The Indonesian Mosque Council, or the Dewan Masjid Indonesia (DMI), has announced plans to build 100 mosques across the Gaza Strip, said former Indonesian Vice President Muhammad Jusuf Kalla. The plans were prepared in response to the urgent needs of the people of Gaza, especially with the approaching holy month of Ramadan.

“It is important to inform the Indonesian community about the situation in Gaza, and that more than 1,000 mosques in Gaza have been destroyed by the Israeli occupation within a year and a half,” explained Kalla, who currently serves as Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Management Council.

“As a first step, the Council will build 10 semi-permanent mosques, with the total number ultimately reaching 100 mosques.”

On Thursday evening, the occupying regime released 110 Palestinian prisoners, of whom 30 were minors, 32 had received life sentences, and 48 were serving prison terms of different duration.

DeepSeek (R1), the cheap Chinese LLM Chatbot, is the most disruptive internet technology of our age.  And what it disrupts is the view that the US is still ahead technologically.  People are flocking to DeepSeek for all kinds of assignments and consider it streaks ahead of ChatGPT.  It came from a nothing little company in China, who were interested and they developed it as a side-deal from their normal business.   The technology costs a fraction of others, it was released under an open source license, and they say today: “DeepSeek has had to suspend new registrations due to cyber attacks on its site, the price of shaving off $1 trillion off the New York stock exchange?”.  They had to use chips that were a few releases behind the US chips because of trade sanctions, but instead, they made up a perfect product.  The company had to develop this AI Chatbot in a way to maximize the software design and development because they did not have chips to give it an extra push.  We have some of the China Writer’s Group that are already skilled in using it, feeding it their requirements for data intensive work in academia or research, for example how they want endnotes, the percentage of Chinese sources vs Western sources and exactly which type of publication must be queried and which type not.  The Chatbot returns and confirms the requirements and then goes off to do just that.

 China wins big. This application wipes out just about every Western-developed application by orders of magnitude. Trump just secured massive investment from the Saudis, up to a trillion dollars, for the development of AI and data centers, and here comes DeepSeek (R1), developed for 6 Million, and within a few weeks, it beats the field.

Trump when he was asked about why did he release the 2,000-pound bomb shipment to Israel? His answer: Because they bought and paid for them.

We need to adjust some thinking. There used to be a discussion as to who is the boss here, Israel with all their influence in the US, or the US. Adjust, they are one.

The breathless headlines marveling at his “accomplishments”—the flurry of executive orders, the circus of photo-ops—are scripted illusions. Those executive orders? Prewritten, focus-grouped, bankrolled by dark corners of power. His omnipresence? A meticulously curated media barrage, every smirk and scowl photographed and video, weaponized. What we witness is not resurgence but desperation: a dying empire pantomiming strength, waving outdated scripts (“Relocate Palestinians? Seize the beaches!”) to a bloodthirsty crowd.

But here is the truth: The resistance is rising. From Colombia’s Gustavo Petro, who defies imperial threats with the thunder of “Overthrow me, and the Americas will answer,” to the global chorus rejecting this farce, solidarity is our weapon. No dictator, no puppet, no empire can extinguish this fire.

The tide is turning. The world is wrenching the hegemon into its grave—a bloated beast thrashing in its death throes, Trump its garish mascot. We are the counterforce. We are the ones who hold hands across borders, who become Sinwar’s Stick—unyielding, rooted, unbroken.

Look at this hollow puppetry. How many times have we heard Trump say: Putin wants to meet with me or it is important that we meet, we need to meet immediately and similar words. Well, from Peskov this morning: “Moscow still hasn’t received word from Washington about possible Trump, Putin contact… Readiness for meeting remains.” – Peskov
Now many are discussing issues such as: “Is Trump throwing the game deliberately?”, “What are the signals?”. It does not matter. The ‘signals’ do not matter in this case. What matters is the action and in this case, it looks like there is none. We can speculate for weeks long why that is, and build real fancy scenarios, but the fact of the matter is, there is no action. Hence a large part of the new administration’s words can be tossed in the bin as non-actionable and empty game playing.

Lebanese civilians from the South have made their decision: no barriers, rubble, or Israeli checkpoints will stop them. After 60 days of ceasefire, they are reclaiming their towns and returning home—even as Israel refuses to withdraw.

Gaza is going back to the North, on foot, on donkey cart, carried on the backs of others. The residents of Gaza City have begun returning to the northern areas after enduring over a year of displacement and after the IDF’s withdrawal from the western end of the Netzarim Corridor.

What do Gaza and Auschwitz have in common? Both are emblematic of the cruelty and resilience witnessed during genocide. Today marks the 80th anniversary of the historical liberation of Auschwitz. Russia, who liberated the camp, is not at the commemoration but Germany, who started the war, is. Russia, who liberated the camp, is not at the commemoration but Poland, who was rescued by Russia and administering the commemoration, is.

From being the Nazis’ worst extermination camp to the lesser-known resistance of its inmates, Auschwitz remains a symbol of not only the suffering, but also the bravery witnessed during the Holocaust.

And as we remember the liberation of Auschwitz 80 years on, we are reminded of the Auschwitz of our time: Gaza, yet another symbol of bravery amid suffering. I don’t even want to report Netanyahu’s words because they cause physical distress.
