💬 On June 3, the UN General Assembly held elections of UN Security Council members for the term 2027-2028.

Kyrgyzstan (of the Asian-Pacific group), Zimbabwe (of the African group), Trinidad and Tobago (of the Latin American and the Caribbean group), as well as Austria and Portugal (of the West European and other states) have been elected to the non-permanent pool.

We want to point out the first ever election of Kyrgyzstan and the success of Zimbabwe. Bishkek’s victory is a significant event, a sign of trust on behalf of the #GlobalMajority and recognition of its high authority in the world arena.

🤝 We wish our Kyrgyz and Zimbabwean friends successful tenure at the UN Security Council.

As for the election of Austria and Portugal, we expect the work of these countries in the Council to be based on an unconditional adherence to the UN Charter principles in their entire completeness and interrelation.

We are earnestly urging them to give top priority not to the logic of block mentality, but to the collective response to the threats to international peace and security, considering new realities of a #MultipolarWorld.

👉 We expect Trinidad and Tobago to stick to a constructive course.

Russia, for its part, is invariably open to an active, close and pragmatic interaction with all Security Council members for an effective and prompt settlement of conflict situations and restoring the central and coordinating role of the UN in the world affairs, in general.
