Bag of Salt Territory. Please find where Xi Jinping called the Yuan a Global Reserve Currency

This was published by the Financial Times and as usual the press from the west pumped up the non-existent volume:

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for making the yuan a global reserve currency. He has for the first time explicitly stated his intention to give the Chinese yuan the status of a global reserve currency.

In an article for the party magazine “Qiu Shi”, he emphasized the need to create a “strong currency” that will be widely used in international trade, investments, and foreign exchange reserves.

To achieve this goal, he said, China needs a powerful central bank, globally competitive financial institutions, and developed international financial centers.

What does a ‘strong currency’ have to do with a global reserve currency?  And this from a Russian source that cannot spell the name of the party magazine.

You are free to take a look in the English version exactly where Xi Jinping called the Yuan as a reserve currency.  https://en.qstheory.cn/

From the Sirius Report:

Much is being made of a speech Xi made in January 2024 and that it was now apparently leaked to the media and is talking about utilising the RMB as a world reserve currency, which is an incorrect characterisation for starters.

Secondly and funny how we talked about it in our own subscription podcast series in episodes 1873 & 1874 on January 17th 2024, one day after the speech. As ever, you can be informed, or entertained.

Ignorance. Reserve currencies cause inflation to their nation, and cut growth rates. The last thing Xi would want is the RMB as the global reserve currency.

It has always been the aim of China and Russia for the world to have a basket of currencies, key to multipolarity.
