ParticipantThis seems about right to me, electric generation thermal plants exhaust about 1/2 of the total fuel energy, and a lot of the other 1/2 is lost in transmission systems…even atomic power uses lots of fuel too, in the mining, processing, and maintenance necessary to build and run them.
” In a combustion engine, the driver converts gasoline (high entropy) into forward motion with approximately 40% efficiency. Electricity (low entropy) drives a motor with approximately 90% efficiency in an electric vehicle. However, electricity does not exist in nature but instead must be generated. Burning natural gas (high entropy) to generate electricity (low entropy) is only 40-50% efficient. The EV is not inherently more efficient; instead, the inefficient “upgrade” from thermal to electric energy occurs off-stage and is conveniently omitted by most analysts.”
Modern ICE (internal combustion engine) is probably better, and lots more fun! It even runs in cold weather!

ParticipantAbstract>
The geomagnetic field has undergone hundreds of polarity reversals over Earth’s history, at a variable
pace. In numerical models of Earth’s core dynamics, reversals occur with increasing frequency when
the convective forcing is increased past a critical level. This transition has previously been related
to the influence of inertia in the force balance. Because this force is subdominant in Earth’s core,
concerns have been raised regarding the geophysical applicability of this paradigm. Reproducing the
reversal rate of the past million years also requires forcing conditions that do not guarantee that the rest
of the geomagnetic variation spectrum is reproduced. These issues motivate the search for alternative
reversal mechanisms. Using a suite of numerical models where buoyancy is provided at the bottom
of the core by inner-core freezing, we show that the magnetic dipole amplitude is controlled by the
relative strength of subsurface upwellings and horizontal circulation at the core surface. A relative
weakening of upwellings brings the system from a stable to a reversing dipole state. This mechanism is
purely kinematic because it operates irrespectively of the interior force balance. It is therefore expected
to apply at the physical conditions of Earth’s core. Subsurface upwellings may be impeded by stable
stratification in the outermost core. We show that with weak stratification levels corresponding to a
nearly adiabatic core surface heat flow, a single model reproduces the observed geomagnetic variations
ranging from decades to millions of years. In contrast with the existing paradigm, reversals caused by
this stable top core mechanism become more frequent when the level of stratification increases i.e.
when the core heat flow decreases. This suggests that the link between mantle dynamics and magnetic
reversal frequency needs to be reexamined.full paper> Core-surface kinematic control of polarity reversals in advanced geodynamo simulations
When it happens it’ll be quite thrilling…and possibly really really bad for people that need electricity and depend on the industrial supports, pumped water, for example. Perhaps we’ll find out.

If it’s a real humdinger it may have effect on the course of our sordid history, and immediately upon the war…imagine, for example, zone Palestine if all electrical machinery was fried…no airplanes, no choppers, no tanks, the nazi army totally uncoordinated with no radio… one might assume then that the fight would be reduced to simple rifles and knives… which might not go well for the nazis…
If it’s a real humdinger… play with the speculations…on the global scale. It would take years to get stuff going agin… My opinion is that God loves jokes…and ‘sprizes!

Participant– “It would take years to get stuff going agin”
Maybe that would be thousands of years. I was revisiting the Dark Horse interview with Ben Davidson of a year ago (and a shorter version with Kim Iversen last month – specifically on the Earth flip).
And thinking from the Dark Horse talk about the (stolen and leaked) classified findings from the Arctic, which showed endless layers of tropical-arctic environments back though the countless millennia – all showing how the planetary crust had flipped every few thousand years. And of course people like Randall Carlson and Graham Hancock talking about all the lost civilizations of the past, through the catastrophes that some of them may even have known were coming.
And I revisited Catherine Austin Fitts with Tucker a short while ago, where she talks about how in around 1998, the western powers that be finally just “gave up” on this system of government and started working to build an alternative, underground world – the “breakaway civilization” she calls it.
And 1998 was shortly after the 1994 release of those stolen classified findings from beneath the ice (now out of print, and maybe an archived version can be found somewhere ??).
And the 9/11 Patriot Act to formalize the whole continuity-of-gov, no-Constitution framework
And then all the trillions that went off-budget, to build the underground cities and transportation networks. And, as Fitts cites, Obama mentioning the Three-Body Problem as if to hint that this was the scale of problems he faced.
~~
So, one could see a lot of people – many cities’ worth of people – planning to survive the solar-magnetic-polar thing. And we don’t have an invitation, of course.
It would explain a lot about why they just don’t care anymore to build a decent world on the surface.

