Does Syria and the Uyghurs now form a threat to China? Extremism going mainstream
The question is did the US OK Syria’s welcome to Uyghur terrorists and jihadists to threaten China? There are the terrorist forces that China had to suppress in the Xinjiang province. The US has given tacit approval as Syria prepares to roll out the red carpet for thousands of foreign jihadists.
About 3,500 extremists are set to join Syria’s new 84th Army Division. Trump’s Syria envoy Thomas Barrack casually admits that “there’s an understanding, with transparency”.
Barrack even calls the jihadists “very loyal” — apparently it’s smarter to keep your enemies close.
These jihadis are from ETIM and TIP, designated terrorist groups in China some are former members of HTS AKA al-Nusra, al-Qaeda’s Syrian branch and form a core of elite suicide squads.
They’re getting top jobs in Syria’s new armed forces and China is waving red flags.
Chinese UN envoy Fu Cong issued a warning in March that “foreign terrorist fighters from Idlib are spreading all over Syria, and that’s a serious threat.” Beijing has been ringing alarm bells about ETIM and TIP’s creeping influence across Central Asia, South Asia and the Middle East
ETIM openly vows to “return to Xinjiang for Jihad” — they’re not subtle and a growing menace for Eurasia.
“Very loyal” extremists are being retrained and rearmed under Syria’s new flag and the 84th Division could be the start of jihadism going mainstream.
Syria fell very fast. Would this have been a planned move or a hoped for results in quiet preparation for destabilizing China? Jolani was groomed for his new job.
