        annually military receives a check to cover the increase in their housing … this year  the check was for $1700, approved annually by Congress … Trump DIDN’T GIVE them anything that they were not going to get anyway.

        I do not see him as an outlier. Much more polished, and consistent within narrow windows, and stickler to the old rules, now trashed beyond repair. His fundamental bitterness and argument is with the current incompetent generation deep-sixing his efforts and work of a near century.

        He is old-school Deep State personified. An inveterate racist, at least of true semites, afghans, and east asians.. I’ve caught him making exceptions to the Chinese right to their traditional territorial waters, based on aggression imposed by Anglo-Americans in last two centuries.       Fascinating the argument about whether ships can legally be seized.  WS is right, of course.  It is outright piracy, and flags or registration have nothing to do with it.  But what stands out for me is that Sal and the cronies there are so schooled in the empirical thought that it becomes impossible for them to look at the issue with any level of detachment.   They are so schooled in Might Makes Right that they cannot see anything else.  And that, my friends, is empire.  It is not that they are paid, or perhaps they are, or that they are in some way encouraged to hold their views.  It is just what it is.

      People always say it is not the US citizenry or the people, but it is the government.  Years ago, I figured out that it is more than the government.  It is an unwillingness, almost an inability, to think outside the lines.  It is like that experiment with little kittens. Put them in a cage where the lines of the cage run only horizontally; eventually, they cannot see anything else, lose perspective completely, and cannot see anything vertical.  So, at least one dimension becomes missing.

      Referring to Mr P’s Mom .. I said the same thing to my husband back in 1993, going to the US to live.  It was clear to me at that time.   It is funny with the Epstein files, and I only pick up some commentary here and there … The files with Trump on pics were in the first bunch that was made available, and then a bunch just disappeared overnight – the ones with his fat mug and his hanging onto young girls .. Boom!  Gone overnight.  That dimension just disappeared – nothing to see here.  I saw some commentary today that the release was eventually agreed to, only to waste time, keep people hopeful, and tease and titillate.

      I see they trotted Tulsi Gabbard out again to accuse Reuters of false reporting to support the EU and to get the US into war with Russia.  Is there anyone, anywhere, these days, who actually takes her seriously?  The US is itching for a war against anyone.  Oily Pete?  Oh man, I get these nasty pics in my head as to what happens to him physiologically if he thinks there is another war or some more people to kill, and the pic in my head is disturbing.  Something like the Marquis de Sade.

      I took this day off mainly, and it was good.  This afternoon we had soft tropical winter rain – a thing of utter joy!

      I don’t know if you all noticed that dramatic picture from the shooting at Bondi Beach.  The guy with his face full of blood.  This is what he is.

        Of the “Imperial Mind-set” and inability, well said! I note that if Sal was to see and speak clearly he’ never be tenured – and it’s obvious that’s his ambition. Worse yet, he’d probably be fired. Similarly, Hudson and Wolff never heard “Marxist” as students, and I imagine they never spoke “Marx” until they would not suffer for it. I consider that academia exists in large part to maintain and control the vision of people who would otherwise be “rogue intellectuals” and thus endanger the agenda of the ruling class.       In my opinion, this meeting is either a distraction and they’ve already made their decision to strike Iran, which means it could happen before the meeting even takes place, in an effort to ‘surprise’ attack. Considering the sudden fabricated panic about Iran’s missile program in Israeli media, this is a possibility (they’ve been building pretext).

      Second possibility: The meeting is not a distraction, and Trump & Netanyahu actually need to discuss some things. In that case I don’t consider an attack likely until February or March 2026 at the earliest. And no, Iran won’t conduct a preemptive attack no matter what. They’ll buy as much time as possible.

      This is only regarding Iran. Lebanon is a total wildcard, Israel pretty much doesn’t need to make any ‘preparations’ and war could break out there whenever they choose, which will most likely be in the form of gradual escalation (assassinations, increasing strikes in Beirut) until Hezbollah will eventually be forced to respond.

      Regarding Gaza, I don’t expect large-scale fighting to resume anytime soon. Pretty much everyone wants to see the war end, including the US, because continuing the war reflects badly on the Trump administration and the Israel dilemma has split American conservatives. Besides, there’s no more objectives for the IDF to achieve. If fighting does resume, it’s purely for political purposes (i.e. Netanyahu finds himself in hot water).

      In W2 the US merchant ships, the Liberty Class, were equipped with gun, cannons. Generally a 3″ on the bow, and a 5″ on the stern. The reason for the difference being that the weapons were defensive….warships chasing the slow merchant ship faced the 5″. While naturally the merchant sailors generally did get trained on using the guns, the ships carried proper soldiers as gun crews. Marines.
