Ebrahim Traoré: a NEW AFRICAN COVENANT

This is a replay of Traorés stunning and powerful New African Covenant.  What he does here is take responsibility for repairing the damage done in Africa.  He does not lament; he cuts through hatreds because this is not productive and decisively takes the next step.  This is a guiding light.

Incredibly stunningly powerful!

Ebrahim Traoré ends with a NEW AFRICAN COVENANT – with the people from this day forward. Not with violence! We will extend our hands in peace, but not bow in submission.

Let no flag wave in celebration when your people are hungry!

Let no leader speak in the name of Africa if he bows to foreign masters
Let no contract be signed that sells a future for a foreign loan

We declare a new covenant between the land and the people

between the past and the future
between the seen and the unseen

We will honor our ancestors by refusing to repeat their captivity
We will bless our descendants by ensuring they are born into dignity, not debt

This is our sacred duty

This moment, this reckoning is not about me
It is not about a single government
a single speech
or a single protest

It is about a spiritual awakening
An ancestral uprising
A generational fire that cannot be extinguished by fear of foreign hands

So let it be written in the hearts of all

Africans we will rise not as victims but as visionaries
We will forgive but we will never forget
We will extend our hands in peace but we will not bow in submission

Africa remember who you are
you are the drum beat of the earth
you are the sun before time
you are the womb of humanity
you are the whisper of the ancestors
you are the lord of tomorrow

Africa remember who you are
let the lions awaken
let the river sing
let the soil rejoice for we are no longer lost
and we are no longer to buy this
we are no longer asleep

And so I declare as a son of the soil
as a servant of the people
as a voice among millions

I declare before God in history

Africa shall rise
Africa shall heal
Africa shall reign

Not in conquest but in conscience
Not in revenge but in restoration
not by force but by the unstoppable power of a people who have remembered their name

May the ancestors watch with pride
may the children walk with hope
and may the world bear witness to the rebirth of a continent

So help us God

Thank so much, Amarynth – how totally inspiring – you just made my day. I do hope that Traore’ and his finance team, and the legislative branch of government too, are inspired by Russia’s public utility banking model. Burkina Faso has a very low Debt:GDP ratio, and so Sergey Glazyev… Read more »

@Col
I know you’ve written much on economics and finances on this blog, buti believe that an article explaining different banking models in Russia, US, China and the one you described here would help us have more understanding about the subject.

HI Loyal – great to see you here! The closest thing I have written in terms of my hypothesis on public utility banking at the sovereign macroeconomic level is how the defacto central bank in Australia generated extraordinary national wealth within a few short years. This was section 7 of… Read more »

I would follow this man. I can find no words adequate to describe this speech. What a superb mind to know these things, what a spirit to be able to articulate them so well. What a leader, of the stature of an entire continent. May this true revolution grow and… Read more »

The magnificent text of Traoré’s speech should, in fact, become the Manifesto of a New Civilisational Platform for a Multipolar World… it should become the formula for the BRICS+…
