Nebenzya at the UN General Assembly channels Medvedev
Russian Permanent Representative Nebenzya at the UN General Assembly:
Western countries are trying to suggest to us that they are acting lawfully. They say that they are only encouraging other countries to comply with their obligations under international law. And the coercive measures are supposedly derived from the international obligations of our opponents themselves.
We have heard that today.
In that regard, I would like to have answers to a number of questions.
- First, who appointed you to be the judge of who, where, when and to what extent fulfills their obligations?
- Moreover, no international treaty stipulates that if its provisions, in the opinion of the West, are violated by a State, Western countries are vested with the right to abuse their position as the world’s financial hegemon and to hinder that State’s trade or seize its sovereign assets.
There is a ‘shut up’ message beginning to go out to the collective west.

Matthew Miller got really upset when asked the right question- Who has jurisdiction over Gaza?
The journalist Matt Lee, unluckily for Miller, had the courage to insist on answer and challenge the spokesman of State Department.
