India and the US had trade talks scheduled for tomorrow.  These talks are now delayed/cancelled/postponed/called off/paused/deferred or otherwise they will/or won’t happen.  Nobody knows.  Did India call off the talks or the US?  Nobody really knows.  This is the first result of Trump doubling down on Tariffs for the whole world, first 10% and then doubling down again to 15%.   The Indian Trade ministry said:  “India has delayed plans to send a trade delegation to Washington this week, chiefly because of uncertainty after the US Supreme Court struck down tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.”

A source in the Indian Trade Ministry said on Feb 22.  “The decision to defer the visit was taken after discussions between officials of the two countries,” said the source, who sought anonymity as the matter is a sensitive one. “No new date for the visit has been decided.”

The Big Question:  Why is the US not launching on Iran?

Larry Johnson of Sonar 21 has some answers.  Read on his site – this is only a snippet.

The massive deployment of US combat air assets to the Middle East, accompanied by two carrier strike groups, is not a negotiating ploy. The USCENTCOM chain of command, along with the supporting military assets (e.g., AFSOC, JSOC, EUCOM), fully expected the launch order to be issued for a Friday night strike. But the order has not been issued… At least not yet, as of 2200 hours eastern time on Friday. What is going on?

For starters, there are two senior members of the Trump administration who are warning the President that the attack would be political suicide. They reportedly buttressed their argument against attacking Iran by providing the President with the results of a recent opinion poll. According to the poll results, if Trump starts a war with Iran and there are significant US casualties, the Titanic has a better chance of sailing again than the Republicans winning the midterms. It appears — at least for now — that Trump is reconsidering giving the Execute order.

A second factor that makes an attack less likely this weekend is Tuesday’s State of the Nation address by Trump. Chief of Staff Susie Wiles may be a corrupt, Zionist tool, but she is not politically obtuse. Starting a war with Iran, especially after Trump’s tariff deal was slapped down by the US Supreme Court, would likely set off a firestorm among the Democrats, Independents and the media. Instead of Trump being able to tout all of his massive achievements during his first year of his second term, the public attention would be clamoring for info about the war. JCS Chairman Caine and Admiral Brad Cooper, Commander of CENTCOM, have warned the President that there is a high likelihood that there would be US casualties when the US attacks.

What I don’t see Larry handle in his piece, is the noise on a quick and decisive strike to take out Ali Hosseini Khamenei and more of the Iranian leadership.

‼️ US Supreme Court blocks Trump’s emergency tariffs

In a 6–3 ruling, the US Supreme Court held that President Donald Trump exceeded his authority by imposing sweeping global tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that the president claimed “the extraordinary power to unilaterally impose tariffs of unlimited amount, duration, and scope,” but must point to clear congressional authorization.

The Court ruled that IEEPA does not authorize tariffs and reaffirmed that the power to impose duties belongs to Congress.

The dissent warned the US “may be required to refund billions” collected under the invalidated tariffs

Trump is livid. It is all someone else’s fault and some foreign interference as well.

US reveals new details of alleged Chinese nuclear test

A senior US official revealed what he said were new details of an underground nuclear test blast that China allegedly conducted in June 2020.

Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Yeaw said that a remote seismic station in Kazakhstan measured an “explosion” of magnitude 2.75 located 450 miles (720 km) away at the Lop Nor test grounds in western China on June 22, 2020.

“It’s also entirely not consistent with an earthquake,” said Yeaw, a former intelligence analyst and defense official who holds a doctorate in nuclear engineering. “It is … what you would expect with a nuclear explosive test.”

The Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization, which is charged with detecting nuclear test explosions, said that there was insufficient data to confirm Yeaw’s allegation with confidence.

Russia confirmed that there were no nuclear tests at the time.

Oh! Russia: There has been chatter about Russian authorities slowing down Telegram (others as well) and the reason that I can find, is that Telegram is not deleting channels as per Russian wishes. Today a short report is out saying that Telegram will not be restricted in the SMO zone – confirmed by the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadaev.

According to him, authorities hope that over time the military will transition to domestic Russian messaging services. “But we hope that after some time our military will be able to adapt and switch to Russian services,” Shadaev said.

– This is the same problem that Russia had with Telegram way back in the beginning and the reason why Pavel Durov left the country. My question is how are we going to follow the average ordinary Russian on the streets? They all have Telegram channels and I for one have chat groups with Russians. Russia should fix this problem otherwise they will only silence their own people and leave the rest of us without the resource.

Let us see what this means. Mexico has just set up a support system for Cuba based on human rights.

WASHINGTON, February 17. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has extended for another year an order authorizing the detention and inspection of American and foreign vessels bound for Cuba, according to the Federal Register.

“The Cuban government has not demonstrated that it will refrain from the use of excessive force against United States vessels or aircraft that may engage in memorial activities or peaceful protest north of Cuba. Further, the unauthorized entry of any United States-registered vessel into Cuban territorial waters continues to be detrimental to the foreign policy of the United States because such entry could facilitate a mass migration from Cuba,” the document says.

“It continues to be United States policy that a mass migration from Cuba would endanger United States national security by posing a disturbance or threatened disturbance of the international relations of the United States.”

Trump said he was extending “the national emergency with respect to Cuba and the emergency authority” that would allow the detention of ships coming to the republic.

The order was initially signed in 1996 by President Bill Clinton after Cuba shot down two planes of the Miami-based emigrant organization Brothers to the Rescue.

