Daily Chronicles

The Daily Chronicles are snippets of the most important news across the world (and a joke or two) for this and each day as it rolls in – as such, this thread is non-structured with the latest news on top.

After President Putin’s speech, Lukashenko had his turn.  RT reports:

The opposition in Belarus was prepared to stage an armed coup amid the revolt by the Wagner private military company in Russia, but was prevented from fulfilling its plans, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has claimed, according to the state-run BelTa news agency.

Lukashenko said on Tuesday that his opponents had started “buzzing with activity” when Wagner launched its mutiny in the neighboring country last week. “But it was a false start,” he added.

The opposition “has already published its appeals and plans… that they are also ready to implement the scenario of an armed rebellion [in Belarus],” the president claimed. “They’re trying to demonstrate at least some results to their curators [abroad].”

“When the events in Russia were happening, I gave all the orders to put the army on full combat alert,” Lukashenko said, adding that the same was true for the police and the special forces.

Prigozhin made a speech and the channel Donbas Devushka translated.

Prigozhin’s first comments about the attempted rebellion:

▪️As a result of intrigues, ill-conceived decisions, Wagner PMC was supposed to cease to exist on July 1, 2023.

▪️ PMC Wagner did not want to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense, because this would lead to a complete loss of combat capability.

▪️Those fighters who were ready to go to the Ministry of Defense did so. But it was the minimum amount, estimated at 1-2%.

▪️ PMC Wagner wanted to become a part of any other structure in order to be useful to their Motherland, but they were not heard.

▪️Wagner were going to move as a convoy on June 30 to Rostov and publicly hand over the equipment near the headquarters of the SMO.

▪️“We did not show any aggression but we were under a missile attack. About 30 Wagner PMC fighters were killed. This was the trigger that we should move forward immediately.”

▪️During the entire march, which lasted 24 hours, Wagner covered 780 km, not a single soldier on the ground was killed. “We regret that we were forced to strike at air assets. But these weapons delivered missile strikes.”

▪️During the march, all military facilities that were along the road were blocked and neutralized.

▪️None of the fighters was forced into this campaign, and everyone knew the ultimate goal.

▪️The goal was to prevent the destruction of the PMC “Wagner” and to bring to justice the people who with their unprofessional actions made a huge number of mistakes during the military defense. This was demanded by the public, all the military personnel who saw us during the march supported us.

▪️We stopped at the moment when the first assault detachment, which approached 200 kilometers, made reconnaissance of the area and it was obvious that a lot of blood would be shed.

▪️Our decision to turn around were based on two factors: the fact that we did not want to shed Russian blood. The second factor is that we went to demonstrate our protest, and not to overthrow the government in the country.

▪️At this time, Lukashenko extended his hand and offered to find solutions for the further work of Wagner PMC.

▪️Our march of justice showed the most serious security problems throughout the country.

▪️We showed a master class of what February 24, 2022 should have looked like.

Mr.Lavrov had an interview with RT this morning which should soon be available on Rumble in video form.  Nothing much was new.  He confirmed that Relations with the collective West are now completely destroyed at the initiative of those countries.  Russian security services are investigating whether Western intelligence was involved in the June 24 situation.  Russian instructors will keep working in the Central African Republic.    He referred to the entire military, economic and information machine of the collective West that is working against Russia.

I was waiting for the Russian MoD report:

▫️ Last night, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a long-range maritime and airborne high-precision strike at foreign-made ammunition, sent to Ukraine by Western countries.

▫️ The goal of the strike has been achieved. All the assigned targets have been engaged.

Of course the Ukrainians thought there would be a coup or some kind of internal destabilization in Russia, and they attacked fiercely.  It did not help them any, but here is the MoD report in full, if only to compare and assess.  These soldiers and their commands did not miss a beat!  https://sovereignista.com/globalsouthforum/topic/daily-war-room/#post-15557

Rostov- on-Don. We love our President, We love Wagner, We love Akhmat, We have good military leaders – They will sort things out!  Wagner Wagner Wagner cheering and shouting and applauding!  (If this was a coup, I want one too!  The people sure have not lost that lovin’ feelin’.)

