Sequelae of colonialism: the pathological obsession with being accepted by the West
With thanks to our dear friend, Quantum Bird
Note: Quantum Bird unerringly puts his finger on the deeper malaise that develops as a result of colonization.
We often remind our audience that colonization doesn’t happen on the ground. It can only be physically occupied. Colonization happens in the minds of the natives.
To cut to the chase, here’s an example of a colonized mind, of the “useful idiot” variety:

“The promises of the leaders of America and Europe to cease-fire in exchange for us not responding to the assassination of Haniyeh were pure lies” – Masoud Pezeshkian, Iranian President
The newly-elected Iranian president and his cabinet of pro-Western reformists — Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif included — decided to ignore the Supreme Leader’s instructions to proceed with the retaliation for the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, indefinitely postponing the Iranian response because the collective West had promised a ceasefire in Gaza. Haniyeh was the head of Hamas’ political bureau and its main negotiator. He was killed in a supposedly Israeli operation in Tehran, on July 31, just a few hours after attending the inauguration of Masoud Pezeshkian.
It matters little that since Haniyeh’s assassination, Israel has systematically increased the scale of its aggression against civilians from Gaza, Lebanon, and other countries in the region connected to the Axis of Resistance. It also matters little that Iranian inaction allowed Israel to muster the political, military, and moral strengths to brutally attack Lebanon, massacring hundreds of civilians, to assassinate many of the senior Hezbollah’s leadership, including Hassan Nasrallah himself.
Can you understand the severity of the pathology? Or the magnitude of the brain damage in the mind of the colonized?
Where was Pezeshkian during the negotiations and signing of the Iran Nuclear Deal (JCPOA) and its arbitrary and unilateral revocation by the US, followed by a brutal escalation of the sanctions regime, to destroy the Iranian economy? Or did he not know about the countless assassinations of scientists, politicians, and military commanders, as well as the successive attempts to trigger color revolutions in his own country? In the wider context, everyone has witnessed the collective West’s dishonest dealings with Russia in the Minsk Accords, with China in a series of other disputes, and the continued theft of Venezuelan economic resources. In 2024, one could list the examples of the collective West’s dishonesty ad infinitum.
The situation has become so sensitive that, to avoid further discrediting, the Iranian authorities have strongly condemned the attacks, but avoided promising revenge for the assassination of Nasrallah and Abbas Nilforoushan, the deputy commander of operations for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The truth is that while Iran is reluctant to act decisively to re-establish the equations of deterrence to avoid a direct confrontation with the US, the same US is creating the conditions to deprive Iran of its allies in the region. In other words, the reluctance to respond adequately to avoid war is, in fact, precipitating war.
As I write, popular protests calling for Pezeshkian’s resignation are growing, as is the agitation in parliament about the need to revise the nuclear weapons doctrine. Israel, on the other hand, seems to see a window of opportunity to decapitate the Iranian regime and its allies as well. In other words, the balance has been broken: while one side is prudently reluctant, the other is delirious in genocidal frenzy. There’s no way it can end well.

A people gets the leader it chooses. (If it can choose.) But how well that choice turns out depends on whether the people: + is well informed in the breadth and depth of all important issues, + is not brainwashed, + being presented with clear scenarios/visions from which to choose,… Read more »
You know what this whole conversation makes me think of? What is a peacemaker? If somebody would stop shooting for a moment, I can write on that – at the moment I hear the verse from the Old Testament Christian bible .. quoted from memory: And they will cry peace,… Read more »
Pro-Western “reformers” or “democrats” are just a devious form of Pro-Western traitor.
The West has specialized in proselytizing the false gospel of Western freedom and democracy for centuries to indoctrinate and groom these Pro-Western traitors in all nations.
The West is the ultimate “groomer” civilization.
None are so blind and simultaneously so blatantly deluded as the colonisers themselves. This author is a great example of this western tendency to call out international traitors while at home lacking any agency or capacity to elect ANYONE except traitors. I despise this kind of journalism that pretends solidarity… Read more »
This is quite unfair to QB. He doesn’t call him a traitor. He states what most who observe compradore elites of the West do — they really are mentally colonized, suffering from fatal Stockholm Syndrome. This is a bitter reality in all civilizational-states — from most to least : India,… Read more »
Well its insufferable western judgement AHH, and also he offers no proof just opinion, and you are also accusing them of being sloppy now? Well I guess you have all the evidence at hand as well before making such defamatory claims? Anyway of course there will always be traitors ,… Read more »
K, you need a filter We’re trying to tell you this is a widely held view! Worldwide. Majority. Not a fringe view at all. So what if the author is western?! I, Amarynth, and most readers grew up or lived/live in the West. These are often the best critics, being… Read more »
He was a naive limpwristed liberal that again believed the western lie. Lies that we here told over and over again were lies, and shams. It was a year of lies and shams. He had to come clean and say he was lied to. Khameini took over and made the… Read more »
Well Amarynth either The Iranian PM knew about the coming strike and was play acting at the UN (my take) or he didn’t know and was overruled by the Ayotollah (far fetched under the circumstances imo) I’d just like to know what your proof is of his being limp wristed… Read more »
Of course the new Prez knew a strike was coming (!!!) He was explicitly and publicly ORDERED by his boss. He couldn’t get out of it. Do you know that in Iran, Khamanei is ultimate authority, and directly runs the military and strategic affairs? Their Prez is more for managing… Read more »
I really think you are forcing the – speculative – hand here. We have even Prof Marandi, a most respected Iranian interlocutor, analyst and academic, part of the government, telling in a live with the guys of DD Geopolitics that he had opposed Pezeshkian speaking at UN this year. As… Read more »
I got the impression that you did not read the article well. The word traitor is not even written there. Traitors act out of malicious intent. I don’t think it is the case of Iranian president. In his case, what I see is someone turning off, or even lacking, the… Read more »
I appreciate your reply Quantum Bird, and i wasn’t meaning to attack you just your pov. I didn’t use my words carefully enough so i apologise if it came across as personal. Yes i read it carefully. And in my view you made unsubstantiated accusations. Here: To cut to the… Read more »
Yes I can understand the severity of this pathology. And it afflicts the other civilizational-states, by various degrees.. None will deceive and seduce so many, of all cultures, and turn reality on its head, than the actor behind current events. The chief battlefield where we are defeated is between the… Read more »
