Jihad concludes that her family is ready “to live even in the ruins, just at home and without war,” as they wait for a return of peace.

Mahmoud Annabah, another Khan Younis resident, said that a shabby tent is the only home that his family of eight has.

“It is very, very difficult to live now. Not only is there a shortage of food, there is also a shortage of drinking water,” he revealed, adding that five of his relatives had died and “there are also missing people, we don’t know anything about them.”

There are currently 543 temporary shelter camps in Gaza, according to the local authorities, which note that 74% of the tents in use have deteriorated after 11 months of fighting and exposure to sunlight and wind.
