On the War against Iran theme.

The Nuclear deal in its current form cannot be renewed.  “In my opinion, the 2015 pact in its current form cannot be revived. It would not be in our interest because our nuclear situation has advanced significantly and we can no longer return to previous conditions,” Iranian FM Abbas Araqchi said.

Here is what is valid now.  Talk or Sanctions.  There are threats of course; the continual talk from Israel and the threats from the US because Iran supports the Houthis.

Tehran was recently sent a letter from US President Donald Trump, granting Iran two months to decide whether to engage in talks or face stricter sanctions as part of the renewed “maximum pressure” campaign.

There also is internal backlash from Trump supporters regarding the attack on Yemen. Marjory Taylor Green is a stalwart Trump supporter and she is speaking out.  “I have not heard a single American say they want another war in the Middle East or anywhere else. Not one. All I’ve heard is a loud cry demanding our government and its leaders “PUT AMERICA FIRST!” I don’t support going to war on behalf of other countries. I support peace and fixing our own massive problems for our own people. It’s literally my job title. U.S. Representative.”

I’ve mentioned that Russia is generally quiet regarding the negotiations toward a cease-fire with the Ukraine.  (Not that we have much confidence here at GlobalSouth.co).

There is a comment now:

In terms of the continual breaking of the partial cease-fire agreed between Presidents Putin and Trump, and the almost immediate and ongoing strikes on energy infrastructure, we’ve had a comment from FM Lavrov:

“The Russian Federation reserves the right to a symmetrical response in connection with Ukraine’s ongoing strikes on energy facilities, the Foreign Ministry reported.”

There is press from the US that Zelenski has agreed to hold elections.  (If you ask me, this is buying time only).

Never trust the US.  It is fair for any state to manage both migration and those that seek citizenship in another country.  In fact the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, states this without prevarication.  Article 13, section 2: Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country.  It is good to read that document. https://www.un.org/en/about-us/universal-declaration-of-human-rights  

It is not fair and not human to punish people for what a previous administration did.   Trump stood for president, he won, he set together his administration.  Now he takes responsibility partially, and not fully.  Blaming the other fellow (Biden and his administration) and then taking punitive action, not on the previous administration, but the ordinary people shows the empire is untrustworthy.   (They pop in and pop out of acceptance of the UN founding documents as they like).  Note that nobody knows yet who killed Kennedy, that the Epstein papers are not available and probably in the process of being redacted and to call on an old canard, Hillary Clinton is free as a bird.

Mass deportations in the US?

The Department of Homeland Security said on Friday that it would revoke the temporary legal status of more than 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans welcomed into the US under a Biden-era sponsorship process, according to a notice posted to the Federal Register and signed by the homeland security chief Kristi Noem.

Trump said on 6 March that he would decide “very soon” whether to strip the parole status from some 240,000 Ukrainians who have fled to the US during the conflict with Russia. Trump’s remarks came in response to a Reuters report that said his administration planned to revoke the status for Ukrainians as soon as April.

These people followed the legal route that was made available to them. The US ‘buries’ its mistakes; it does not rectify them and takes punitive action ‘on the graves’ so to speak.  Then they call themselves peacemakers.

Yesterday, US President’s national security adviser Michael Waltz made it known we had had a telephone conversation. I would like to confirm such a conversation did in fact take place. Michael Waltz and I speak on the phone regularly. I should say this kind of communication is of good use to both sides.

That time, speaking in light of the agreement reached between the Presidents of Russia and the United States, we discussed holding a meeting between expert task forces from both countries, aimed initially at examining the prospects for a possible implementation of the well-known proposals concerning the safety of navigation in the Black Sea. I would like to point out that the relevant package of agreements was concluded back in June 2022 with assistance from UN Secretary-General [Antonio] Guterres, but these agreements never took full effect.

Mr Waltz and I agreed that experts appointed by the two presidents will hold bilateral consultations to discuss the issue. The consultations will be held in Riyadh on Monday, March 24. The Russian delegation will include Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin and advisor to the Director of the Federal Security Service Sergey Beseda. They are truly experienced negotiators who are well versed in international issues.

We hope that the upcoming Monday consultations will be productive.

China halts US LNG imports as trade war reroutes deliveries

China hasn’t imported liquefied natural gas from the US for 40 days, the longest gap in almost two years, as traders are forced to divert shipments elsewhere to avoid Beijing’s tariffs on the super-chilled fuel.

The barren streak is the most extended since June 2023, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg. There currently aren’t any US shipments en route to China either, according to ship-tracking data from Kpler, an analytics firm.

The trade war provoked by the Trump administration is threatening to decouple the world’s biggest LNG seller and buyer. Beijing slapped a 15% tariff on US LNG shipments from Feb. 10 in retaliation for blanket American levies on Chinese exports. In response, Chinese gas buyers with long-term commitments to US projects are reselling those shipments to Europe, according to traders.

Migrant Deportation from the US

This is not a system that one can admire. El Salvador is now a new penal colony of the US, similar to Guantanamo Bay. Venezuela’s ruling socialist party organized a mass march against Trump’s deportation policies. The protest was sparked by the deportation of over 230 Venezuelan migrants, who were sent to a notoriously brutal prison in El Salvador. They were accused of being gang members. They may be gang, I don’t know – there is no rule of law. The US is advertising their disrespect of humanity. Gaza and the Palestinians are the poster children of this inhumane view.
