And the Empire strikes back! France refuses to leave and supports military action in Niger.

PARIS, August 28. /TASS/. France is set to support any efforts, including military intervention, made by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to restore constitutional order in Niger, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday.

“We support the diplomatic and, if it is decided, the military activity of ECOWAS,” he said, adding that Paris will not drop its support for legitimately elected President Mohamed Bazoum.

Niger told the French Ambassador to leave the country.  The French refused on the basis that the current government was not competent to make them leave.   Niger besieged the French embassy and other French ‘bases’.

Niger’s military administration has cut off water and electricity to the French Embassy in the capital Niamey with no food deliveries allowed.  The country’s leadership has also taken similar action at the French consulate in Zinder.  The president of the National Support Committee for the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Country, Elh Issa Hassoumi Boureima, has asked all partners of French bases in Niger to suspend all water and electricity supplies and food products.  In addition, any partners who continue to help the French in the process of supplying the goods and services will be considered “enemies of the sovereign people.”

The previous 24 hours of the SMO

▫️ Last night, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a strike with long-range airborne high-precision weapons against an airfield near Pinchuky (Kiev region). The objective of the strike has been achieved. All the assigned targets have been engaged.

It is stunning that the Ukrainian KIA numbers remain high.  I had this idea that we could look at this number and draw conclusions on how active Ukraine still is in active battle.  For last night, it remains in excess of 700 + and this is the low estimate.

There is incredible footage on various channels as well as the Russian MoD channel, where Ukrainians are literally blown out of their trenches and land in pieces.

Drone strikes are continuing apace from Ukraine into Russian territory.  Take a look at Brian Berletic’s update.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fKRxGil8KE

Summary:

West & Ukraine Trade Blame, Talk Wonder Weapons, as Critical Juncture Approaches

▪️Ukraine’s offensive nears 3 months of fighting and has yet to breach Russia’s first of several defensive lines;

▪️Russia not only continues frustrating Ukraine’s offensive, it is launching its own offensive in the northeast that is gaining momentum;

▪️Amid the failing offensive, Ukraine and its Western sponsors trade blame and argue over the best course forward;

▪️Talk continues to be made regarding “wonder weapons” like F-16 and JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets despite the implausible nature of using either effectively in battle;

▪️A juncture is approaching where the West will have to decide whether to allow Ukraine to begin irreversibly collapsing or intervene more directly;

Viva Hackers!

Last night in Poland, hackers interfered with the radio frequencies that coordinate the work of the Polish railway. They stopped the movement of more than 20 trains, writes the newspaper Wyborcza.

But the interference did not end there – during the pause, the hackers played the Russian anthem and President Vladimir Putin’s speech on the trains.

The Empire hits back.  Compare this with the Glowy Water Dump and see the delirium and more attempts at American supremacism.  (Language Warning)

Aug 26

Oh, the glowy water dump!

The United States reaffirmed its support for the release of treated radioactive water from Japan’s destroyed nuclear power plant in Fukushima, calling it safe and transparent.

Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the Department of State, also said the US is happy with the level of transparency Japan has shown in the lead up to the release.

The statement, however, comes amid concerns and opposition from Japan’s neighboring countries, as well as its own fishing population, that the release of treated water into the Pacific Ocean may have a long-term, irreversible impact on the environment and people.

This is one of those unbelievable things.  It may destroy Japan’s business environment as China and other neighbors are closing imports of Japanese products.  China is the biggest importer of Japan’s fish and seafood, and I saw just recently, that the ban on imports is growing to other products as well.  But, it may be a slow destruction that will only show up in the years to come for the whole of the world.  I cannot believe that they went ahead with this dump.

China’s top market regulator on Friday said that it will step up the supervision targeting food safety for aquatic products while strengthening the monitoring of salt prices following the Japanese government’s greenlighting the dumping of nuclear-contaminated wastewater into the ocean.

The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) will urge merchants to strictly follow the corresponding regulations and strictly prohibit the use and purchase of aquatic products from Japan, SAMR said in a statement on its official WeChat account. The agency will step up the sampling and testing of aquatic products in the market, and will implement strict punishment for violating behaviors.

China’s General Administration of Customs (GAC) announced on Thursday that it decided to fully suspend aquatic products originating from Japan, which aims to “comprehensively prevent the risk of radioactive contamination caused by the discharge of nuclear-contaminated water from Fukushima to food safety, protect the health of Chinese consumers, and ensure the safety of imported food.”

SAMR meanwhile also called for strengthening over the monitoring of salt prices nationwide by establishing a connecting mechanism, with an increased price supervision and law enforcement on illegal acts of price gouging.

Chinese consumers rushed to snap up salt on Thursday as many salt products on Chinese e-commerce platforms were displayed as being sold out, with the exception of a number of imported products and sea salt.

Lula can still be Lula, if he is not under pressure.  “At 77 […] I have been reborn in politics […] I’m leaving here with the certainty that, finally, another World is possible.” – President Lula in Johannesburg, South Africa last night after the end of the 15th BRICS summit.

And the Pope wants observer status.  Pope Francis would like the Vatican to receive observer status in the BRICS, similar to the status in the UN.

Don’t feed the machine.

