Richard D. Wolff & Michael Hudson: EU–US Split? EU Moves as the UK Economy Collapses

The EU:  There is nothing left, besides hatred of Russia. That is the only political message that they have, and they will keep on working it.  The stakes now are so high and what is at stake is the physical, military and demographic survival of Europe itself.

What the EU is attempting is to inculcate a deep belief in the citizenry that their position over the past 500 years can be re-established and preserved against what looks to be the rise of China.  If the leadership cannot tell that story, then it is over for them.  The situation in Europe is dire.  The people know it is not going well.   That is why Kallas talks nonsense, as she has to rewrite world history to try and do this.  The United States couldn’t care about the Europeans.  The Europeans ‘ idea that the US could protect them is childishly silly.

We’re watching the death paroxysms of the European idea that they have something for the world.  It is a sad reality.
