      Spiritual Healing – June 2025

      In the previous forum thread I offered meditation as a means of healing yourself. Meditation is a millennia-old method for getting rest, but also just as much for getting energy. Rest to recover and energy to recover. Rest and energy for the body, but also for the mind.

      Spiritual Healing – september 2024

      I would like to use this forum thread to introduce readers to energy work. Perhaps you have never heard of it. Perhaps you are already advanced in it. It is and always will be a journey of discovery. I want to offer exercises and share my insights with you. The invitation is to join in and share.

      Critical

      There are people who are familiar with energy work and know it works. There are also people who are critical and rightly ask questions. Then there are those who do not believe in it and shrug their shoulders. Finally, there are those who argue that it is nonsense and heavily condemn it. It is up to you to act on it or not. If anyone can prove a truth it is you.

      All my life I have been using the energy that flows through all of life. And at the same time I am also critical myself, because I value truth and therefore honesty. Does it really work? This is a question I have often asked myself and others who have experienced my energy. If hundreds of people say they have been helped, who am I to doubt myself?

      Science

      But there is so much more evidence. Scientific evidence no less. Thousands of years old methods of working with energy. Acupuncture is a true gift to humanity. Restoring energy pathways in the body so that self-healing is activated and supported. Millions of practitioners and billions of people are helped by it.

      Critics often argue that certain methods do not work and that it is “just” a placebo effect. The extraordinary thing is that this very placebo effect is incredibly effective and thus the best proof that the mind can influence the body. Negatively by making the body sick. Positively by making the body better. Thought power is applied daily and is thus factually proven.

      Trust

      A mother places her hand on her child’s forehead, a natural response that has an effect. The mother’s love literally flows from her mind through her hand to the child who receives that love energy and can heal with it. If you want something very badly, you can move mountains. If you spend a whole week complaining that you don’t feel well, eventually you actually get sick.

      Someone who is looking forward to an exam and breaks a leg has created a reason. It’s not always so black and white, but make no mistake about your thought power which to a large extent also works in the subconscious. When you become aware of your energy, you start to see more and more what it does and how it works out. You learn to trust it. You learn to deal with it better and better.

      A first simple exercise

      At a quiet moment when you are alone, sit on a chair. Place both your feet on the ground so that they make good contact with the Earth. Close your eyes for a moment and breathe calmly and deeply seven times in through your nose and out through your mouth. Relax your body by rocking your upper body back and forth for a moment and raising your shoulders a few times. Take another deep breath in and then let out a deep sigh.

      Now put your hands together and hold them about a hand length in front of you at the level of your navel. Look at your hands, feel them and be aware of the moment. Now gently move your hands apart until there could be a basketball between them. Hold your hands in that position for a moment and consider whether you felt certain energy as your hands moved apart.

      Now start moving your hands toward each other again, first until there could be a soccer between them, then a baseball, up to a ping-pong ball, not all the way together again. While moving toward each other again you feel the energy between your hands. You can move your hands away from each other and toward each other to discover at what distances you feel the energy change.

      Energy everyone feels in their own way. One person feels heat or cold, another feels tingling or wind. Discover how your body works. Make sure you stay relaxed by continuing to breathe well and, if necessary, shake yourself loose for a moment. Realize that the exercise is more important than any result. You can do nothing wrong, only experience and develop yourself in energy work.

      Have fun

      Spiritual Development is a lifelong journey. A journey to your Self. A journey to the Source. Everything is energy and therefore energy work is important. Man is a powerful creating being and his challenge is to know himself. Our body is a great antenna and we can tune into the energy source that gave us life. Think of this as part of the journey.

      This forum thread does not pretend to be all-encompassing nor to proclaim truth. Take out what is true for yourself. Also, above all, have fun exploring, practicing, learning. Share your experience, here or with like-minded people. Each person has his or her own path in life and at the same time we walk together on the same path. Have fun!

      Nice topic Nico.

      My interest has always centered around the healing therapies although nowadays I have to stay with the basics of naturopathics. But I did a few of the Donna Eden classes. A lot of fun, and if one knows a little about energy meridians, her work falls nicely into there.

      This is such a crossover of the eastern philosophies.  Those fellows knew about this stuff before we even opened our eyes.

