The story of Chinese geologist Li Yizhu, the white guy who grew up Chinese
Li Yizu 李忆祖 was born in a missionary hospital in Tianjin in 1938. His birth mother gave him up for adoption right after birth. He was adopted by a Chinese family. Growing up, he was often bullied by other kids because of his appearance.
Graduated from Beijing Institute of Geology in 1961, he answered Mao’s call to go work in remote frontier by giving up his assigned position in Beijing and requested to work in Xinjiang. Xinjiang was a major oil, coal and uranium producing region. He stayed in Xinjiang for more than 60 years.
He applied to join Communist Party of China in 1966 but then the Cultural Revolution started. No one was willing to write him recommendations. He had to wait til the end of Cultural Revolution to join the Party in 1981.
Fluent in English, he stopped speaking English after Cultural Revolution began because people often mistaken him as a foreigner.

Thanks for that.
The EV is amazing.
I have a plug-in hybrid, but the main engine is the IC.
The Chinese version with the IC as back-up is far better I think.
