      We’re opening a new thread early as we are still working through what is new software for Periol.  We will get there and this software has its quirks.

      A little Leonard Cohen! Smell the roses – Gads, it is busy out there with very little of substance. It is rather that every theater is slowly heating up.

      And while we wait on Iran (it may all just be hot air and we hope for that), let Sony Thang spell out ugly reality.

      Empire is not confused.

      It is not improvising.

      It is running simulations.

      Testing narratives.

      Measuring how much shock you can absorb before you break.

      Iran is not just a target.

      It is a variable.

      So is your mortgage.

      Your savings.

      Your neighbor’s anger.

      From their perspective, it is all data.

      The only thing that is truly disposable is you.

        There may be an error…”720 miles” puts the pirate fleet not in the Persian Gulf, but in the Arabian Sea…https://www.google.com/maps/@20.3514752,61.7739272,6z?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDEyNS4wIKXMDSoKLDEwMDc5MjA2N0gBUAM%3D

        If narration is accepted that Bibi doanwanna war right now, and fatboy insists, then maybe his coy plan (or simple whim) is to get Iran to eliminate the zionazi parasite that’s blackmailing him… neh, maybe…  If he gets a buncha corn fed lads kilt in the process, would that bother him?

        Ahem wonderin’ if the gang’s been buying put options on the oil…they always try to make more loot…

        An we may ask if the helpful Pakis have sent a few “special munitions”…

        New Iranian rocket, target zone includes CONUS… far out!

        We’ll see who keeps their promises…

        Ahem wishin’ we had a line direct to Plato’s Hyperuranion Coffee House… But our earthly realms will know soon enough…

        The mention of the Persian-Greek war in the narration seems apt, but in addition one ought to remember Salamis. (“The Battle of Salamis: The Naval Encounter that Saved Greece — and Western Civilization” Strauss)  The details of the defeat are instructive…intrigue, treasons, deception… the Persian (superior) navy was induced to row all night in futile search for the weaker Greek fleet, while the Greeks ate and slept well ashore… and knowing the nature of the local seas and weather, while the Persians did not…and knowing how to swim ashore to helping friends, while the Persians did not swim, and the few that made it to shore were slaughtered… The Persian fleet was essential to the logistic support of the Persian Army… and in the hard afternoon breeze that navy was destroyed as the Great King watched from his portable throne, perched on the overlooking hill… It’s not a perfect repeat, true, but the similarities are sobering… We ought to keep the Persian subs in mind too… and the alliances which have vital interests in the outcome. It’s for the aggressor a stupid action, everything to lose and little to gain… Naturally Fatboy’s never even heard of the battle…

        Let’s assume Iran prevails and the US et al “sue for peace”….well, what if they only ask for armistice? More importantly, what would be resolved by either suit? And why would Iran believe anything the US et al say or promise? If, on the other hand, the US et al were to suffer a really massive defeat and be seen to have suffered it, would the domestic disorder inside the US et al become so profound as to collapse the “homeland” into a toothless chaos?  The looming specter that would seem liable to become real in the example of a really massive defeat is of course the atomic explosive gadgets… Could the US abide retreat in defeat without using nuclear “weapons”? Could Trump abide a public humiliation on such a scale? Another looming shadow is the possibility of other agents’ involvement…and parallel violence outside the arena…if we can say the vast region is an “arena”.

      Last week the Iranian government disclosed that 2,427 civilians and members of the security services and 690 insurgents were killed in the “riots” earlier this month, which recontextualizes what actually occurred – and explains the push to “manifest” a new Iranian government.⬇️

      Allow me to explain some insurgency theory.  A “conventional” insurgency, as we saw in Vietnam, basically follows five phases per Galula:

      1. Creation of the insurgent party

      2. Cooption of all other opposition groups

      3. Guerilla war

      4. Conventional war

      5. Final overthrow of the government

      This is the standard model of revolution by insurgency as used by the East Asian communist movements – China, Vietnam, et cetera.  Critically, it involves the parallel creation of a communist state at the same time as the extant state is destroyed – the insurgent leaders will arrive at the abandoned government palace, sit down at the former El Presidete’s desk, and can immediately set about governing the country in an orderly way through the apparatus of the Party that is now spread root and stem through society at large.

      There is, however, an alternative method if you just want to seize power and don’t care so much about governing anything.  Galula refers to it as the “bourgeois-nationalist shortcut” method, and it’s quite simple – the insurgent party replaces the years of boring organization and coalition-building in Phases 1 and 2 with a few weeks of MASS TERRORISM.

      If the target state falters and fails to crush the insurrectionists during this critical stage, the insurgents will be able to rapidly organize a guerilla army using their newfound notoriety and political power and proceed to go about fighting the revolutionary war and eventually overthrowing the government.  There won’t be a state apparatus left afterwards to let the revolutionaries govern anything, but generally the kind of people who use these methods don’t really care about little things like that.

      There is a critical drawback to this model, however – if the state doesn’t buckle and cracks down effectively during the key terrorism phase, the insurgency is doomed.  Unlike the communist model, in this phase the insurgency isn’t a broad-based social movement that can withstand official sanctions – it’s a plot involving a few hundred heavily-armed maniacs who can simply be killed by the police.

