Today is an important day. We start off with China, then a little later we move to Russia, and then India – all in the morning session.
Yesterday the only address of real importance was Pakistan, not because they are important, but to see what they stand for. It would soon would tell you of the confusion and childishness in Pakistan.
Noted are the many negative comments on the UN scattered throughout the site. Yes, it is a negative space now; even a toxic space. However, I do see clearly the work that Russia and China did towards reform. We need such an organization in our world whether we like it or not. We only need it free of undue influence, threats, coercion and influence peddling. So, hold on, there is a new breeze blowing but we will have to see if it changes into a hurricane to blow away the unnecessary. It is important not to fall for the empirical cant, who as we saw so clearly with Xi Jinping’s visit to Trump, is still talking in empirical terms. This is what Russia is working for; UN staffing that is not stuffed with collective western puppets, a leader for the organization that is independent, a larger UN Security Council that is more in line with our current world and is not a bad analogue of 1945, and the return of Law. Like many, I would prefer the organization to move out of New York. Sometimes we have to work with what we have and we have to accept where we are.
This is not yet an analysis, only comments. We saw Bloody Bibi with his own hands confirm the pariah situation of Israel and further cooking his own goose. Everybody noticed, but the US and some of Europe decided not to notice. We saw Donald Trump use the podium for unhinged threats on others. We saw who are kinda half-dead-zombies and made their speeches with AI, and who spoke from the heart. This confirms that the empire is falling because life is not on their side. Language does not mean power and the power of the empire is reducing. We saw a confusion between the new terminology that will become our world to the future, and the old rules-based-order.
Finally as is everything else and too slow for most of us, we see the changes slipping in. So, if you critique, take that into consideration. Take into consideration that you are critiquing a behemoth of the past. We are going to see a new UN in our lifetimes. Currently it is still the old Pareto Principle, 80/20. But the 20% (perhaps a little more) is very real, active and working. BRICS may do a good job here if they take it on. India? let’s hear them out today and they are easy to ignore as they are a fine “Ed Sheeran” type.
China – vanilla, but they are not moving an inch.

Russia – Lavrov was on a tear! He slammed some demands on the table. Release Maduro and his wife immediately. Stop attacking Cuba. Get back to the proper 2-state solution for the Palestinians. ‘We need TRUST between the Gulf states, Arab states and Iran’.

India – Jaishanker is of course a tremendously effective Foreign Minister and Diplomat. His speech was superb. He only gave one sharp dig to Pakistan. But with India, we never know and in each event, we need to wait to see how they pivot. And Oh, do they pivot.

There are a few more for the afternoon session but nothing that I am interested in, and then a few more for Monday morning. I’d like to take a look at the DPRK and Costa Rica, in the event that the nominee from Costa Rica is elected as the new Secretary General of the UN. But generally, this will calm down now.
Mr Lavrov did a press conference straight after his speech. Nothing that we did not know, except two things:

For Lavrov’s UNGA speech, I would encourage you to actually listen. He and his translator were working hand in glove and very fast. Usually I would insist on a transcript but for this one, get the sense of it and listen to his speech. It is short – 20 minutes. I would suggest the same for China and for India.
