Personally, I take heart from this as an indication of the people of the US. In essence, the narrative became too ridiculous, too estranged from the realities of living that the US population faces, and with no one on the blue team talking about these issues. So they rejected all that, giving the red team a quasi-landslide, even with 15 million fewer voters, those who simply sat out this election.

I think this popular rejection is a force with a tangible effect on the political sensibilities of the day – I think it is possible at least that a lot of the catastrophe stacked up and ready to throw, may be held at bay by this sensibility of a popular will that wants a break from all the nonsense, and a focus on some issues.