In 2004, the order prohibited financial and material support to Cuba. The prohibitions were expanded in 2016 and 2018. The order was extended many times.

On January 29, a decree was also signed allowing Washington to impose duties on the goods from the countries that supply oil to Cuba. Under this document, a state of emergency is formally introduced in the United States due to the alleged threat from Cuba.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla strongly condemned these measures, which threaten the island state with a “total blockade of fuel supplies,” “are a violation of all principles of international trade” and create “extreme conditions” for the life of the Cuban people.

Washington said it was cooperating with the Havana on the energy blockade, adding the parties were close to an agreement.

Russia, Iran and China have sent ships to conduct exercises in the Strait of Hormuz, Nikolay Patrushev announced.  No dates have been announced by Patrushev but Iran has been running for two days now ‘the smart control exercise of the Strait of Hormuz’, to observe safety and navigation principles.  Today parts of the Strait of Hormuz will be closed for a few hours.

Nikolai Patrushev warned that the West is seeking to disrupt Russia’s foreign trade by escalating attacks on Russian commercial shipping. Any attempt at a maritime blockade, he stressed, would be illegal.

In an interview with aif.ru, Patrushev said incidents targeting Russian vessels and cargo will likely increase, and that the West could even try to restrict Russia’s access to the Atlantic if such “pirate” actions are not met with a firm response.

He emphasized the need for Russia to maintain a strong, high-tech navy capable of protecting economic activity at sea, with long-term shipbuilding plans through 2050 reflecting these priorities.

Patrushev also pointed to NATO’s growing offensive presence in the Baltic as a destabilizing factor, accusing the West of reviving “gunboat diplomacy.” He argued that BRICS should develop a strategic maritime role, with Russia and its partners already working to secure sea routes against Western pressure and advance a multipolar order in global waters.

Denial of connection between 3 oil tankers seized by India

Reports by Reuters claiming that India seized three oil tankers linked to Iran are inaccurate. According to the National Iranian Oil Company, neither the vessels nor their cargo have any connection to the company, and there has been no disruption to Iran’s oil export fleet.

I found this nice photo why so many millions welcome Ramadan. It is truly a month of blessings and communal joy. Something that should be an ordeal, fasting sunup to sunset, is made easy with all doing it with you. Also the spiritual renewal is sought – a month to do good works, and to have less temptations since the major satans will be chained. This image encapsulates the shared joyful anticipation.

We do not know when it really begins. It is based on a confirmed moon sighting. Tuesday in two days is the 29th day of the lunar month. After evening prayers, people gather on known good observation points (usually mountains, high points, in country side..) and if someone sees the new moon, the next day (Wednesday) is the first day of Ramadan. If it is not seen locally (and this is why different Muslim countries can have different start dates, according to viewing, and this is OK), then Wednesday will complete the 30th day of Sha’ban (the current month) and Ramadan would begin on Thursday. It’s all good..

🔹The #Gaza Strip overnight saw continued IDF aggression characterized by heavy shelling in the central region and intensified gunfire across northern and southern sectors.

• In northern Gaza, the IOF opened heavy fire across Jabalia camp, where reports indicate the construction of new military sites amidst the extensive destruction of the camp’s residential infrastructure.
• The central governorate endured a violent night of artillery shelling, with IOF batteries repeatedly targeting the eastern plains and the northeastern outskirts of Al-Bureij camp.
• In Gaza City, IOF machinery stationed east of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood opened heavy fire, while several residents in Khan Younis’s Al-Maslakh area were wounded by indiscriminate fire from IOF vehicles.
• At the southern border, the tenth batch of Palestinian returnees was documented entering the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing late in the evening.

A German icebreaker, sent to rescue a stranded LNG tanker, broke down and got stuck in the thick Arctic ice, NDR reports.  According to the publication, if the ship is not helped, it will have to spend the winter in the Arctic zone.

It is noted that only Russian nuclear icebreakers, which have sufficient power to break through heavy ice and escort other ships, can save the vessel. However, sanctions have been imposed against Russia, which complicates the possible involvement of the Russian Navy.

Commentary on Rubio’s speech is still pouring in all over the internet:

Rubio’s speech was a schizophrenic symphony of cultural pessimism: a critique of the “End of History” liberal internationalism wrapped in the very “Clash of Civilizations” barbed wire that keeps humanity divided—the very worldview Rubio claims to reject but merely inverts.

The “Clash of Civilizations” and the “End of History” are twin heads of the same oligarchical snake. Rubio is counterfeit opposition, offering the mirror image of the disease while posing as the cure. He is a man trapped in someone else’s argument, incapable of imagining a future beyond the categories the oligarchy gave him.

By framing the future as a contest between the West and the rest, he ensures the conflict that will block the grand-scale infrastructure and scientific cooperation needed to lift the entire planet.

His insistence that the engine of development must be a narrowly defined, ethnocentric “Western civilization” ignores a simple fact: a shrinking, aging population is the death knell of a physical economy. Who will staff the factories of the new “Western supply chain”? He ignores the demographic problem because he’s focused on culture war, not economics—and that makes him a useful idiot for the oligarchy. He never mentions moving beyond a speculative, finance-driven economy to a productive one. This is the Malthusian madness of the very Club of Rome he claims to reject, dressed up in patriotic clothing. Rubio peddles the same zero-growth poison as the globalists.

Humanity’s destiny is discovery, not nostalgia, but Rubio cannot see past the barbed wire. For him, there is no room for the creative intellect that transcends tribe, no recognition that the scientific method or musical genius knows no border.