ParticipantFarming and gardening variations…
ABSTRACT: This study shows that variation in the strength of Earth’s geomagnetic field (GMF)
is a robust determinant of crop yields and agricultural income. Increases in the intensity
of the GMF result in significantly higher yields of wheat, maize, and rice. These effects
are large enough to influence aggregate economic outcomes, as a greater geomagnetic
strength leads to increases in per capita measures of value added in agriculture and GDP.
These results suggest that magneto-tropism, or plant growth induced by exposure to
magnetic fields, is a cause of fluctuations in the global agricultural sector.see entire paper, downolad pdf pdf at> https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=5346864

KeymasterYes, motor cycle helmets are a placebo in many regards. Like asking a fella whether he wants to be in the nuked red zone, instantly atomized, or just off the red zone and die a lingering death of radiation sickness. I prefer the former. Especially after the confirmation bias of seeing a biker in the ER having fallen at high speed on the highway, and skidding with much of his legs skin and lower back degloved like a molting snake. Life, such as it is, after that!
Regarding the DOE, and many truths currently being uncorked by Goldfinger & Gang: besides the ever useful titillation and narrative switcheroo, distracting from holocausts and impeding Great Wars, there is the fact it is no longer necessary to lie. It takes an awful lot of energy, time, and dwindling resource basis to fight Truth.
And the harm’s largely done — the Club of Rome deceits and agendas were successfully baked into dominant western (and global) scientific community and orthodoxy. Thus at least a biblical generation (~40 years) can safely be considered committed to civilizational suicide, keeping themselves deindustrialized, divested of cheap abundant hydrocarbons (and delaying essential exploration itself leading to more collapse). An instant auto-da-fé shall be executed on the raving impious empiricist that dares suggest we rotate around the Sun!
And above all, another delightful stratagem to create instant divide within the bothersome scientific community, keeping high caliber professionals outta the game of thrones and life & death. Deviously diabolically efficient. Even the Truth is weaponized to help collapse society by ensuring maintenance of the generational depopulationary goals of eugenicist nazi elite

ParticipantMy calculations say that the mass of the helmet and the sensory limits it imposes, together with a false sense of safety produces an increase in natural risk and also willing risk-taking…thus more regrettable events are causally related to wearing helmets. The nature of the injuries also changes. That said there is probably a slight increase in survival if a regrettable event occurs. These two mechanisms approximately cancel one-another. That said, a very light “bump cap” such as the “novelty helmets” favored by many or most mature and experienced riders are probably a good compromise. My left knee and wrists would have benefited from wearing helmets on those three places! Head not so much…in fact when a wasp gets into a helmet it can be very distracting!
The big risks are too much power and inexperience… man it’s a very steep learning curve! And the learning more or less requires crashes…. Fatigue can be a factor too. Once in the most conservative and cautious situation I hit a patch of wet gasoline on asphalt…like ice…slam, sparks, fire and explosion…at walking speed…left ankle still these many years is not quite proper… It got pinched…go figure! Summary Paper Nr 1
The complex flow of the liquid iron within the outer core of the Earth is responsible for the geomagnetic field generation, its sustainment and dynamical evolution. Here we consider a turbulent flow in the Earth’s core and the impact of wave interactions on the geomagnetic field evolution. The interactions between waves with distinct but close velocities of propagation (“beating” waves) lead to formation of an electromotive force in the electrically conducting liquid iron inside the core, which slowly varies in time due to the effect of beat. Such an electromotive force generates time-varying currents and this mechanism can lead to an Earth-like behavior of the large-scale magnetic field, exhibiting long periods of fairly stable field separated by short-lived reversals or strong excursions (periods of weakened field), which appear to be random. The studied model offers a physical picture of the geomagnetic reversals/excursions based on induction of time-varying currents by wave interactions and allows to pinpoint and understand the relation between the chaotic turbulent flow in the Earth’s core and occurrences of reversals/excursions.

