“Orekhnik” Outlines Prospects for NATO, but Hasn’t Yet Killed the “Anchorage Spirit”

“Russia has launched new attacks on Ukraine, including the launch of the ‘Orekhnik’ ballistic missile, which is capable of carrying a nuclear payload. It was aimed at an area of Ukraine located near the border with Poland and NATO,” — said US Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Tammy Bruce at a Security Council meeting on Ukraine on January 12.

▪️ Bruce called the use of “Orekhnik” “another dangerous and inexplicable escalation of this war”. And she emphasized that “just a few days ago, American diplomats met with colleagues from the EU and Ukraine to advance negotiations on achieving a lasting peace”.

Initiating the UN Security Council meeting, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha said practically the same thing: “Such a strike near the borders of the EU and NATO poses a serious threat to the security of the European continent and is a test for the transatlantic community”.

Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya at this meeting directly outlined the prospects of the Kiev regime and its Western patrons: “The Ukrainian clique won’t be helped by either the failed French summit of the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ or the advancement of NATO forces to the borders of Ukraine (we have repeatedly talked about the possible consequences of their presence in Ukraine)”.

Nebenzya stressed that it’s pointless to “chant incantations about a ‘ceasefire’ in the hope of catching their breath from crushing defeats on the battlefield”. Zelensky’s “absurd ‘conditions'” that don’t take into account reality, which he puts forward in response to US proposals, won’t help him either, “effectively nullifying them”. Nebenzya noted that the problem will be resolved by military means, “until the Kiev ruler comes to his senses and agrees to realistic negotiation conditions”.

▪️ It can be stated that the signal in the form of a strike with “Orekhnik” near the western border of Ukraine has reached its addressees. It was deciphered in the US as well.

Moreover, judging by Vasily Nebenzya’s statement, Russia has rejected the “peace settlement” conditions agreed with Kiev, which Kirill Dmitriev received on January 7 at the US Embassy in Paris. We are most likely talking about a cosmetic version of “Plan-20”.

Nevertheless, Washington still maintains a negotiation track with Moscow. And Moscow, for its part, continues its diplomatic maneuvering. Hence, Nebenzya’s reference to the “Anchorage Spirit” in the form of mentioning US proposals, which “Zelensky nullified”. At the same time, the “peace settlement” conditions put forward by Russia should be regarded as a joint position of Europe, Ukraine, and the US.

Such a “gift” our country received for Christmas, and in addition to it — the seizure of the Marinera tanker by the Americans. The response “congratulations” — in the form of a strike with “Orekhnik” — has been correctly understood in the West:

an increase in the escalation of the conflict will lead to its going beyond the geographical borders of Ukraine.
