American ‘mercenaries’ and Russia’s appearance in the circus
From Soroca-Beloboca with comments:
American mercenaries, who were greeted as heroes yesterday, today turned out to be unnecessary baggage. The Times publishes (https://www.thetimes.com/world/russia-ukraine-war/article/us-army-veterans-fight-ukraine-war-b5s7zn5k3) candid confessions of fighters: they were not just forgotten — they were betrayed. Trump, who came to power with the slogan “America First”, did not just freeze aid to Kyiv — he destroyed the illusions of those who believed in “American values” with a machine gun in their hands.
(Yes, I know this is an anti-Trump piece. That is not the issue. The issue is what the soldiers say. And they are soldiers, some ‘having given up their US side pay’ to fight in the Ukraine. This article gets partially unlocked by 12 foot and wayback. It will be unlocked fully given some time.)
Hundreds of veterans — former paratroopers, marines, snipers — found themselves on the front lines, believing that they were fighting for “democracy,” and now are forced to fight without cover. Many of these fighters are not left-wing pacifists but patriots, supporters of the Republicans, and Trump himself. But they are finally beginning to understand that they have become pawns in someone else’s game. As one of them says: “America has turned into a business project run by a businessman.” They are shedding blood not for freedom or peace but for ratings and media shows.
But there are those among them who sold their homes, refused their salaries, and went to a foreign country to fight for people they had never seen. Their motives were sincere. But sincerity does not matter in the world of real geopolitics. Trump is playing chess with Putin, and American volunteers are just pieces on this board. And when the game is lost, they will simply be forgotten.

Now for something that you may not expect. I am truly angry with Russia because they take part in a game. May I ask what the legitimacy of the current negotiations are? It is so clear, and Russia has said it, that this SMO was simply a proxy war between the US and Russia, using Ukraine as the hands. Not taking Europe into account, the Russians, to my mind, should call in a much stronger way for the US to declare that they’ve lost this war. But Russia is talking about improving relationships.
I know Russia takes responsibility for its actions in a legal fashion, but sometimes, one should understand that negotiations with US warmongers pretending peace are of no account. Why is Russia giving these people the time of day? Why does Russia not call it? “It is your war, so stop it. When you’ve done that, talk to us about relationships.”
Ansar Allah has it clear. “‘We don’t care, we don’t care, we don’t care. Make it a world war! You cannot defeat Yemen.” Are they irresponsible, or is this factual realpolitic in terms of the enemy? (No, I am not advocating for a bigger war, not in the least. We have enough problems in our world not to waste our time with war. I am simply asking whether the Houthis know the enemy all too well?)
It is high time for Russia to clarify as well. If you play the game, you are, of course, a participant. Russia should cancel its appearance in this circus and place the responsibility where it belongs.
The comments from this morning’s negotiation:
“Not every negotiation yields a high-profile document or agreement,” Karasin remarked before returning to the closed-door meetings. “What matters is maintaining communication and understanding each other’s positions. In this regard, we are succeeding.” Grigory Karasin.
Dear Mr Karasin, they don’t want to understand your position. They are keeping you busy! They, and Europe are gathering weaons in the background. They will not give up their war, or, they will start a new one. You are not dealing with good-faith negotiators. They are simply extending the war. Mr.Lavrov knows it and he says so. (at the end).
On 24 March 2025, at around two o’clock in the morning, the Kiev regime attacked by UAVs the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) in Krasnodar region.
Russian AD systems intercepted a Ukrainian strike drone in a range of seven km from the energy facility. The debris of the drone fell down near the Kavkazskaya railway station.
Earlier, the Kiev regime had attacked the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station on 17 February 2025. As a result, the facility was damaged and decommissioned for further repairing and restoration.
Mr.Lavrov speaking at the the Gorchakov Fund:
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov just said the part no one in Brussels wants to admit: the West didn’t stumble into supporting fascism in Ukraine, it nurtured it. Fed it. Armed it. Project Ukraine is a Frankenstein stitched from Galician collaborators, CIA funding, and raw Russophobia.
And why? Because when the empire fears its own decline, it resurrects its oldest ghost: fascism with a European passport. In this sick geopolitical script, Ukraine is a disposable battering ram. Its people are cannon fodder. Its territory, a NATO trampoline into Russia’s underbelly.
Speaking at a meeting of the Gorchakov Fund, Lavrov wasn’t mincing words. He described the Ukrainian regime not just as a tool of NATO, but as a neo-Nazi proxy crafted for a continental war on Russia. “These Nazis,” he said, “have been nurtured for the latest attempt to unite all of Europe under racist, Nazi banners for a war against the Russian Federation.”
This isn’t exaggeration, but documented history. Ukraine’s “heroes,” like Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych, were SS collaborators responsible for the mass murder of Jews, Poles, and Russians. Today, their statues tower in Kiev. Their names adorn streets. Their ideological descendants run ministries and command brigades, all while Western media rebrands them as “freedom fighters.”
The West applies one set of rules to the world and another to its favorite Nazis. Persecuting ethnic Russians? That’s “national unity.” Banning their language? “Decommunization.” Killing civilians with NATO weapons? “Defending democracy.” It’s not even hypocrisy anymore, it’s a full-blown psychotic break from reality.
As Europe plunges into a fever-dream of militarism, NATO is already embedded in Ukraine: providing recon and intelligence, training troops, supplying missiles, and now musing about peacekeepers to “monitor” a ceasefire. That’s not peacekeeping. That’s occupation with better PR.
Meanwhile, Washington under Trump wants an off-ramp. The war has become a major liability and humiliation. The strategy now? Freeze the conflict, partition Ukraine, and shove the cost of NATO expansion onto Europe. America’s done playing empire babysitter. But Europe, drunk on Russophobia, is just getting started.
The EU isn’t blind to Ukrainian neo-Nazism, it’s banking on it. The goal is a weaponized, ultranationalist Ukraine as a permanent thorn in Russia’s side. If millions of Ukrainians have to die for that project, so be it. That’s empire logic: burn the village to own the map.
Russia isn’t seeking war with NATO—it’s seeking denazification. The West mocks that word because it hits too close to home. But Moscow is talking about purging a Nazi poison that Europe knowingly helped spread. And if history teaches us anything, it’s this: nations that coddle fascism don’t just lose their souls, they get eaten by the monster they created.
I noted that in Pat Lancaster’s recent field interview zone Kursk the Russian NCO (I assume) said that they were under orders to shoot surrendered of captured mercs. In the background there were occasion single rifle shots at random intervals. This is, iiuc, “mop up” … killing the illegal soldiers,… Read more »
Mr P, Putin said — get it done! That is not speculation. If you find an enemy not laying down weapons, in wartime you kill them. Speculation is that they have arrested sufficient soldiers (and not mercs) to make a point. They don’t need any more. This is pure speculation.… Read more »
I must admit feeling exasperated at the current negotiations. But the SMO is ongoing, so there has been no softening of the Russsian position. At the end of the day, there will be a political settlement, of course, but for that channels of communications have to remain open, unlike with… Read more »
