Attack on Iran – the Defining Turning Point of 21st Century History

[Note:  A thorough historical summary essay describing the last week of world change.    European writers often leave out China, and it is so in this essay as well.  China has a special envoy speaking to all the countries (even those that may not be countries as we understand it) to attempt to stop the carnage and steer it towards a diplomatic path.  In my view, this is a lost cause in terms of the US, no matter what China or Russia says (in public).  Of course Iran knows that negotiations with the US invariably get you killed.  Regional negotiations and agreement in the region should be the main focus on this track.

Chinese Foreign Minister:  -This is a war that should not have happened and the major countries should play a constructive role.  -All parties should return to the negotiating table as soon as possible.  -We urge an immediate cessation of military operations and the expansion of hostilities must be prevented.  -Plotting to cause revolution and regime change in Iran does not have popular support.  -The sovereignty and security of Iran and the Gulf countries must be respected.

China and Russia are not afraid of any external provocations and pressures

Peter Hanseler :

The Israeli-American attack has already failed. Iran will survive this—the Greater Israel project is now a distant prospect—and that is all that matters.

Peter Hanseler reports from Dubai, where he is stuck with his family but is not letting the commotion in the West unsettle him. He is patiently waiting for the next possible flight home.

Introduction

Israel and the US have started a war against Iran without any justification whatsoever. This should always be kept in mind when listening to statements by Western politicians defending US policy. The compulsive verbal acrobatics they employ to justify the unjustifiable expose the severity of their crimes. If the rules of the Nuremberg trials were applied, Trump, Netanyahu, and Co. would be hanging from the gallows—it’s that simple.

If you follow the Western media, which parrot the explanations and justifications uncritically like immature children on a continuous loop, you have to rub your eyes in disbelief: regime change in Iran, fear of nuclear weapons in Iran, fear of the ballistic power of the mullahs; preventive strike, because Iran would have attacked Israel, indeed Europe, if not the US itself, in the near future. The reasons given by Trump, Hegseth, and Rubio change daily. This is clear evidence that the US cannot achieve its official war aims and is therefore constantly trying to adapt to the unexpected reality that has arisen. The gentlemen mentioned above are doing this at such a pace that they are not even coordinating their absurd political and military fantasies with each other and are constantly contradicting themselves. This is not what self-confidence looks like.

The situation has reached the point where Trump’s team is meeting for joint prayer in the Oval Office.

Israeli soldiers, for their part, are indoctrinated in a way that makes prayer at the White House seem like religious fanaticism, according to Tucker Carlson.

https://t.me/AleksandrSemchenko/72420

Prayers and chatter in the West attempt to conceal the true goals of the Zionists. Iran, the oldest and largest civilization in West Asia, stands in the way of Israel’s creation of Greater Israel, a country stretching from the Euphrates to the Nile.

The pieces of the puzzle are all on the table. Let’s put them together.

It is impossible to report on all the events. From everything I have been able to gather, I present a selection and hope to paint a picture that comes close to reality. This is made more difficult by the deliberate dissemination of false information from all sides. I hope I have been able to separate the wheat from the chaff.

No Justification Possible

There is no justification for attacking Iran. As was the case last June, the Americans abused the negotiations with the Iranians and attacked Iran during a break in the talks. On Friday, February 27, Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi said he believed that all issues could be resolved amicably and comprehensively in an agreement between Iran and the US within a few months. On the following Monday, negotiations were set to continue, with both sides speaking of progress

It is impossible to negotiate with the Americans. This despicable behavior on the part of the US will lead to this war being fought to the bitter end. One of the most narrow-minded politicians in the West, Chancellor Merz, spoke the truth without intending to.

“Sometimes the truth comes out when a fool speaks”

“It’s a ‘dilemma,’ said Friedrich Merz (CDU): ‘International legal measures’ are simply ineffective against an Iranian regime that has been trying to build up its nuclear arsenal for decades and ‘brutally oppresses’ its population. That is why the Americans and Israelis are now launching a military attack.”

In other words: international law does not apply to Iran. Sometimes the truth comes out when you let a fool speak. So much for justifying the attack.

