🏰 On September 11, 1812, a Russian community was founded 80 kilometres to the north of San Fransisco. The Americans called this community Fort Ross, which became the farthest settlement of Russian colonists and the southern vanguard of the Russian Empire in North America.

The beginning of the so-called Russian America on the northwestern coast of the American continent was marked by the discoveries made by the 2nd Kamchatka Expedition of Vitus Bering and Alexey Chirikov. They were followed by entrepreneurs who traveled there in search of furs. Thus, at the beginning of the 19th century, merchant and Chief Manager of Russian America Alexander Baranov decided to build a fortress, where he founded a Russian community in California.

🇷🇺 From May to September 1812, construction continued on the purchased land; a fortress and a village were built. On August 30 (September 11 OS) the Russian-American Company flag was hoisted over the fortress, a Russian tricolor with the imperial double-headed eagle.

Fort Ross is located on the coast in Northern California a 2.5-hour drive to the north of San Francisco. Most of the fort’s area has been restored with the initial layout preserved.

☝️ The population of the fortress was mixed and comprised Russians, Native Americans and Aleuts. Interestingly, the settlers lived peacefully side by side with the local people, and additionally gave them primary education and professional skills, with many Native Americans becoming carpenters, blacksmiths and shipbuilders at Fort Ross.

Today was the 169th anniversary of the famous defense of Sevastopol in the first Crimean war. It involved a coalition of Turks, Brits, and French against Russia. Such a massive attack on Sevastopol, with such damage, would not have been possible without:
– the participation of NATO intelligence
– without weapons supplied by NATO
– without the participation of enemy agents in Sevastopol itself and in Crimea as a whole.

The entire last week of August and the first days of September, indeed, was observed activity of NATO reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea. That is, preparations went on long before.
The missile attack came in waves. After the first strike, rescuers and firefighters went to the Desna dock. The enemy struck again. Many civilians were injured – they were caught in the blast wave and shrapnel.
Most likely, the attack was combined. Storm Shadow was used as the main weapon of destruction and, say, the S-200, as an auxiliary weapon, for mass production in order to overload our air defense.

What is the enemy doing? He is trying to lock the Black Sea Fleet in its bases and destroy it. NATO repeats the strategy of the German General Staff during the Great Patriotic War. Unfortunately, we too are repeating our mistakes of that time.

It is fundamentally important for NATO now, while hostilities are ongoing in Ukraine to finally deprive Russia of the fleet in the Black Sea. What is everything needed for? There is a NATO Black Sea strategy. In short: at some point, the Alliance realized that they were too focused on the Baltic and lost ground in the Black Sea. And the bloc’s task is to strengthen its presence in the Black Sea region by strengthening the fleets of Bulgaria and Romania, building new naval bases, which will, if not close the Black Sea to Russia, but weaken the ability to maneuver for our fleet.

Synchronizing the actions of the Baltic and Black Sea groups, according to NATO, will create a de facto cordon against Russia through Eastern Europe. This coincides with Polish ambitions (the Intermarium project). And besides, Washington views the Ukrainian case as part of the confrontation with Russia in the Middle East, as essentially a united front. And not two different conflicts (Friedman report 2014:https://worldview.stratfor.com/article/ukraine-iraq-and-black-sea-strategy ).

Therefore, now, taking advantage of the situation, NATO is simply destroying our fleet with the hands of the Ukrainians. Well, at least he’s trying to do so. At a minimum, weaken him so much that he ceases to be a threat to the Alliance.

Was it predictable, such actions of the enemy? Certainly! Our enemy, I primarily mean the Anglo-Saxons, thinks very systematically. They understand that this war is a direct continuation of the Crimean War and a continuation of the Great Game. Is it in vain that the British, according to the same schemes, welcomed the Ichkerians at the end of the 20th century and the Circassians in the 30s of the 19th century?

