A new voice for us.ย I am not pleased with the environment that is being consulted here, as it is external 5th column, but the theories were interesting.
For the record, President Putin is in office today and the Russian Foreign Office is active.
Feel free to discuss your own theory – none of these I would subscribe to.
In this edition of Issues of Contemporary Politics with Dr.Brovkin, we focus on the strange silence of President Putin since the abduction of President Maduro. It is strange because the events touch upon a Russian ally, because Russian vessels are seized by the U, because one expects a president of a country whose interests are touched to react. Yet there is nothing. Why? Dr. Brovkin is an American historian of Russia, now retired, a former Professor of Soviet History at Harvard University. He is the author of numerous books on Russian History and politics. His latest book: From Vladimir Lenin to Vladimir Putin: Russia in Search of Its Identity (Routledge, London 2024) is available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Routledge.com. I enjoyed this monologue quite a bit. Regardless of where Putin is or what he is doing, I have to agree with Paul Craig Roberts on Ukraine. Putin has dragged that war out to the point of lunacy and he should have gone for the entire of Ukraine quickly, not… Read more »
There is a different view here. Russia does not strike civilians. This PCR line of thinking is infested with shock ‘n awe NATO type tactics that kills everything that moves. Russia has not done that and it is a profound misunderstanding from the likes of this grouping. Russia does not… Read more »
After YEARS now of the “SMO” I have to totally disagree with you. I was willing to give it time. It is absurd now. In my opinion Putin needs to GO. Bring back Nikita Khrushchev.
And, you may be surprised to learn that I am a mostly left leaning pacifistic type. But I am an American, that grew up in the USA, and I live on the East Coast USA where the American Military is practically worshiped. Worshiped to the point of insanity. When it… Read more »
You’re not listening Don. Who are we, non-Russians, to tell Russia what to do? It is most presumptive. We do not even comprehend their civilization. Each marches to their own beat, and pace. What you see as weakness, reveals incomprehension of their grand strategy. Among the aims deduced of the… Read more »
My point exactly. The USA needs to stay out of it. BUT the USA does not stay out of it. SO…….as an American I am going to say what I want about it. The USA is NOT going to quit until Russia MAKES THEM STOP. I say let Russia be… Read more »
Western pundits are deliciously delirious, parsing vainly for the nonexistent.
As if the Tzar who reforged Russia navigating traitorous, bankrupt kakistocracy in the Unipolar moment lacks the nerve or smarts to shift tacks, doing what is necessary.
The silence is calm before Storms. Goldfinger’s increasing daily hysterical madness messages it.
it’s war. it hasn’t been cold for years but now it’s open, hot & on. the first oreshnik was the warning shot, the second was the declaration. city got the message…that it hasn’t filtered down to its minions, knights or knaves & sheeple simply demonstrates the effectiveness of the drugs… Read more »

And full disclosure, I have never been all that impressed with Putin.