Jun 25

Wrapping up some of the aftermath:

Much is being said about the Prigozhin/PMC Wagner attempted coup.  The most visible now is the pain and mourning coming from the west.  They really wanted this to succeed and were licking their lips for a possible removal of President Putin.  This however, never was on the cards.

CNN explains it all and the headlines want to hold onto the event.  They do not want to let it go.

  • Moscow has stepped back from civil war with Wagner. But the danger’s not over, experts warn
  • CNN military analyst calls out ‘losers’ in Russia-Wagner conflict
  • Russia pulls back from brink of crisis after deal to end Wagner insurrection

The BBC has some endless reporting, titled:

  • Wagner pulls back in Russia but mutiny weakens Putin’s image of authority

Some US MSM reports that the US brass knew about it all along.

“U.S. intelligence agencies have known that the Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin was planning an uprising against the Russian military establishment since mid-June, the Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/06/24/us-intelligence-prigozhin-putin/) reported on June 24.

According to an unnamed official who spoke with the Washington Post, the agencies did not know exactly when the rebellion would take place, but were on high alert over the past two weeks.

The officials mentioned that the potential instability in Russia that could result from civil conflict was most concerning to U.S. officials.”

A quick check of the MSM after a major event such as this again proves that there really is nothing there.  There is nobody that understands what happened, but the incessant talk continues without a clue.

Larry Johnston presents a new Maskirovka scenario.  On this line of inquiry, I found this very comical presentation in one of the US patriot groupings.

Scott Ritter has good analysis which I believe is largely factual.  It is a day old and there were updates.  Essentially the crisis resolved itself within 24 hours with help from Lukashenko, Prigozhin’s exile to Belarus and Wagner forces being fully integrated into the Russian military;

It is stunning that Russia owned the screens and news media all over the world for a hot 48 hours.

The SMO went forward as usual and from what can be seen, the Russian military did not lose their focus.  It is also stunning that Prigozhin’s Coup happened as the Ukrainian forces came to somewhat of a standstill and it is clear that they are losing badly.

Some Chinese commentary:  Carl Zha from Silk and Steel Podcast happened to be in Moscow and here are his comments in an RT Interview:

Finally from the Chinese side, I received this:

Machiavelli’s warning against mercenaries:

I say, therefore, that the arms with which a prince defends his state are either his own, or they are mercenaries, auxiliaries, or mixed.Mercenaries and auxiliaries are useless and dangerous; and if one holds his state based on these arms, he will stand neither firm nor safe; for they are disunited, ambitious and without discipline, unfaithful, valiant before friends, cowardly before enemies; they have neither the fear of God nor fidelity to men, and [one’s own] destruction is deferred only so long as the attack is; for in peace one is robbed by them, and in war by the enemy. The fact is, that they have no other attraction or reason for keeping the field than a trifle of stipend, which is not sufficient to make them willing to die for you. …

I wish to demonstrate further the infelicity of these arms [i.e., mercenaries]. The mercenary captains are either capable men or they are not; if they are, you cannot trust them, because they always aspire to their own greatness, either by oppressing you, who are their master, or others contrary to your intentions; but if the captain [i.e., the leader of the mercenaries] is not skillful, you are ruined in the usual way [i.e., you will lose the war].

I’d like to move on to a very specific financial summit last week in France with Macron as the host.  It is titled the New Global Financing Pact Summit and is most probably a new financial arm of organizations such as WEF.  We also never discussed the end of Modi’s visit to the White House.  I’d like to pick up on those in the run-up to the BRICS meeting.  But first a little rest if it is possible this Sunday.

Feel free to use as open thread or visit The Hearty Salon.