Now it is obvious to the West that it will not have any victory in Ukraine. But nevertheless, they are trying to repeat the situation of 1856, when, according to the Paris Peace Treaty, Russia lost the Black Sea Fleet. Now, there will be no such agreement, this is clear to them. Therefore, they are simply trying to destroy our fleet.

btw, look at the brass with Surovikin in comment #18742. Is that the uniform of the Russian Air Force (Aerospace Forces) ?? I think they have similar colors to other militaries – whites for sailors, blues for airmen.. this highlights the mission is air defense (AD) and suppression, and drones, using lessons learned and tools adapted and acquired from the SMO.

The Africans on the ground have the sufficient numbers and weapons (Voentorg has been wide open for years via Mali and Algeria and Egypt). The summer-autumn offensive can be called “armoured”. The bet was made on Western models, but it did not materialize. Under current conditions, the “armour” was unable to break through the front line. We, of course, destroyed a lot of equipment, but one delivery of 190 MaxxPro covers all lost machines of this brand. Moreover, lately armour has been used little in attacks, which means it is protected.

The new phase of the Ukrainian counteroffensive will be airborne. It was the lack of adequate air support that was considered the reason for the failures. And now the enemy is doing everything to reduce our ability to counter aviation. To achieve this, strikes are methodically carried out against air defense systems in Crimea. The supply of cluster ATACMS poses a huge threat to our airfields (yes, we have problems with aircraft hangars).

If the 1,000 km front collapses, and they are rolled up to the Dnieper, and northern parts too, how much sabotage can they get in so far from Russia in a huge land?? As more and more Russian drones enter the theater, many will catch staging areas close to Russia and attrit them even more. And air defense is evolving too, catching up to new dronification tech. There is no impetus greater than saving your civilians’ lives to speed up R&D. So the wherewithal of NATO drone terror will be fought tooth and nail and reduced over time; there is no other way out but “total victory” as per Shoigu.

This is why I fought the currently unwarranted pessimism of the author. It is a traditional Russian hobby, to expect the worst. And this is usually smart, to help get ready. But let’s first watch the evolving tango in the Black Sea. It is really heating up. It’s not clear atm if Ukies can sustain the kamikaze storm and become effective or will only enter the same meatgrinder on air and sea they’ve achieved on land. If I was a betting man I would bet on the latter

Last night Russian Deputy Def Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov arrived in Benghazi, Libya, after touring Mali and Burkina. Smoothie and I stand in different sets of memory and see the brass from different vectors…and we both see more or less then same shameful thing. In the years I did contract work for the Army I often witnessed contests of character and leadership among the commissioned ranks colonel and down. I also saw officers at the “O Club” sniffing some sort of powder in the latrine. The quality was in free-fall. That’s as to character…and of course the non-comm fellas would tell tales. The projects were framed legalistically but in practical sense corrupt. One of my superiors met a strange death by violence, deemed accidental… Which view I found highly improbable. There was money on the table, as Stumpy might say… not Queensbury rules. I was afraid.

Smoothie’s opinions tend to more professional matters… (and I agree there, but he’s the professional qualified to judge). One goes with the other.

One response to the Ukies’ full-throated wave of terrorism has been to unleash an astounding bombing campaign. In addition to daily missiles, and 20-30 massive guided FAB250 & FAB500 bombs, which level entire staging grounds and buildings, has been the relentless waves of Kamikaze drones:

So men are driven underground or under cover, but even there heavier munitions find you or spotters and hunters. It is so deadly that reportedly 3,500 Ukies surrendered in last few weeks.

And no NATO army after the Ukies has the fanaticism, the fighting spirit, the fatalism, the hatred required to keep fighting while losing thousands daily. So they will retreat to cities where they think they can hold out. How long can they last without electricity, water, food being trucked in daily, sanitation, internet, heat, and lack of daily activity?? Azov lasted a few weeks in Mariupol. Europeans wouldn’t as long. They will eat each other. The French? Niger showed the way — deprive them of fresh baguettes and civilized croissants.

Speaking in a slanted way… Bears and lions can run fast! We used to see them occasionally, when we lived back in th’woods…If I went a hiking out, I carried a gun, mostly just ’cause, but a very big and razor sharp knife, I have been told, is better in the example of lion.
