The Patriot launcher was loaded with PAC-3 MSE surface-to-air guided missiles, which are already being considered for integration into the Navy, including by adapting them to the cells of the Mk 41/70 launcher across the fleet.

The decision was made against the backdrop of observations in Ukraine and the Red Sea, which showed the need for a significantly greater number of air defense systems on ships.

Installing a traditional Patriot launcher on the LCS gives the Navy the ability to use proven land-based equipment, adapted for maritime tasks without the need for a complete ship overhaul.

There were never any meaningful “restrictions”. That is a myth. Everything the US/NATO ever sent was used at the operational limits of its range. They simply have limited range.

NATO, the EU are both containment mechanisms for the US to exploit. The story that the US somehow has a “friendship” to Europe does not stand up to scrutiny.
