The second Fury has been set loose

Petey Hegseth just declared Operation Economic Fury.   This follows Operation Epic Fury.

There are three of these chthonic goddesses of vengeance in Greco-Roman mythology, called up from the underworld and in Greek mythology, called the Erinyes.  They were probably initially personified curses, but possibly they were originally conceived of as ghosts of the murdered. They lived in the underworld and ascended to earth to pursue the wicked.

Homer’s “Iliad” and “Odyssey” – Around 8th Century BCE

Homer, the epic poet whose works are foundational to the Western literary canon, mentions the Erinyes in both the “Iliad” and the “Odyssey.” In these texts, they are invoked as agents of justice, often called upon to witness oaths and punish liars.

Quote from the “Odyssey”:  “May the Erinyes, who punish men, destroy you both before you are tried and found wanting.”

Tisiphone, Alecto, and Megaera from ancient Greek Mythology were presented as nightmarish creatures. Aeschylus, for example, portrayed them as:

wingless in appearance, black, altogether disgusting; they snore with repulsive breaths, they drip from their eyes hateful drops; their attire is not fit to bring either before the statues of the gods or into the homes of men.

Does Greasy Petey know anything about Greek and Roman ancient mythology?   Or, which movie did he watch?

Iran is known as a civilizational epoch, as is Russia, as is China.  These youngsters do not understand that the Furies had a very specific job description and this job description pertains to the barbarians.

From the mythology we know that the Furies punished men for crimes against the natural order.

They went bloodthirsty with punitive action for crimes like homicide, unfilial conduct, offenses against the gods, and perjury. A victim seeking justice could call down the curse of the Furies upon the criminal.

The wrath of the Erinyes manifested itself in a number of ways. The most severe of these was the tormenting madness inflicted upon a patricide or matricide. Murderers might suffer illness or disease; and a nation harboring such a criminal, could suffer dearth, and with it hunger and disease. The wrath of the Erinyes could only be placated with the rite ritual purification and the completion of some task assigned for atonement.

There is no purification or atonement or even planned.

If one is mythologically inclined, this will bear wicked weight on these barbarians because they are not wise. Petey and Bessent have just recalled some of the most wicked goddesses of vengeance in myth. They have the specific job to destroy the wicked, those with no respect for civilization. The Furies? I think they are resistance 😀 Karma has a new address.

Well – as Dimitri Orlov loved to point out: What they are really doing, without being able to see it, is strengthen the power and integrity of those they presume to appose and destroy. In Hegelian terms, in their unconsciousness, they are running the negative polarity of the dialectic of… Read more »