There are gigabytes of trolling out just everywhere on how bad Putin took out Prigozin.   Be aware not to feed this machine, because it became a machine almost overnight.  Some msm headlines: “Putin’s chilling mockery of the mistakes of his rivals,” “A bomb blew up the plane of Putin’s critic”:

The Global Times commented on the cognitive and information warfare, and they also warn that more will come:

While the results of the investigation are still not clear, the US and its allies pointed the finger at Putin, which is aimed at discrediting him at home and disrupting Russia’s internal unity and stability, Chinese military expert Song Zhongping told the Global Times.

This is cognitive and information warfare against Russia launched by the West, Song added.

Drones are now being used in swarms – so far, not very effectively:

Last night, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks by fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles on the territory of the Russian Federation was foiled.

Air defence systems detected 42 unmanned aerial vehicles. As a result of the Russian Armed Forces’ actions over the territory of the Republic of Crimea, nine UAVs were destroyed, 33 were neutralised by electronic warfare means and crashed without reaching the target.

BRICS and the Argentina surprise.

Argentina’s current government said it will accept the invitation to join BRICS in 2024 But elections are in October, and far-right candidate Javier Milei and right-wing candidate Patricia Bullrich both are extremely pro-US and would refuse to join BRICS

Argentina’s extreme-right presidential candidate Javier Milei says that, if he wins the elections, he will refuse to join BRICS: “Our geopolitical alignment is with the U.S. and Israel. We are not going to align with communists”, the fascist declared.

Lula fought for this one.  Lula will own it.

Mr Putin is an honest and honorable man.

Putin on the crash of Prigozhin’s plane: As for this airplane crash, first of all, I would like to express my sincere condolences to the families of all the victims, it is always a tragedy.
Primary data suggests that employees of the Wagner company were there. These are people who made a significant contribution to our common cause of fighting the neo-Nazi regime in Ukraine. We remember this, we know it, and we will not forget it. I knew Prigozhin a long time ago – since the early 90s. He was a man of complicated fate. He had serious mistakes in his life. He achieved the results he needed for himself and when I asked him to do so for the common cause, as in these last months.
He was a talented man, a talented businessman, he worked not only in our country, he worked abroad, in Africa, in particular. He was involved in oil, gas, precious metals and stones.

Yesterday he just returned from Africa, he met with some officials here. But what is absolutely certain, the head of the Investigative Committee reported to me this morning, they have already started a preliminary investigation into the incident. It will be conducted in full and brought to a conclusion, there is no doubt about that. We will see what the investigators will say in the near future. And now the examination, technical and genetic expertise is being conducted. It will take some time.

I find some commenting on Prigozin as odious as some commenting on Gonzalo Lira.  Some of it sure exposes the commentator in a desperate grasp of a false pretension to be right!  This is hubris, arrogance and bigoted ignorance.  This man, a businessman, fought for Russia.  And now, go and read Mr. Putin’s comments again.  Who will cast the first stone!

German Foreign Minister Disappointed In Lack Of Effect Of Sanctions On Russian Economy

Annalena Baerbock said the restrictions against Russia did not produce the expected economic results.

This war cannot be ended with rational decisions and rational measures taken by civilized governments,” she said.

Slowly the Ukraine is being wiped off the map.

▫️Last night, the Russian Armed Forces have launched a long-range sea- and ground-based high-precision group strike against a decision-making centres of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For the developing world (and we will always remain a developing world) The BRICS summit and increase in membership is the biggest and incredibly important news.   https://sovereignista.com/2023/08/24/brics1-on-day-three-new-members-johannesburg-ii-declaration-of-the-xv-brics-summit/

I love this short nutshell Nuri Vittachi video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNczz4xRZiQ

Today is the final day.  The all-important Johannesburg II Declaration is out and from that, and statements from Mr Putin, it was not an easy ride to get to this.  The document itself is a testament of the very difficult use of language, it speaks of fear of standing against the hegemon from certain quarters and there was a distinct sense of self-promotion, instead of BRICS promotion from certain countries.  I believe Mr Lavrov worked the corridors and the waiting areas whole-heartedly and skillfully.  With certainty, we are here because of Putin, Xi Jinping and their high level support personnel.  This is why Xi Jinping said that he will be involved in ‘shaping the growth of BRICS’.

(Between you and me, I’m wondering if Argentina even knows it is now a member of BRICS – I picked up a funny comment searching for any news from Argentina:  “Not sure about Argentina, Haven’t they just elected a far right barmpot as leader ?“).

Do the Russian and Chinese mainstream media, particularly the latter, cover this? I’d expect them to since those two countries are bereft of any US military bases, have been in the USA’s crosshairs and have criticized Tokyo’s decision to dump the nuclear wastewater.

On another note…
I remember it was in February 2021 when news came out that China’s state-sponsored CCTV would be broadcasting Japanese anime for the first time in 14 years. One of the two given reasons was the improvement of relations between the two nations. I was a happy man… for the next two months… up until April when the dumping plan was announced in what I can’t help but compare to 9/11 (apologies in advance if the analogy is inappropriate).
My money is still on the USA using the Fukushima water dumping as a ploy to, if you pardon the wordplay, poison any relations between Japan and China just as the ‘Anglo-Saxons’ have been driving Germany against Russia at the former’s expense.
