Just before the Raisi-Assad summit, Assad received the Chinese government’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, Zhai Jun.  Assad emphasized that the BRICS bloc, through the adoption of the Chinese yuan for trade transactions between nations, can play a leading role in that regard.

The Chinese official assured Bashar Assad that Beijing will continue to support Damascus in international forums and “it’s battle against hegemony, terrorism and external interference.” Zhai Jun also said that China backs the rapprochement between Syria and the other Arab countries.

Chinese diplomacy has been quite active in the region and beyond in an attempt to expand the influence of the People’s Republic on the global stage. China initiated talks about the potential enlargement of BRICS and has been trying to promote the use of the yuan in international trade while supporting efforts to reduce dependence on the U.S. currency.

– Regarding the reconstruction of Syria, we are ready to cooperate with the Syrian people and government.

– Syria must be reconstructed quickly, the displaced must return, and conditions return to normal.

– Relations between Iran and Syria are strategic and important, and will continue.

– My visit to Syria is within the framework of consolidating these relations and developing them in all fields.

– We stress the necessity of Syria sovereignty over all its lands and we believe that the Americans should leave immediately.

– Iran is perhaps the only country that supported the Syrian government, facing the takfiris and the countries seeking partition, Hezbollah and Iran helped prevent the division of Syria.

– We have always announced that we do not and will never regret strengthening the resistance front.

– Many countries in the region and the world realized that Syria will not fail and lose, so they reconsidered their relations with it. We welcome the restoration of its relations with the countries of the world, especially the countries of the region.

– The Americans and the Zionists raised up their hopes that Syria would collapse and that they would break the front line of resistance.

– The Syrian people proved that they are warriors, and this struggle is considered a golden sheet in the history of Syria in front of the enemies, in front of the separatists, and in front of the takfiri factions.
