The beauty of Sakha (Yakut) Knife (Update)

A friend sent me a YouTube channel on Russia’s Yakutia – rural Siberia, the coldest inhabited place in the world!  It is fascinating to hear what the basics of life consist of, in what to me is an inhospitable land.   Ice fishing, how houses get heated, how they farm having to cut a daily hole in the ice to get water for the milk cows to drink, and all completely new to me as an inhabitant of warm lands.

This was my favorite.  It is the story of how an artisan creates and handcrafts very beautiful traditional Sakha (Yakut) knives, made of various tusks. Enjoy this slice of very old tradition while we hurtle forward sometimes head over heels in a developing world.

Update: Besides the fact that our world is large, it is also small. Without knowing and tying this to the SMO, a tie appeared.

Our fighter from Yakutia clashed in a brutal close combat with a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Knives and even teeth were used, the Yakut went into a real berserker mode. The soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not have a chance, all he could do was scream helplessly.

(brutal descriptions about this fight and the death of the Ukie are edited).

After the Ukrainian died quietly, the footage from his GoPro was downloaded and uploaded online.

Yakut survived.

The very same knife with which the Yakut elephant defeated the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier in hand-to-hand combat.