This was said by the head of government of the country that supplied Iraq with poison gas, which was banned under international law, during the Iran-Iraq War from 1980 to 1988, and which was used against Iran.

Europe without Energy

The Strait of Hormuz is closed; Iran—together with the Houthis—decides who will pass through.

Another genius of European politics, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the following on December 3:

“This is the dawn of a new era, the era of Europe’s full energy independence from Russia,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said after the EU reached a deal to end all EU imports of Russian gas by the end of 2027.”

Ursula von der Leyen, 3 December 2025

On March 4, President Putin made the following statement:

“But if they are going to close us off in a month or 2 anyway, then perhaps it is better for us to stop ourselves now.”

President Putin, 3 March 2026

China is severely affected by the war, as it imports a significant amount of natural gas (approx. 30%) from Qatar and oil from Iran (12.3%). Russia can fill this gap. You don’t need a university degree to realize that Europe will have an unseen energy problem within weeks. Russia has the upper hand and Europe no longer has any cards. Germany, which has repeatedly declared that Russia will always be its enemy, will be unable to make a charm offensive in the Kremlin.

One of the Americans’ First Targets: a Primary School for Girls

One of the first targets of Sunday’s attack was a primary school for girls. The result: 165 dead children between the ages of 7 and 12. Al Jazeera reported that the attack on the Iranian girls’ school was probably “deliberate.”

The evidence pointing to US responsibility for this crime, which transcends all measures of humanity, is now so overwhelming that the US leadership felt compelled to admit the seemingly unthinkable in a closed-door meeting.

The Israelis, who are well versed in genocide, are of the “opinion” that the Iranians attacked the school. There is one small flaw in this statement: this attack took place at a time when the Iranians had not yet responded, as it was one of the first attacks. For more on the genocidal behavior of the Israelis, see our article from last July, “Genocide as ‘self-defense’ – Western media as accomplices in the genocide in Gaza.”

The following photos cannot be found in the Western media – presumably so as not to spoil the public’s good mood.

The little ones at their own funeral– https://x.com/zarahsultana/status/2028878874419851377?s=20

There were no military targets around the school. As if that weren’t enough, the school was attacked twice. After the first strike, another equally targeted attack was carried out on the same target with the aim of destroying the people rushing to help.

The West can be proud of itself. In the first few days, the Israelis and Americans killed over 1,000 civilians in Iran, according to the Wall Street Journal, more than the war in Ukraine claims in civilian casualties per year. I say explicitly that the West—the entire West, including Switzerland—supports this carnage.

American Victory Cheers

The Israelis and Americans are showing countless images that are supposed to prove that Iran is soon to be finished. Pete Hegseth proclaims that the US is winning. Anyone with even a modicum of historical awareness knows that cries of victory are completely worthless and usually a lie. We refer to Adolf Hitler, who shouted “final victory” until shortly before his surrender in May 1945. For example, on January 30, 1945.

Here is an overexcited Pete Hegseth—victory euphoria or panic?

A Few Facts and Figures About Iran

With over 1.5 million square kilometers, Iran is larger than Western Europe (1.2 million km²). And Trump and Netanyahu want to reshape this country through bombing? Israel has an area of around 22,200 km and is thus 67 times smaller than Iran. In purely mathematical terms, Iranian attacks on Israel are 67 times more concentrated per shot than US/Israeli attacks on Iran. Or to put it another way: if Iran fires one missile at Israel, Israel would have to fire 67 to achieve the same effect in theory. No one in the West is talking about this.

Let us remember Yemen, not far from Iran. Since 2015, the Americans, Saudis, Israelis, and British have been bombing the western part of Yemen, a small country on the Gulf where the Houthis are successfully standing up to the West. The US sent an aircraft carrier group, the Saudis sent their air force. The British and French also tried their hand. None of them were able to impose their will on the Houthis.

How is Iran Responding

Destruction of US Military Bases in the Gulf Region

The initial reaction of the Iranians was one that had been announced long in advance: for weeks, the Iranian leadership had been declaring that any US military installation in the Gulf region was a legitimate target. So far, 21 US bases have been attacked and radar systems worth billions have been destroyed. This has already left the Americans partially blind. While the advance warning time for Iranian missile attacks used to be around 20 minutes, it has now shrunk to 4 minutes.

