Starting with a positive. Ramadan as described by a friend:
I found this nice photo why so many millions welcome Ramadan. It is truly a month of blessings and communal joy. Something that should be an ordeal, fasting sunup to sunset, is made easy with all doing it with you. Also the spiritual renewal is sought – a month to do good works, and to have less temptations since the major satans will be chained. This image encapsulates the shared joyful anticipation.
We do not know when it really begins. It is based on a confirmed moon sighting. Tuesday in two days is the 29th day of the lunar month. After evening prayers, people gather on known good observation points (usually mountains, high points, in country side..) and if someone sees the new moon, the next day (Wednesday) is the first day of Ramadan. If it is not seen locally (and this is why different Muslim countries can have different start dates, according to viewing, and this is OK), then Wednesday will complete the 30th day of Sha’ban (the current month) and Ramadan would begin on Thursday. It’s all good..

The ‘Global Bridge’ for Cuba is now a reality
Mexico officially becomes the world’s gas station for humanitarian aid. 🇲🇽✈️
President Claudia Sheinbaum has just confirmed that any aircraft, regardless of its origin, will be allowed to land and refuel on Mexican soil if its final destination is to deliver aid to Cuba.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says he is in Geneva for a new round of indirect nuclear negotiations with the United States with concrete proposals, rejecting any pressure-driven concessions.
Prof. Marandi has just announced alternative sources of reliable news, should he be without internet, or silenced.

Ukraine: Three-way negotiations, Ukraine, US, Russia will take place this week.
Geneva agenda of Russia-US-Ukraine talks will be broader than in Abu Dhabi, including territorial issues — Kremlin spox Peskov
Vladimir Medinsky will attend the negotiations specifically to navigate this expanded scope.
➡️Medinsky remains the head of the Russian delegation on Ukraine. He did not participate in the rounds in Abu Dhabi because the discussions there focused on security issues.
He noted that the Russian delegation at the upcoming negotiations in Geneva will be expanded, and in addition to Medinsky, Galuzin, Kostyukov, and others will participate.
➡️Putin gave detailed instructions to the Russian delegation before its departure for the negotiations in Geneva;
➡️The President is in constant contact with Russian negotiators on Ukraine;
➡️The main issues regarding Ukraine are planned to be discussed at the upcoming negotiations in Geneva – including those concerning territories.
The Russian delegation is heading to Geneva with clear instructions to act within the framework of the Anchorage understandings, Ryabkov. Negotiations are supposed to begin tomorrow.
M(n)arco Rubio attempts to ‘salt the earth’ prior to these negotiations with an amazing singularity focused on land alone.
Rubio in Munich: Russia cannot achieve its original war aims in Ukraine and has been forced to narrow them down to just one objective — taking the rest of the Donetsk region.

WWII: Japan still escapes accountability for its wartime atrocities
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has criticised Japan’s approach to its wartime past, arguing that Japan has never carried out the same level of historical reckoning seen in Germany after the Second World War.
🇩🇪 After 1945, Germany underwent denazification, criminalised Nazi symbolism, and embedded responsibility for wartime crimes into its political culture and education system.

Gaza, BoP:
🔹The UN itself is now throwing Francesca Albanese under the bus. This is unprecedented commentary from a UN spox.
U.N. chief António Guterres distances himself from Francesca Albanese. This follows her rejection now by foreign ministers of France, Germany, Austria, and Italy. 🇺🇳 Spokesman: “We don’t agree with much of what she says.”
“She’s a horrible woman” That’s how UN Chief Guterres described Francesca Albanese to me. Unprompted, he said it not once, but twice. @UNWatch
Note: UNWatch is not necessarily fully reliable.
France, Italy, Germany call for UN special rapporteur Albanese to resign for slamming Israeli genocide in Gaza. This was based on a false depiction of an Albanese speech. (Report)
🔹Francesca responded: “I may be a “horrible horrible person”, but I am neither accused of war crimes/crimes against humanity before the @IntlCrimCourt, nor paid to defend a state accused of Genocide before the @CIJ_ICJ
.
I can live with that.
🔹Three European governments accuse me – based on statements I never made -with a virulence and conviction that they have NEVER used against those who have slaughtered 20,000+ children in 858 days.

🔹The #Gaza Strip overnight saw continued IDF aggression characterized by heavy shelling in the central region and intensified gunfire across northern and southern sectors.
• In northern Gaza, the IOF opened heavy fire across Jabalia camp, where reports indicate the construction of new military sites amidst the extensive destruction of the camp’s residential infrastructure.
• The central governorate endured a violent night of artillery shelling, with IOF batteries repeatedly targeting the eastern plains and the northeastern outskirts of Al-Bureij camp.
• In Gaza City, IOF machinery stationed east of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood opened heavy fire, while several residents in Khan Younis’s Al-Maslakh area were wounded by indiscriminate fire from IOF vehicles.
• At the southern border, the tenth batch of Palestinian returnees was documented entering the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing late in the evening.
In addition the war on Lebanon continues, and at least four people were killed in yet another IDF drone attack on southern Lebanon in the last hours,
🔹Israel has approved, for the first time since 1967, the registration of land in the occupied West Bank as “state property”, a move that will facilitate the dispossession and displacement of Palestinians, violate international law, and “bury the idea of a Palestinian state.”
🔹Trump’s BoP (Board of Peace, that does not contain the name Gaza) has its inaugural meeting this week on the 19th. Yes, there is peace in the Middle East, he has announced a number of times.

A German icebreaker, sent to rescue a stranded LNG tanker, broke down and got stuck in the thick Arctic ice, NDR reports. According to the publication, if the ship is not helped, it will have to spend the winter in the Arctic zone.
It is noted that only Russian nuclear icebreakers, which have sufficient power to break through heavy ice and escort other ships, can save the vessel. However, sanctions have been imposed against Russia, which complicates the possible involvement of the Russian Navy.

Oh, the irony.
The EU proposes to impose a full maritime blockade on Russia
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen proposes to include a complete ban on maritime transport in the 20th package of sanctions against Russia:

Commentary on Rubio’s speech is still pouring in all over the internet:
Rubio’s speech was a schizophrenic symphony of cultural pessimism: a critique of the “End of History” liberal internationalism wrapped in the very “Clash of Civilizations” barbed wire that keeps humanity divided—the very worldview Rubio claims to reject but merely inverts.
The “Clash of Civilizations” and the “End of History” are twin heads of the same oligarchical snake. Rubio is counterfeit opposition, offering the mirror image of the disease while posing as the cure. He is a man trapped in someone else’s argument, incapable of imagining a future beyond the categories the oligarchy gave him.
By framing the future as a contest between the West and the rest, he ensures the conflict that will block the grand-scale infrastructure and scientific cooperation needed to lift the entire planet.
His insistence that the engine of development must be a narrowly defined, ethnocentric “Western civilization” ignores a simple fact: a shrinking, aging population is the death knell of a physical economy. Who will staff the factories of the new “Western supply chain”? He ignores the demographic problem because he’s focused on culture war, not economics—and that makes him a useful idiot for the oligarchy. He never mentions moving beyond a speculative, finance-driven economy to a productive one. This is the Malthusian madness of the very Club of Rome he claims to reject, dressed up in patriotic clothing. Rubio peddles the same zero-growth poison as the globalists.
Humanity’s destiny is discovery, not nostalgia, but Rubio cannot see past the barbed wire. For him, there is no room for the creative intellect that transcends tribe, no recognition that the scientific method or musical genius knows no border. For Rubio, “the West” is a tribe to be guarded, not a mission to be advanced.