      Energetic Protection

      When we educate our children, we teach them mental resilience. This is not in a curriculum and the parents and guardians are not very conscious about it, but mostly in an unconscious way they convey it through life experiences. Children have to learn to deal with not getting their way, with setbacks, with pressure and even verbal abuse. Children argue among themselves and there is peer pressure, not to mention bullying. It is not easy for a child to still be himself. Educators would do well to teach the child that there is a balance needed between staying yourself and adapting to your environment.

      But this writing is not about mental resilience; it is about energetic protection. Because what we face mentally is only a fraction of what we face energetically. Others who spite us may say mean things, but they are also sending negative energy along with them. And make no mistake, that energy always has an effect. When you can do good things with energy, you can also do bad things with it. Because people are unconscious they don’t understand the karmic consequences, but sender and receiver are dealing with the energy. That is why it is so important for people to be able to step out of their emotions more quickly.

      Swishy

      There will be people who find this swishy and don’t believe in it, but the evidence is there for all to see. Have you never walked into a room with people where you immediately got a strange feeling about you? Like they were talking about you or there was a strange tension present. Have you never been called when suddenly you already knew who you were going to get on the line? Or that you called someone and then the person said they had thought of you. Have you never been in a place where you literally got tired or even sick for no reason? Or where you were inexplicably energized and inspired. Every person experiences these things, experiencing the energetic exchange between people, with objects and in locations.

      It is important to believe this, to know inwardly and recognize the truth. Mental resilience is important, but it is quite subject to energetic influences. Therefore energetic resilience is important, we may learn to protect ourselves energetically. There is nothing woolly about that, it is simply how the world functions and where we can play a conscious role in the evolution of consciousness. It is our nature, our potentiality. Man can consciously “play” with the energy. Now it is still mostly unconscious and also largely from our emotions. We are angry with someone and wish them something bad. That has a completely different effect than when we consciously send someone positive energy.

      Science

      Japanese scientist Dr. Masaru Emoto studied the effect of positive and negative thoughts and emotions on water. He determined than positivity resulted in beautiful crystal structures and negativity resulted in ugly ones. To many, this sounds very logical, but science struggles with it because it can hardly be proven. Science thinks mostly in terms of matter, while energy cannot actually be proven that way. Dutch researcher Wim Hof is known as The Ice Man, because he controls his body to the point that he can withstand extreme cold for long periods of time. His mind then controls his body, so he consciously controls his physical body functions through energy. It is pure willpower.

      Science does not actually exist; it is a man-made set of assumptions. Especially Western science tries to put everything into physical boxes. If you can’t see it and can’t grasp it, then it doesn’t exist. I am exaggerating, of course, but when you organize science in such a way that all work has to meet fixed criteria then you know that more things fall off than fit within it. Not to mention the interests at stake, because science is largely in the service of the incumbent. It took a long time to make cars electric and it will take a long time before Free Energy will be released.

      Energetic Protection

      Now to what I want to talk about, our energetic resilience. Many cultures first sought that in physical elements. In movies, garlic is hung up to keep vampires out. Crosses were hung on doors and heads were hung on skewers. Food was sacrificed, as well as animals and virgins and children. All for a good cause. Now that we are a little more civilized we use other methods. In the New Age we are doing Mindfulness and burning incense. We place ourselves in a bubble of light or a cocoon where negativity cannot enter. We do Reiki and we do Tantra. We learn a method, but not necessarily to really feel. It remains superficial.

      Music is an energy, a physical vibration, that can literally touch our bodies. That’s why music is so powerful, because that energy connects our body to the all, the whole universe, so to speak. Sounds have a direct effect on all our cells, and we can be aware of that. Try playing with that, by letting the music go through your body. By feeling how that music goes through your body. By listening to your body as the sounds come in and find a way to where maybe healing is needed. You don’t need a MedBed for that. Music is the intermediary between the physical and the energy. The invitation is to experiment with that.

      Training the body to feel energy

      People are born with the ability to feel energy. For example, they can sense if energy pathways in a body are disrupted or if there are subcutaneous inflammations. They can then usually feel that disruption in the energy by passing their hands over that specific place in the body. How they perceive the disruption depends on their own energy system, awareness and way of interpreting it.

      I know that there are many people who do not believe in this at all and dismiss this whole energy story as nonsense or even a scam. However, I also know that there are more people who do believe this and sometimes work with the energy on a daily basis. Feeling balance I cannot prove, but it does exist. Feeling energy is very similar and unconsciously we all use it from birth – whether you want to or not.