Source: Simplicius

Bahrain, the base of the US Fifth Fleet, can no longer be used. The ships of the US fleet now have to sail five days to Diego Garcia to refuel and load ammunition – and then five days back. This means that the US cannot sustain a prolonged attack on Iran. The Iranian attacks will probably continue until the Americans withdraw.

Through a clever attack strategy, Iran also forced the US to “park” the aircraft carrier group stationed south of Iran about 1,000 kilometers from Iran on the high seas in order to avoid direct missile attacks. However, the F-35 aircraft stationed there only have a range of 600 kilometers. This means they have to be refueled both on the way to Iran and on the way back. Due to the enormous size of the country, there can be no question of a deep penetration into Iran.

United Arab Emirates Faces Economic Collapse

The economic consequences for the Gulf states are devastating. This is the case for the United Arab Emirates, for example, which generates 17% of its GDP from aviation and around 24% from real estate. Air traffic has practically come to a standstill – which is why I myself am staying in Dubai. The Iranians’ message is simple: as long as the US has bases in your country, we will attack them. The “flexible” leaders of the Gulf states seem to be genuinely surprised by this turn of events. It was very profitable to have it both ways, but now they will have to decide sooner or later. Better sooner, because the consequences will be fatal. In the long term, the halo of safe havens in the Middle East, built with so much love, will be destroyed, and the luxury hotels and shopping malls will be of little use – they are all empty. In the short term, the blockade of Hormuz will make the supply situation dangerous – most food is delivered by ship. If these are replaced by trucks traveling overland from Saudi Arabia – which is technically impossible due to the sheer volume alone – this will lead to supply shortages and price explosions.

Even the FT is already reporting:

«Gulf states could review investments due to financial strains caused by Iran war»

Financial Times, 5 March 2026

Militarily, these countries cannot seriously defend themselves; the Americans were responsible for this and supply Israel with all its weapons—as long as they can. And most of their “own” soldiers come from distant countries such as India and Bangladesh.

Iran Destroys Israel

Israel has imposed a complete information blackout on damage; anyone who takes photos or videos of damage will be sent to prison for five years. The Western media are happy to comply and gloss over the situation in Israel. The truth is quite different. Iran is sending hundreds of rockets and drones to Israel every day, initially old equipment, which is flying into Tel Aviv and Haifa.

Damage in Tel Aviv

Many people in Israel spend the night in underground car parks

Israeli soldiers must realize that different rules apply now. Until recently, they killed and terrorized defenseless civilians in Gaza—remember:

Now the gentlemen are confronted with enemies who can defend themselves now they cry.

No one should be surprised by this development—it was announced and was a further development of the events of June 2025. The war at that time ended after 12 days because the Americans asked the Iranians to end it—there will be no such ending this time. Israel’s major cities will be reduced to rubble and ashes in the coming weeks.

How is Russia Reacting?

The Russians are not making much noise about the direct conflict, except to condemn it with all their might. It has been reported that the Russians are helping the Iranians with target coordination. The Russians have not denied this. Russia can see every square meter of the Middle East through its satellites, and the accuracy of the Iranian attacks suggests that they are indeed receiving support from Moscow.

Since the beginning of the conflict, the Kremlin has been in contact with all Gulf states whose US bases are under constant attack.

Foreign Minister Lavrov found wise words for the Gulf states:

In unusually clear diplomatic terms, Lavrov does not mince words at a meeting with representatives of Arab states:

“It’s not nice to sit on two camels at the same time!” The Arab monarchies have publicly declared that they will not make their airspace available! “But when it all started, despite your repeated calls, you condemned what the US and Israel began to do?!”

Foreign Minister Lavrov, 6 March 2026

The Russians are providing Iran with the support that Russia has been asked for. This has been repeatedly confirmed by Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov. Nevertheless, a direct confrontation with the Americans in Iran could lead to the outbreak of World War III. The Russians are aware of this, which is why they are acting behind the scenes.

On India’s Behavior

India is one of the countries that did not condemn Israel and the US’s war against Iran. Why? Modi’s visit to Israel provides some insight into the motives behind this.

