Aside from the western POV of desiring a quick knock-out victory, and not appreciating the Asian way of war, or responsible attrition in age of WMDs? Recall Karaganov’s similar point of a massive needed punch, albeit much stronger, to wake the hubristic from the current inevitable slide into Armageddon. The point both make is that the combined West has decided, and embarked on, a world war against all other civilizations… is the opposing response — too cool, unhurried, and low key — adequate to the gravity of the situation

PCR is a wonderful gentleman with an absolute wealth of experience and knowledge, but I cannot agree with him regarding his criticism of Putin’s patience and restraint.