Paper Nr 2 (Earthquakes and electrons…)
Abstract
As a continuity of our previous work with an emphasis mainly on temporal variations, this research aims to statistically investigate the
temporal-spatial characteristics on seismo-ionospheric influence associated with strong earthquakes. Firstly, the latest electron density
and ion density data measured by the CSES satellite for more than three years have been utilized to globally search ionospheric disturbances by limiting spatial scale 140–2,100 km (in-situ measurement time t = 20–300 s if the satellite velocity 7 km/s is considered) and
without limit on amplitude (A). At the same time, 3,577 strong earthquakes with a magnitude equal to or > 5.0 occurring during this
period and three-hourly averaged Kp index have also been collected. It has shown that ionospheric variations with large scale
(t > 200 s) and large amplitude (|A| > 100%) majorly reveal the major large-scale ionosphere structures, such as EIA, WN3/4, WSA,
MIT, and so on, as well as strengthened varieties globally induced by strong solar activities especially on daytime, although electron
density and ion density vary with different properties. Secondly, by large ionospheric perturbations eliminated, the sensitivity of nighttime plasma variations (here, |A| < 100% and t < 200 s) to different group strong earthquakes with respect to several aspects has been
tentatively testified. Kp index is kept < 3 during this period to avoid its global effect from solar activities. The results have demonstrated
that the seismic activities are more sensitive to ionospheric anomalies predominantly appearing 7 days before and with the spatial size <
120 s. Finally, nighttime plasma perturbations with various sizes and amplitudes have been further applied to a worldwide correlation in
space and time with total 3,577 strong earthquakes happening within 1,500 km and 15 day’s delay. The statistical results show that
seismo-electron influence subtracted by an averaged variation significantly occurs 5 days prior to events and shifts 500–700 km away
instead of right above the epicenters, which highly complies theoretically with the physical seismoionospheric model based on zonal electric field propagating along magnetic lines. While seismo-ion effect shows a specified temporal feature but without a confirmed spatial
distribution and further work on validation and reliability of ion data is needed.(PDF) Temporal-spatial characteristics of seismo-ionospheric influence observed by the CSES satellite

ParticipantEvidently when the climate warms it causes the atmosphere to change too. This seems pretty obvious. And organic chemical reactions go faster – doubling (within their range) for, iirc every 10 C increase…anyway…
learned paper ….boffins say> “Atmospheric CO2 Lags Temperature by 150 yr
between 1 and 1850 AD”https://scienceofclimatechange.org/wp-content/uploads/SCC-Vol5.3-Grabyan.pdf
fragment abstract> Results show that atmospheric CO₂ consistently lags temperature by approximately 150 yr from
1 to 1850 AD. After applying this lag correction (CO₂Lag), Pearson correlation coefficients (rPCC)
between CO₂Lag and temperature reached Very Strong values ranging from 0.85 to 0.99. TSI–
temperature correlations were generally Strong across the full 2000 yr interval, and Very Strong
from 1850 to present. A prominent alignment among CO₂Lag, TSI, and temperature occurs around
1460 AD.
These findings indicate that atmospheric CO₂ does not precede, nor appear to drive, global temperature trends. Rather, CO₂ consistently lags temperature, suggesting it functions as a response
variable rather than a primary forcing. In addition, TSI exhibits Strong to Very Strong temporal
alignment with temperature, supporting the hypothesis that solar variability plays a significant
role in long-term climate change.yup…memory was good… “Temperature Dependence of the rate of a reaction