      So how does this tie into Iran?  Well, earlier this month organic protests about economic issues were hijacked by heavily-armed insurgents who proclaimed their general opposition to the government, fought running gun battles with police, caused a shocking amount of property damage, and attempted to organize public support for their movement via an intense social media push – all of this with some success!   Then the Iranian government cracked down hard and the insurrection collapsed.

      All of this ties exactly into the model of a bourgeois-nationalist “terrorist insurgency” which was defeated during its period of maximum vulnerability – the terrorism phase itself – by a robust and agile state opponent.  It also explains the sudden and massive push in the West to recognize the insurgency as a rival Iranian government almost immediately – all of this was very clearly orchestrated by Western interests (read: Mossad), and this insurrection had the clear aim of either overthrowing the Iranian government outright or starting a civil war in Iran.  The people pushing to change the Iranian flag emoji on this website (which remains as the pre-1979 flag to this day) absolutely knew what their intended end-state was.

      The key thing to realize is that the bourgeois-nationalist insurgency method does not require a large network and mass popular support.  It requires a few hundred – or even a few dozen – hard men with guns, and a capable PR team capable of getting people behind the insurgents so as to build a mass movement and support for guerilla war overnight.  This is what Mossad et al. was trying to do in Iran earlier this month, and that was in all likelihood the actual extent of their remaining attack network in the country after much of it was dismantled during and after the Twelve Days’ War.

      ▪️The EU has announced a “complete ban on Russian gas imports by 2027,” which Western media claims is “another step toward ending its energy reliance on Russia” – however, this step means Europe is now immeasurably more reliant on the US and its gas exports which are and always will be more costly both in terms of economics and independence;

      ▪️Even as the EU poses as at odds with the US, citing a widening “split,” it is creating actual material realities subjugating itself further under US control;

      ▪️This further demonstrates that the “US-EU split” is merely theater meant to help sell the US-proposed “division of labor” in which Europe is fed into the US’ proxy war with Russia as Ukraine collapses while the US focuses more resources on its pursuit of primacy elsewhere – particularly China;

      ▪️The “issue” of Greenland is another aspect of this theater – if the EU really feared and opposed the US annexing the island territory it would be building not surrendering leverage to the US – and yet it eagerly does so as per the US’ own dictates to target and reduce Russian energy sales;

        This is a very good and detailed article, thanks for posting.

        The section on silver sheds light on the sudden price spike.  It’s not Trump, it’s China! The section on bismuth illuminates why prices on computer components are sky high and keep going up.  It’s not AI, it’s China!

        None of this is showing up in the papers.  China is hardcore winning the trade war and the propaganda machine does not want to acknowledge how badly things are actually going.

      I’m writing this from Minnesota.

      These are just a few things that may not be making the national or international news.

          a beloved local donut shop Glam Doll Donuts across the street from where Alex Pretti died turned into a warming house and medic center for protestors building and maintaining the memorial site.

          a 70yo independent bookstore owner DreamHaven Books down the street expressed his pain on camera, walked through a tear gas cloud, and his website crashed less than 24 hours later from too much business and donations.

          the day after tear gas bombs destroyed a N-Mpls neighborhood sending a 6mo old baby to the hospital, at daybreak, a small church community cleaned up the mess of pepper balls, tear gas containers and trash so the neighbors didn’t have to wake up to the memories.

          a local independent journalist Mercado Media pounding the streets everyday reporting things from the ground had a testicle removed and showed up two days later to walk with 75,000+ community members to walk the streets in -20 degree weather.

          a local sex-positive adult-store The Smitten Kitten has completely transformed into a donation and distribution center.

          a local pizza place Wrecktangle Pizza  raised over $83K in less than a few days to support families that are sheltering in place.

          tow-truck companies are donating their services to clean up the accidents and abandoned vehicles left by ICE and the city is waiving impound fees.

          local multi-faith spiritual leaders are spearheading sit-ins at corporate headquarters such as Target and USBank to have deeper conversations with CEOs and boards of directors about community relief.

          social workers are taking in children who came home from school with both their parents “disappeared.”

          animal shelters and pet-fostering agencies are rescuing pets left alone for days or weeks after their humans were detained.

          every restaurant, church, karate dojo, dance studio, school, barber shop, and other small business has created their own underground grassroots supportive network to protect their neighbors, get people to and from work, and raise funds to pay everyday bills.

          women who are moms and work full-time jobs are donning reflective vests in shifts to stand watch at bus stops, city parks, and grocery store parking lots ini sub-zero temps to bear witness before going home to tuck their babies in at night.

          the MN National Guard offered donuts, coffee, and hot cocoa to peaceful protesters the day after Alex Pretti died, reminding community that we are all in this together and they are here to keep the peace.

      These are just a few examples. Stories like this are happening in the hundreds here, every single day!

      Community is EVERYTHING!

      This Substack community and the MN-Strong resistance has saved my mental health these last weeks.

      Thank you for reading.

      Thank you for giving a shit.

      I love you.
