Russia’s Deputy Head of Presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin arrives at G20 Summit in Johannesburg

The G20 started yesterday and the main speeches are in progress. Trump is doing his utmost to make this fail. He has said that they may not make a joint declaration, because the US is not present. That is their choice not to be present, and we will see. There is much analytical material saying that the G20 has now lost its relevance and the other new organizations must take over the functions. In the meantime, the US has started revoking visas for South Africans who are ANC members or have government ties, and the most recent is Naledi Pandor, the former Foreign Minister. (She is playing innocent and says she does not know why – everybody knows).

South Africa has carefully prepared and is hiding the most of its decay. Bear in mind that, counting from the last election results, +- 25% of the country is pro-US, in essence, because they feel that they have no alternative. The NCACC refused to release any of these documents. Open Secrets has lodged an internal appeal in accordance with PAIA and is awaiting a decision.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi rebuffed demands from China to retract her recent comments about Taiwan, saying there was no change to Tokyo’s stance on how it would respond to a major regional security crisis.  Takaichi recently became the first sitting Japanese leader in decades to publicly link a Taiwan Strait crisis with the possible deployment of Japanese troops, prompting a furious response and economic retaliation from Beijing.

Since then, she has limited herself to the more vague position repeated by recent Japanese prime ministers, and in remarks to reporters on Nov 21 before departing for a G-20 meeting in South Africa she reiterated that stance.

UNICEF reports that an average of two children per day have been killed by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza since a ceasefire took effect, bringing the total number of child fatalities to at least 67 during the truce period.
