UN General Assembly ADOPTS resolution “Advancing a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine”; calls for de-escalation, early cessation of hostilities, and peaceful resolution of the war against Ukraine

This is somewhat of a waste of time, as there is no context and no reality. As can be seen from the high abstention rate, it is just a bunch of people voting for what they like. This will change nothing.

Russia, Israel, US vote AGAINST

BRICS’ India, South Africa, Brazil, China abstain.

Israel?  you will probably immediately ask?  They are putting something in the bank hoping that Russia will support them in the next resolution coming up, or they are simply voting on the US side.

The US?  They proposed their own resolution and countries did not vote for it.

A Pro-Ukrainian resolution thus stands, against the US, against Russia.

Today the U.S. opposes the draft UN General Assembly resolution from Ukraine, condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and has called for its withdrawal.

➡️ Instead, the U.S. has introduced its own resolution, referring to the war as a “conflict” and calling for a cessation of ALL hostilities.

➡️ The American representative to the UN stated that this new resolution will “look forward, not backwards” and create a pathway to peace.

Mr Nebenzia knows every trick in the book. He noted that this US resolution is not bad, they have to go back and add the provisions on root causes and then Russia will take a look at it again.

Earlier Lavrov at his meeting with Turkey stated:

“Just immediately ‘make peace’, leave the line of contact, and then think what to do – we have always emphasized that this option will not suit us. We have already tried this option in April 2022 in Istanbul, when we reached an agreement based on the principles that the Ukrainians themselves proposed to us.

They asked us to stop the advance of our troops as a goodwill gesture. Even to pull back a little, which we did. The only result was that the West, represented by then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, forbade Ukraine to sign the treaty it had initiated.

We will stop hostilities only when the negotiations produce a firm and sustainable result satisfactory to Russia.

China is speaking now.  The diplomat said that root causes must be taken into account (in full support of Russia), the parties must get to a political settlement and China will do everything in its power to support such a process.

Serbia has voted for the anti-Russian UN resolution on Ukraine by mistake and it should have abstained, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic says, apologizing to his fellow citizens.
