The current bombing of the Gaza Strip by Israel in response to Hamas attacks can very likely be used by Tel Aviv to actually displace the Palestinian population into Egyptian territory, especially since the Israeli Armed Forces today clearly called on the Palestinians to flee to the Sinai.

Since Day 1 of the war, over dozens of Egyptian ambulances, filled with medical aid, doctors, and medics, have went to Gaza to provide emergency medical services to the Palestinian people, the intiative, by all accounts, is humanitarian and oriented towards the civilian population, obviously.

Israel threatening to bomb the trucks carrying nothing more than bandages, blood packets, antibiotics, and doctors, is a through and through war crime and this is taking place in front of the world.

It’s important to note that some of these doctors are directly Army doctors from the Medical Corps and the Egyptian Red Crescent, alongside some volunteers, and they’re all Egyptian citizens.

Whoever made that statement didn’t think twice, they may have had a legal loophole when they bombed the Palestinian side of the crossing and the roads, but targeting the trucks will not do you any good.

There have been decades of photos of dead Palestinian women and children, and kids being beaten, humiliated and imprisoned by Israeli soldiers. The historic killing rate in this “conflict” has been fairly consistent at about 40:1. None of this ever caused more than a raised eyebrow and a mild tut-tut from the western “liberal” Establishment. I can’t recall camera crews ever pursuing any Zionist politicians down the street demanding that they use the word “condemn” of the latest Israeli atrocity.

The paroxysm of hatred in the political and media class, unleashed by a single day of the boot being on the other foot is instructive. It is particularly instructive in their near complete unanimity – what percentage of the discussion on broadcast TV or radio have you heard this last 48 hours given over to Palestinian or pro-Palestinian voices?

Yet it is very plain from social media that the public is by no means as unanimous in their support of Israel as are the political and media class. But then the public are not bought and paid for. Asymmetric warfare tends to be vile. Oppressed and colonised peoples don’t have the luxury of lining up soldiers in neatly pressed uniforms and polished boots, to face off against the opposing army in an equality of arms.

A colonised and oppressed people tends, given the chance, to mirror the atrocities perpetrated on them by their oppressor. This of course feeds in, always, to the propaganda of the Imperialist. A paroxysm of resistance by the oppressed always ends up portrayed by the Imperialist as evidence of the bestiality of the colonised people and in itself justifying the “civilising mission” of the coloniser.

Thus the “Indian Mutiny” became a Victorian tale of rape and murder of British women and of the Black Hole of Calcutta. Thus the Mau Mau were evil butchers, and the IRA were terrorists, which is the modern term of art for those resisting evil and foreign rule.

The Israeli Ambassador to the UN yesterday described the Hamas fighters as “animal like”. This of course is not true. They are people, but people who have been crazed by unbearable levels of injustice and oppression. I am extremely sorry for all those who die, as in all wars. I am sorry even for the deaths of individual Israeli soldiers, and more so for all the innocents who died and are now dying.

But I will not condemn Hamas.

For this I do not even need to delve into the backstory of Hamas’ initial sponsoring by Israel to split Fatah. They have grown well past that. I do not condemn Hamas because the resistance of the Palestinian people is a reflex response to their slow genocide. Yes it is an inchoate and violent response. Of course I wish it did not have innocent victims.

The people I do condemn are the political class internationally who, with one voice, put out statements supporting “Israel’s right to self-defence”. A right they grant to the oppressor but deny to the oppressed. Those are the people who need to be condemned.

If you want to express sympathy or outrage over Israeli civilian casualties, but have not done so over Palestinian suffering and casualties, then let me tell you – you are cynically using decent human sentiments to support the indecency and inhumanity of occupation. You are not actually disturbed by human suffering, you are disturbed only by the consequences of causing suffering for others.

Otherwise, show me where you have consistently expressed your grief and your outrage over Palestinian victims over the years. You probably can’t do that because if you consistently expressed your grief and outrage over Palestinian victims, then there wouldn’t be any room on your social media accounts for anything else. For decades, Palestinians have been victimised and subjected to brutality and savagery every single day.

So if you have been silent and are just now getting onto social media to talk about Israeli victims then let me tell you, you are saying that because you think it makes you a good person or want to think of yourself as a good person. I’ll tell you to your face that you’re not a good person, because you’re not actually disturbed by human suffering.

If you were at all concerned about human suffering, then you would have been concerned about the human suffering of the Palestinians which has been going on for decades. They have been victimised daily my entire lifetime, and your lifetime too.

Someone may be disturbed when they see suffering or bloodshed of civilians, obviously no normal person would accept that or would feel anything but sympathy. The only thing which validates your sentiment, your outrage, your sympathy or your grief over something like that, the only thing that makes it authentic, genuine and not hypocritical, is if you have already been feeling that for the Palestinians.

Palestinian suffering has been caused by all those who support Zionism, by turning a blind eye to the suffering of the Palestinians. If you have spent your life turning a blind eye to the suffering of Palestinians then don’t tell me how grief-stricken you are over the Israeli civilian victims in the current conflict. Don’t tell me your grief is based on genuine human emotion, human feeling or human decency. It’s indecent if you have never felt this way about the suffering of the Palestinians, which eclipses many times anything the Israelis have suffered or are suffering now.

So as soon as someone expresses their grief or their sympathy for Israeli civilians or Israeli victims in the current conflict, all I am hearing from them is they don’t care about human life. They only care about the lives of some humans, while the other humans are just expected to bear the suffering, to bear the oppression, to bear the subjugation, to bear the brutality.

The only thing that upsets you is when they fight back, which means your actual sympathy is with the criminals and not the victims. Who’s to blame, if a civilian is harmed in the course of a conflict or resistance struggle against occupation, if not the occupiers themselves? Who’s to blame for that except for the people who created the oppression of the Palestinians, who created the occupation that resulted in the resistance to begin with? Everyone knows the oppressed have a right to resistance, legally, morally, religiously and in every other possible way.

So, if you want to avoid the admittedly ugly consequences of resistance, then first you need to prevent the ugliness of oppression, occupation and subjugation. If you turn a blind eye to occupation, subjugation and oppression then you may as well turn a blind eye to the consequences. Unless you are ready to admit to the world that you only have sympathy for criminals and not their victims.