Youtube is removing Carl Zha’s RT inverviews https://t.me/CarlZha/84. You can probably find them on Russian Today’s Odysee channel (and probably other platforms)
amarynth did not give a title, but I think it is probably this that was deleted:

Hi Wlaught2 – thanks for finding this! I have tremendous respect for Carl Zha’s historical and geopolitical knowledge. The following interview I feel is a must-watch for any Westerner that genuinely desires to know the disgraceful level of imperial raping along with the general humiliation of China. Of course, a… Read more »

Thanks Mr P and AHH, your views are thought-provoking as ever. There’s so many variables here I don’t know where to begin! Karagonov’s main premise seems to be centered around stopping further Anglo-led NATO provocations and escalations, by re-instilling the fear of death through N-bombs. The first of two weaknesses… Read more »

I was tempted to comment on Karaganov’s article about nuclear weapons a couple weeks ago, but didn’t. today he has doubled down on his point, which was dismissed per dogmatic reflex, by my estimation. https://www.rt.com/russia/578814-russia-has-to-consider-launching-nuclear-strike/ I don’t mean to contradict Putin, or the commentators on this site or other Russian… Read more »

Hi Liz! I expect we most all had and have similar thoughts about the union state, and the bomb. Of these Times a word “Vefremdungseffekt”… just on my mind this morning, such has spread like mist since 2000, especially. But to the bomb> There are expert computer modeled nuclear war… Read more »

Liz and Mr P, both your thoughts on the matter are insightful, thanks. I hope Karagonov’s article is but a bluff. It’s my view that a nuclear first-strike by Moscow would have tremendous negative consequences on Russia’s standing among its allies and friends, no matter how limited nuclear fallout would… Read more »

Thank you kindly. I note that no State survives a war without major change, and that in a major contest, one “becomes” the enemy, at least in degree. The US began the nuclear bluff in 1945, with real bombs…would a counter bluff with real bombs not be, somehow, symmetrical? I… Read more »

HT, conventional strikes may not deter those determined to unleash [limited] nuclear war. Yes, you’re right, (1) the West is already strategically defeated, every which way except nuclear. Yet it refuses to concede or even negotiate. And going by past behavior, it will keep escalating. (2) At every stage, the British were… Read more »

I’ve been hoping for a statement along those lines for some time. This is vitally important.

Just a note about “Nuclear Falseflag on Zap..” @ Mister Simple’s place. Esteened fella states several incorrect things having to do with atomic stuff, indicating his personal ignorance in that area. Really junior high science class level lack of even that… cum ganum salum…

A useful video on Wagner’s reach in Africa. Unfriendly site with plenty of agitprop, but as before, his maps and gist are helpful. And how premature was this to come out the day the Chef was burned?! Nevertheless, Wagner with a different belly dancer fronting it (and tight MoD leash) remains… Read more »

Here’s another reason Wagner was handled with kid gloves. It wasn’t merely about homefront sensibilities, but about huge legwork at stake in Africa. And Lavrov messages the PMC brand is being phased out, per their new muscular Concept of Foreign Policy. “Moscow can provide security directly to partner nations, the… Read more »

The reality is Prigozhin commanded about 20% of his PMC. Key commanders were not with him and so, he really had no force that could have held Rostov-on-Don much less ‘take Moscow’. If the plan was an uprising of the people would join his small group, where are the guns… Read more »

Yes agreed most Wagner were innocent of his plots. The real accomplices may be far fewer — 5% or less?? He was forced to trick even most of the few accompanying him; they thought they were headed to protect Belgorod. Many in Rostov openly gave up on his lunacy, choosing… Read more »

The march on Moscow hit the mother of all roadblocks: the region of Tula.. and its savvy governor Alexey Dyumin (a former Dep Def Minister slated to be future Def Min or even Putin successor). He was apparently the most persuasive negotiator with our distraught Hero the Chef.