Indian Prime Minister Modi visited Tel Aviv on February 26, 2026, the day before the attack on Iran. Both sides attached great importance to the meeting. Agreements were signed on a strategic partnership between the two countries in highly sensitive areas, such as defense, drone technology, and artificial intelligence. Both countries want to cooperate in the areas of missile defense and laser weapons, and trade is also mentioned, albeit in a subordinate position.

This list alone sounds like an anti-BRICS alliance. This theory is underscored by the timing of the visit. Regardless of the fact that Iran was attacked the day after Modi’s visit, the planning of such a visit at a time when war was already imminent was no coincidence. Neither on the one side nor on the other. The timing, content, and Modi’s subsequent behavior toward Iran will have serious consequences for BRICS. Neither Moscow nor Beijing can or will simply move on to the agenda after this affront against themselves and Iran.

This is because immediate strategic interests are at stake. India produces various missiles in cooperation with Russia, which are likely to be of great interest to Israel due to their characteristics. Russia plans to manufacture its SU-57 fighter jet under license in India. Israel is a major supplier of components in the field of AI.

India is now directly and far more severely affected by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz than China, for example. India immediately switched to buying oil from Russia.

It is probably only a matter of time before Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov tells his Indian counterpart how difficult it is to sit on two camels or, in this case, two Indian elephants at the same time.

False Flag Attacks

The West claims that Iran attacked Azerbaijan and the Aramco refinery in Saudi Arabia. The Iranians deny this. The damage allegedly caused by Iran with two (!!) drones is so strikingly minor that one wonders why the drones were not immediately marked with Israeli insignia.

Tehran’s statements are credible when one compares the interests of Israel and Iran – more on this below.

Nevertheless, the situation on the border with Azerbaijan is becoming dangerously tense. This is because President Aliyev is not attempting to calm the situation and, for example, seek dialogue with Iran. Aliyev has now put his army on alert and deployed it to the border with Iran.

All of this is consistent with the image that Aliyev has cultivated as a loyal ally of Israel and the US. The Israeli and US bases in the country are doing the rest.

However, Baku is skating on very thin ice in a confrontation with Iran, because Turkey is anything but enthusiastic about the threat of land war with Iran and has spoken out clearly against Israel and the US, not only with regard to Iran, but also with regard to Gaza and Lebanon.

It is doubtful whether Baku will be able to survive the balancing act between the US/Israel on the one hand and Turkey on the other without suffering damage.

Boots on the Ground in Iran

The Americans are now arming Kurds to attack Iran. Will there be 10,000 or 50,000? As described above, Iran is larger than Western Europe and has a landscape that is extremely hostile to attack.

The Iranians’ fears are therefore very limited. The Iranian foreign minister on NBC on March 6, 2026 – his stance and statement will probably go down in the history books.

No Ceasefire

Just 48 hours after the war began, on March 1, the Americans reportedly attempted to negotiate a ceasefire with Tehran via Italy. Tehran said no.

Iran does not appear to be on the verge of collapse.

Greater Israel

Publicly Stated Goals and Actions of the US

The goal of achieving regime change in Iran has not been achieved, and so the Israelis and Americans will have lost the war if the Iranians do not surrender their weapons within a short period of time. I assume that this will not happen.

Iran “only” has to survive in order to destroy all Western plans.

Nevertheless, the Americans are waging a ruthless war and destroying mainly civilian targets in order to break the Iranians, but in doing so they are achieving exactly the opposite. In addition to the primary school for girls mentioned above, the Americans and Israelis are attacking hospitals, 13 so far. This is not Iranian propaganda, but was reported by the Guardian.

“At least 13 hospitals and health facilities hit during attacks on Iran, WHO says”

The Guardian

Jews Against Israel

At the end of 2023, our blog published a series on Israel entitled “Israel – from victim to perpetrator to victim – back and forth for 80 years.” In it, we demonstrated that Ben-Gurion already wanted to create Greater Israel through death and destruction. Of course, we were dismissed as conspiracy theorists. Today, everyone knows that this is the Zionists’ grand plan. Our criticism has nothing to do with anti-Semitism. Many Orthodox Jews are opponents of Zionism and want to see Israel destroyed. This was evident at a demonstration in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York.

