Russia is considering the possibility of deploying missiles in Asia: Ryabkov said
MOSCOW, Nov 25-RIA Novosti. Russia is considering the possibility of deploying intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles in Asia if similar American systems appear there, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters.
“Of course, this is one of the options that has also been repeatedly mentioned. The appearance of appropriate American systems in any region of the world will determine our further steps, including in the field of organizing a military and military-technical response, ” he said.
The Deputy Minister stressed that Russia’s opponents and their satellites should not have a false sense of security or complacency.
“The time has come when persuasions and some arguments can be applied further, but practice shows that they do not have the proper effect, so more powerful means are needed, including the deployment of such systems, from where they can hit the corresponding targets and act as a compensatory measure,” Ryabkov said.
As for the latest medium-range missiles “Oreshnik”, the current international obligations of Russia do not impose any restrictions on their potential deployment, including due to the erroneous step of the US administration to withdraw from the INF Treaty, the deputy Foreign Minister added.
According to him, the fate of the Russian unilateral moratorium on the deployment of intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles depends entirely on the subsequent actions of the US administration.
“And any escalation scenarios, if they start to be implemented, further escalation scenarios will be a direct consequence of the reckless and, to call a spade a spade, inhumane policy pursued by Washington and leading European countries, which completely condone any, the most ephemeral ambitions, the most criminal plans of Kiev,” Ryabkov concluded.
On the twenty-first of November, the President of Russia made an address to the citizens. He said that Moscow, in response to the strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on objects in the Kursk and Bryansk regions with American and British long-range ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles, tested one of the latest medium-range missile systems “Oreshnik”.
The Russian military launched a strike with a non-nuclear hypersonic ballistic missile on a large industrial complex in Dnepropetrovsk, which produces rocket equipment and other weapons, the Defense Ministry said, emphasizing that all warheads reached the target of destruction.