      We don’t really believe that balance exists until we have physically experienced it ourselves. Our own experience makes it almost impossible to avoid a truth. The more often you have lived an experience, the more powerfully that truth emerges in you. Mentally, you can reject truths, and you can sustain that for a time, but usually the body is stronger than the mind. The body is also much more intelligent than the mind.

      So I can tell whole stories about energy and energy work, but it is much more powerful when I offer exercises that enable one’s own experiences. To also make those own experiences conscious and thus at the same time make intuition stronger. It is important to realize that we do not have to understand this in order to accept it as truth. Feeling balance does not need to be understood, but it works when we cycle.

      So also let go of the idea that what you experience must fit into a particular worldview. Religions and science find it difficult to give energy and energy work a place. It brings the mystical down to people and the fear is that it makes people believe in themselves instead of a god. Science cannot explain it and therefore it cannot exist. But what you experience yourself cannot be undone.

      Exercise with a pet

      If you have a dog or cat as a pet yourself, you can do a simple exercise. Otherwise, you may be able to turn to family, neighbors or friends to do the exercise. All that is important is that the pet can lie quietly and that you have a friendly relationship with the pet. Take your time with the exercise and don’t force anything. Also understand that a pet is a unique being with its own soul – have respect for each animal.

      The exercise itself is simple. Put your hand on the animal and make sure that you yourself and the animal are just nice and relaxed. It doesn’t matter where you put your hand, but keep your hand still. In the beginning you can pet or cuddle for a while, but for the exercise it is important that you keep your hand still – without being tense. So sit comfortably for it. You can decide whether you want to keep your eyes open or prefer to close them. Remain calm and breathing.

      After a few breaths visualize energy from your body flowing to the pet. For example, you can call this love, loving energy that you give to the pet through your hand. It is important that you pay attention to how the pet responds to that energy flow. Also that you pay attention when you stop the energy flow again, how the pet responds to that again. So, does the pet notice your energy and the energy flow generated by you – your love.

      For example, the pet may make noise when it notices your energy, lie down or relax completely. By the way, you could also practice this with horses or cows. As long as the animal can be calm to enter and live the experience together. Try it a few times, but don’t insist if the animal doesn’t want to or is done with it at some point. You can always repeat the exercise later and find depth in it.

      Don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t work right away or if you don’t feel much yet. Some people can naturally feel the energy and others just need a lot of practice for it. Everyone can learn it and become aware of it. Each also in their own way – everyone experiences it differently because we are unique beings. Don’t necessarily try to understand it, but rather enjoy the experience – feeling energy.

      Discovering Your Body’s Intelligence

      Every day, we are faced with choices. Small choices, such as whether to drink coffee or tea. Slightly bigger choices, such as which vacuum cleaner to buy. Important choices, such as whether to move to another house or enter into a relationship.

      How do we make decisions? Some people don’t think twice and choose spontaneously. Others hesitate for a long time and can’t make up their minds. How often do we choose what is best for us? How often do we later realize that our choice was not the most sensible one?

      Thinking and thinking again

      We think too much. We make lists. Pros and cons. Weighing up. Best tested. The more important and far-reaching the choice, the greater the chance that we will make the wrong choice. What can you do to make a more balanced choice, with less chance of regret?

      Feel

      Our body knows what is good for us. We cross an intersection without thinking and after that intersection we wonder if we had a green light. This means that the body has taken over the task of thinking. The mind was busy with something else and the body took us across that intersection. We thoughtlessly put products in our supermarket basket. Products we need.

      The exercise

      When you are faced with a slightly bigger or more important decision, such as moving to a new home, write your current address on one piece of paper and the address of the potential new home on another piece of paper. Place both pieces of paper on the floor, two meters apart. Be quiet for a moment and walk back and forth between the two pieces of paper a few times. Try to feel what your body is telling you. Which paper appeals to you the most?

      Trust

      Your body will let you know which choice it feels most comfortable with. How your body indicates this is different for each person. You may get a pleasant feeling or a tingling sensation. Your body may become cold or warm. The point is to discover how your body works and “talks” to you. To learn to trust your body. Discover how your body’s choices work out.

      Thinking and feeling

      When your thoughts and feelings both make the same choice, then you are on the right track. Try to let your body speak more by feeling what it is telling you. This happens unconsciously so often, but now make it more conscious. Integrate thinking and feeling. Practice and learn. When in doubt, let your feelings be the deciding factor. See what that brings. Refine the process.