The Size of Greater Israel

There are many maps, and the following one shows the goals of the Zionists.

Every Israeli soldier wears an arm patch showing Greater Israel. This proves that this is not just the plan of a few extremists, but the official strategy of the Israeli government.

Mike Hukkabee, the current US ambassador to Israel, said the following in an interview with Tucker Carlson a few days before the attack: “It would be fine if they took it all.” This shows that the United States agrees with Israel subjugating all states from the Nile to the Euphrates (Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia).

To achieve this goal, Iran, as the greatest power in the Middle East, must be neutralized. Preferably destroyed or turned into a puppet of the US, so that Israel can subjugate the rest of the Middle East.

Turkey is the New Iran

It would be naive to believe that the Israelis would be satisfied with Greater Israel.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett at a conference in Jerusalem attended by the leaders of the most important American Jewish organizations.

So much for the real plans of Israel and the US.

Prospects

It is fair to say that the US has already lost the war, as it has not achieved its stated war aim – regime change – and will not achieve it. Neither the American nor the Israeli leadership has even a rough understanding of what it means to wage war against a civilization that is thousands of years old.

This complete lack of cultural understanding led, in the first hours and days, to Iranians—including most of those who have a different vision of Iran—putting aside their differences and standing fully behind their government.

Attacking a country larger than the whole of Western Europe with a few hundred planes and missiles in the belief that it can be defeated is exactly what one would expect from the Trump administration and the fanatics in Israel. The current leaders of the West—the US, Western Europe, Israel, Australia, and others—reflect the state of their respective societies in their actions. To describe them as completely insane only describes the symptom. The causes of this decadence lie much deeper.

I am not a military expert, but all military personnel who have not been bought by the deep state express the same opinion, including Scott Ritter and Larry Johnson (more bluntly) and Macgregor (somewhat more diplomatically).

I know Iran and visited it twice last year. I had the opportunity to talk to dozens of people. Apart from the fact that they are probably the friendliest people in the world, I was struck by their incredible level of education. According to Simon Hunt, the country produced 234,000 engineering graduates last year. In the US, the figure was 238,000, with a population almost four times larger. Many of them work for the military. Iranian missile technology—which the country developed entirely on its own under extreme sanctions—is a testament to the country’s potential. The Iranians have hypersonic missiles. The US has been struggling with this for decades.

We have seen that the Iranians do not want to negotiate with the US. Nor do they fear a land invasion by the Americans. That should give the US food for thought. The Iranians have been able, indeed they have had to, prepare for this conflict for over 45 years, and it seems that they have done so.

If the Iranians do not run out of ammunition, they will prevail in this conflict against the US and Israel. What does that mean?

Israel is increasingly defenseless. Israeli missile defense is now only sporadic. There are no interceptor missiles with the necessary specifications, no radars. The damage in Israel is horrific, as is the damage in Iran, but the Iranians will survive; they are fighting for their very existence. The arrogant Israelis believe that they will prevail with the Americans; after all, that has always been the case. But the facts speak against this.

The Gulf states will soon have to decide which side they want to be on. The plans for a Greater Israel provide good arguments for standing together with Iran. How wise the leaders of the Gulf states are will soon become apparent.

The Americans will lose their dominance in the Middle East. The road to this will be bloody, and if the Israelis use nuclear weapons against Iran as a last resort, World War III will not be far off.

Economically, Europe and the Gulf states will be the big losers. If this conflict gets out of control, the global economy, which has been teetering on the brink for a long time, will collapse.

These are not good prospects, and it seems that Europe, which has long since given up its independence, will pay a horrendous price. The media in the West have not yet noticed any of this. It is therefore not surprising that the haughty Eric Gujer, editor-in-chief of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ), fantasizes in today’s editorial about the “victory” of the Israelis and the role of “referee” that the Americans would play. Complete stupidity seems to have spilled over from Washington to Falkenstrasse in Zurich.

I would like to conclude with a bon mot from Alastair Crooke, which he shared during our telephone conversation today:

«The stability in the region seems to be rather unstable»

Alastair Crooke, 7 March 2026
