“Africa – Orchestrated Dependency” – A Memory Revival
Continuous Colonization, Exploitation and Deadly Conflicts by Western Powers
By Peter Koenig
This is a reviving of memories, after reading Dr. F. Andrew Wolf Jr.’s piece, “Africa – An Orchestrated Dependency” – See this https://www.globalresearch.ca/africa-orchestrated-dependency/5898333 .
With so-called “economic development work” experience from several decades as an economist with the World Bank, of which at least ten years in different parts of Africa, especially in francophone West- and Central Africa, my reaction to Andrew Wolf’s article is, He hit the Nail on the Head. He is so right.
Africa is still in the fangs of the west. Call it neo-colonialism. In many ways much worse than the “old” original colonialism. It’s more sophisticated. It’s digitized; it’s invisible; it’s about indebting countries to steal their resources and the money that goes with them; it’s about a continuous domination of countries, through western created terrorism, through western commanded monetary systems, through western direct military and mercenary interventions – basically to protect the “good” African Governments that allow neocolonialism continuing beating the drum of oppression.
As soon as an African leader emerges, who could possibly break the western stranglehold on Africa, or on several African countries (like West and Central francophone Africa) he is assassinated.
In 1987, just a few months before his assassination, I had the privilege to meet Thomas Sankara, then President of Burkina Faso. President Sankara was a genius. He was also called the African Ché. Sankara had a brilliant plan – exiting the financial slavehood of the franc CFA (“CFA” stands for Communauté Financière Africaine, i.e. “African Financial Community”).
He was a danger for the French power, still controlling Burkina Faso and most if not all the former West-and Central African colonies, some 14 countries.
The order for his assassination came from then “socialist” French President François Mitterrand. He had him “neutralized”, by Sankara’s old friend and advisor, Blaise Compaoré. Immediately after the coup and killing of Sankara’s, Compaoré took over the Presidency and was kept in power by the French for 27 years, from 1987, until his government was finally overthrown in 2014 by a popular uprising.
Today, and as of mid-2025, Burkina Faso’s new President is Captain Ibrahim Traoré. A new Thomas Sankara? – In any case, it looks like Burkina Faso’s leaders are trail blazers for a new and free(er) (West) Africa – if they are allowed to live.
President Traoré too, wants to liberate francophone West- and Central Africa from its colonial currency, the franc CFA, instated during French colonial times and kept alive and well after the so-called independence in 1960. The franc CFA is controlled by the Banque de France, the French Central Bank. To this day. It is also called French Monetary Imperialism in Africa.
According to estimates, France might lose some 25% (or more) of her GDP, if the franc CFA would be ditched at once by francophone Africa. This proves French colonialist exploitation is in full swing, and most nobody of the western public has a clue.

Libya’s President, Muammar Gaddafi, also had a brilliant idea, to free Africa from the money enslavement of the west, by introducing the gold-backed Dinar, the “Gold Dinar” which would have given Africa financial sovereignty. To this day, Africa does not have financial autonomy. All African currencies are tied to the western monetary system.
Again, then French President, Nicolas Sarkozy and Hillary Clinton, then Obama’s Secretary of State, with the help of French NATO troops, had Gaddafi literally lynched in 2011. Remember Hillary’s infamous exclamation of joy: “We came, We saw, He Died!” – and that followed by a disturbingly disgusting laugh.
And this after Gaddafi supported and partially financed Sarkozy’s 2007 election campaign.

And there were others.
Africa needs indeed to unify and to stand up in unison against the west – not easy because corruption is all-overwhelming – and western terrorist groups, like the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) M23 is an Al-Qaeda-like western made (CIA, MI6, Mossad) terror group, that allows the west constantly to intervene for the “protection” of the people, wherever there is “a need” – to protect high-valued minerals.
There are myriads of such US / UK / Israel made “terror” organization trotting the globe, to be used, when necessary, like the current government of Syria. It is led by Ahmed al-Sharaa, a “former” Al-Qaeda associate, made by USA and Israel. He is now plowing the way for a Greater Israel – by absorbing much of Syria, with a semi-secret agreement on the North of Syria, to be untouchable for the sake of Turkey.

What will it take to liberate Africa? – A Continent that arguably still possesses some 60% of the world’s non-renewable resources – which the west covets for its forever wars and well-being of western populations.
Western public wellbeing is the insurance policy, so that the (Zionist) money monsters behind the curtain can continue doing, undisturbed, what they are doing best – exploiting the world, with an ever-greater mass of artificially impoverished people, genociding them, if and when they become a problem. See Gaza, also in the way of Greater Israel, plus an enormous bounty – the huge gas / oil riches off-shore of Gaza – conservatively estimated at a trillion US-dollars.
Thoughts from memory – carried forward.
