  The line that Trump is “looking to withdraw the U.S. from the entire world” and cede spheres of influence to “authoritarians” like Putin plays well to transatlantic elites, but it’s incorrect.
  
  The Trump admin insists on remaining the lone hegemon everywhere. US nukes, “missile defense”, Iron Dome, Iran threats, “board of peace”, $1 trillion Pentagon spending etc. all remain intact.
  
  The one exception is letting Russia take some ethnic Russian areas of eastern Ukraine in a war sparked by the Maidan coup of 2014, where the US backed the installation of a puppet government. And after tens of billions authorized by a bipartisan coalition including AOC, Trump doesn’t want to spend more money fueling a proxy war Ukraine can’t win anyway.
  
  AOC’s self-described foreign policy “tutor” Matt Duss is omitting this from his tutelage, to the detriment of a reality-based progressive foreign policy vision.       I agree with you about the lack of research on this subject (although that usually means they DO NOT want us to know the truth). I’ve been mulling over seed oils the last few days since I saw this post. At this point of end-stage capitalism I usually assume the worst.
      
      I love olive oil. Use it on anything and everything I can. A bit of an origin snob too, I’ll go out of my way to get olive oil from an area that is known to produce quality olives. About 7 years ago I started to notice diluted olive oils mixed in with the good stuff. I’ve heard olive oil is good for you, but I don’t *really* know.
      
      Soybean oil concerns me. It went from nothing to everywhere in our food. Over the last few days, I’ve cleaned out our fridge. It’s in everything “vegan”. It was the first ingredient in our mayonnaise. Second ingredient in the ranch dressing (in case you didn’t know, I’m white lol). The potato chips were fried in soybean oil.
      
      I’m not sure I’m ready to lump all seed oils in with soybean oil. Like you said, research would be nice.
      
      I confess I don’t know much about essential oils, you have opened up a new door I will have to explore. Thanks for digging into this, it’s really important we know the TRUTH about what is good and bad for us. I think our diet has been weaponized against us.

  I’ve been listening to a few major speakers at the Munich Security Council and it does not seem as if this War on Iran carries a high importance, at least in those lofty circles. They are more busy trying to make war against Russia.
  
  If we do not see shooting break out in the next two weeks, it will be long drawn out, with a consistent weapons threat in the region .. about how things stand now with Venezuela .. control it, but not a full-on regime change. They want the oil, and regime changes will stop the flow because of chaos. So, Trump said yesterday .. Regime change sounds good but at this stage of the game, I think anything sounds good. He is not getting his win. We also saw when Netanyahu come to visit him in DC, there was some journalist question and his response was strong: He will make the decision, nobody else. Toward the end of the month there also is the first meeting of the BoP. I think (and this is tentative .. if nothing over the next two weeks), we will wait for a better opportunity. So far, Iran is steadfast ..they will not go for a perfomative – you shoot once or twice and we shoot once or twice, both declare victory and walk away, they will not negotiate on their missiles (same as Hamas and Hezbollah – same principle – they won’t give up their weapons), and they will not negotiate on their right to have a civilian nuclear program – the only negotiation is what to do with the results of enrichment and how much.
  
  I think we have two weeks – the next round of performative negotiations, the BoP first meeting and then we assess again.
  
  Mearsheimer fwiw considers that Trump recognizes that he has no way of using military force to pressure Iran into accepting Israel’s demands or overthrowing the government to install one that would comply.
  
  It seems to me as if the whole administration is becoming a little careful because of mid-terms. Trump knows that a misstep now will be devastating to him.
