Russian MoD:

This morning an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by seven unmanned aerial vehicles and two unmanned semisubmersible boats on facilities on the territory of the Crimean peninsula near Sevastopol was foiled.

▫️ Two Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed by air defence facilities over the waters of the Black Sea at a great distance from the coastline.

▫️ Five more UAVs were suppressed by electronic warfare equipment and crashed without reaching the targets.

▫️ Also in the northern part of the Black Sea, two unmanned AFU boats were detected and destroyed by standard weapons of water area protection boats.

▫️ As a result of the foiled terrorist attack, there were no casualties or damage.

China and Russia Commence Joint Air and Sea Exercise in the Sea of Japan

China’s defense ministry announced that a Chinese naval flotilla embarked on a mission to the Sea of Japan on Sunday, joining Russian naval and air forces in an exercise focused on safeguarding the security of strategic waterways.

The exercise, codenamed “Northern/Interaction-2023,” signifies an intensified military cooperation between China and Russia.

The AFU continue to attempt offensive actions in Donetsk, Krasny Liman and South Donetsk directions says the Russian MoD this morning.  Over the past three days, the kia numbers are lower and although there is fighting, it almost seems as if there is less of it.  Is it a trend as yet?  I don’t know.   As usual there is much speculation in the circles of the commentators and some speculate on Russian advances.  Suppression of Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are being reported more frequently.

The NYT states that Ukraine is taking a pause to change its strategy.

Now we have to see if Ukraine still has reserves, or if they will be supplied with a brand new Army by NATO or if Russia will act in some decisive way.  It is a pregnant pause.

NATO ‘Source Of All Troubles’ – China’s UN Envoy

Zhang Jun categorically denied NATO’s accusations against Beijing and pointed out that the North Atlantic Alliance is the “source of all troubles” that leaves a “dirty trail” wherever it appears.  Beijing’s top diplomat detailed to the UN was responding partly to the final statement from the NATO summit participants, which emphasized the bloc’s concern with the buildup of China’s nuclear arsenal.

He noted that some NATO countries “pursued double standards.” They place weapons on the territory of other states and exacerbate regional tensions.”

Putin’s invite to BRICS. So, I am sure something went wrong in the language here, but I also cannot find what was actually said:

We would be happy if Putin did not attend the BRICS summit in person – Vice President of South Africa.

“Russia rejected the request of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa that the Russian delegation at the BRICS summit in August be headed by Sergey Lavrov instead of Vladimir Putin,” Paul Mashatile said.

According to him, South Africa understands that it is bound by the Rome Statute of the ICC, however, does not want to allow the arrest of any of the Russian high-ranking officials. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Peskov noted that the format of Putin’s participation in the summit is still being discussed.

According to the South African president, the BRICS discussions will be as follows:

“The interest in the upcoming #BRICS Summit has been overwhelming, with a number of countries seeking to join #BRICS as members and this is one of the items we will be reflecting on as #BRICS Leaders. We will also reflect on the geopolitical situation, the need for financial support to support development efforts on the continent and climate change.”

There seems to be a coup d’état being attempted or in process in Guatemala.  The country is waiting for a run-off election set for August 20th.

FM Lavrov had an interview with Lenta.ru on Wednesday, July 12.  Russia just escalated without escalating.

… Just one example of an extremely dangerous development is the US plans to transfer F-16 fighter jets to the Kiev regime. We have informed the nuclear powers-the United States, Great Britain and France, Russia cannot ignore the ability of these aircraft to carry nuclear weapons. No amount of reassurance will help here.

In the course of combat operations, our military will not understand whether each specific aircraft of the specified type is equipped for the delivery of nuclear weapons or not. The very fact of the appearance of such systems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be considered by us as a threat from the West in the nuclear sphere.

This then I would consider the most major outcome of the NATO summit.  The summit itself can only be described as much gas emitted from many gasbags.  Quote Martyanov: “.. a show of complete imbecility.”

That sub in Guantanamo Bay – from the Chinese Foreign Ministry via Wang Wenbin –  Regular Press Conference on July 13, 2023

CCTV: According to reports, the Cuban foreign ministry said in a statement on July 11 that it strongly rejects the arrival of a nuclear-powered submarine in the Guantanamo Bay and its stay for days at the US military base located there, which is a provocative escalation. The statement also said that the US has illegally occupied that territory for over 120 years against the will of the Cuban people, and its practical usefulness in recent decades has been limited to operating as a center of detention, torture and systematic violation of the human rights of citizens from several countries. Do you have any comment on this?

Wang Wenbin: As Cuba’s foreign ministry noted in its statement, this US move is a violation of Cuba’s sovereignty.

At the 2014 Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Havana, 33 members of CELAC adopted a declaration proclaiming Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace. The US muscle-flexing runs counter to regional countries’ aspiration for peace, which once again exposes its hegemonic and bullying nature.

China firmly supports Cuba in upholding its sovereignty and dignity, firmly opposes interference in Cuba’s internal affairs and firmly rejects the US’s six-decades-long ruthless blockade, political suppression and economic sanctions against Cuba. We urge the US to stop military provocation and lift its blockade and sanctions on Cuba as soon as possible.

China warns NATO against destabilizing Asia-Pacific – https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202307/1294249.shtml

“Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a routine press conference on Wednesday that “We urge NATO to stop groundless accusations and provocative remarks against China,” and that it should “give up the wrong approach of seeking absolute security, stop messing up Europe and stop trying to destabilize the Asia-Pacific and the rest of the world.”

Deterioration in Russo-Turkish relations: 5 days ago, Russia vetoed UN resolution on Syria cross-border aid delivery through Türkiye.  In force since 2014, the Bab al-Hawa border crossing had been the key mechanism NATO used to resupply its 100,000+ terrorist proxies via the sole UN-approved border checkpoint into Syria. It was a… Read more »

What is the Russia-Turkey relationship? They are not allies in anything. They are not partners in anything except gas distribution. Everything else, trade, tourism, security, Eurasia, sanctions, Ukraine, terror support, and on and on is conflictual. There needs to be a new category of ‘less than enemy’. Perhaps, in honor… Read more »

Hahaha. It is not as bad dear Larch. Turk-Russian relations were frankly sulphuric in the past.. current polls show most non-elite Turks actually trust and value Russia over the West (!) This is unprecedented in perhaps the last 700 years! It is an additional excruciating humiliation for the Turk elites,… Read more »

He doesn’t need jets. He needs juice, big billions of dollars. Here’s an asymmetrical idea for the Sultan: Lease the Dardanelles to Russia and China. Give them a 25 yr. lease and get paid instead of paying back IMF loans and handing over your Central Bank to the West. This… Read more »

Ishchenko reviews implications of F-16s appearing in the Ukraine, in the face of futility of reversing the NATO loss. The main practical effect and consequence of inserting F-16s is to lower the threshold of nuclear war.

I saw this TG. Both can’t be true.. one of them is western 5th column outright lying and trying desperately to scupper this VIP summit.

This sure is damaging SA’s standing. Mission accomplished.

Mr Putin should not go. His would-be hosts are clearly panicking by the thought of him coming. If any assurances are made they should not be trusted.

BRICS will survive this. It won’t be just BRICS soon enough anyway.

Liz, I do not think Russia is boxing itself in, just giving NATO a reality check.

And a response does not have to be nuclear — destruction of the F-16s airfield or airfields would be sufficient.

No, they do not box themselves in. They have the clear and mature perspective; everything happening now was gamed long ago.
