The Israeli envoy to the UN, Danny Danon, has disrupted a UN hearing on children in conflict, shouting “be quiet” at the UN special representative Vanessa Frazier after she tried to raise a point of order.

The disruption occurred on Friday during an event marking the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, where Danon was demanding the resignation of the secretary-general’s special representative on sexual violence in conflict, Pramila Patten, over a report that documented Israeli sexual violence against Palestinians.

Her report revealed that children suffered the highest level of grave violations since the mandate was created three decades ago, with Israeli forces responsible for the majority of abuses.

As Danon accused Patten of allegedly yielding to “the secretary-general’s obsession with Israel,” Frazier attempted to intervene.

“I am sorry, but I have to make a point of order,” Frazier said, attempting to stop Danon’s outburst and draw attention to procedural concerns.

Danon responded by raising his voice, yelling, “No, you be quiet! Because I am speaking now!”

Frazier pushed back, saying, “This should not be personal … I want a point of order,” but Danon continued yelling, derailing the session from the main issue.

On May 29, 2026, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres placed Israel on the blacklist of entities accused of sexual violence in war zones, citing abuse of Palestinian abductees.

The 2026 edition of the Secretary-General’s Report on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence, which covers the year 2025, said the UN had verified 31 instances of sexual violence against Palestinians by Israeli forces in 2025, in addition to 18 cases documented in 2023 and 2024.

The victims included 14 men, seven women, nine boys, and one girl, all from the occupied West Bank or Gaza.

The UN Committee against Torture said in November 2025 that it was deeply concerned about reports indicating “a de facto policy of organized and widespread torture and ill-treatment” of Palestinian abductees in Israeli prisons.

The committee said the number of reports of Israeli forces torturing Palestinians or committing sexual violence against Palestinians had “gravely intensified” after the regime launched its genocidal assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

Since Israel began its genocidal campaign in Gaza, it has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians and wounded at least 172,000 others, most of them women and children.
