Sergei Karaganov: Russia should set as its goal the “strategic defeat of NATO”
This article is partially based on a piece from Eurasia & multipolarity. https://t.me/EurasianChoice/43468, some of which is highly questionable.
Sergey Alexandrovich Karaganov is a Russian political scientist who heads the Council for Foreign and Defense Policy, a security analytical institution founded by Vitaly Shlykov. He is also the dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs at Moscow’s Higher School of Economics. Karaganov was a close associate of Yevgeny Primakov, and has been Presidential Advisor to both Boris Yeltsin and Vladimir Putin.
We all know the Russian objectives for the SMO (and I will keep calling it that for now). These are denazification and demilitarization. We’ve heard much talk, but nothing formal, nothing in terms of a hard objective, about the defeat of NATO. We have only heard that that is also an objective through our own and other analysis.
Karaganov suggested now that Russia should also set as its goal the “strategic defeat of NATO” based on the results of the special military operation, in other words, a hard and formalized objective.
The writer continues: “Against this background, Yuri Baranchik identified such goals for Russia:
– the destruction of Ukrainian and British statehoods, the return of the Baltic States and Finland to Russia for control of the Baltic Sea.”
The goals are ambitious, but at the moment absolutely impossible. Why does the writer say this? One cannot roll back history. Some can be put back in the box, and some not. There is a deep mistrust of the west, in all areas of the RoW. They’ve lied too much, they have broken too many agreements, they’ve been too violent and they want to own it all. The situation after the 2ndWW, when the UN was established to avoid such a bloodshed for the world in the future, is in tatters. I question Russia and China’s hope that this can be rescued. BRICS itself has placed the centrality of the UN as fundamental in any kind of multilateralism. True, but we don’t need to be multilateral with everyone. We can well be multilateral in our area of the world’s woods.
Ukrainian statehood destruction is obtainable for Russia. Destruction of British statehood is only obtainable through kinetic war and that would only be possible via a death strike on Britian. Although Russia threatened that should missile complexes (nuclear) be placed in Europe (of course there are some already) and specifically Britian, they will point missile complexes to Britian. I don’t believe anyone really wants death strikes on anyone, but our world may be forced.
This then makes all of us some kind of a soldier in the now clear war for multipolarity and the major attack on BRICS that we see play out in the run-up and preparation for the BRICS summit.
My thesis now is that we’re going to have to fight it out.
The fight must not willy-nilly go kinetic and into the destruction of a Word War. It is economic (we have to take the angle out of the US Dollar dangle), social (the woke philosophy to start), and through other intelligent means of trade. Trump said he will put 100% tariffs on any country that de-dollarizes, should he be elected. The issue is not what Trump wants to do, but rather that we now must stop trading with the US. There is no trust, one to the other, therefore there is no diplomacy or diplomatic agreements possible. All trust has been destroyed and we cannot trust them in trade. If trust is destroyed, and trade is destroyed and we speak for a new economic philosophy and structure in our world, the west can only tumble, or crawl into their box. The cat’s paws, the proxies, must be wiped out. The western philosophies must be broken through demonstrating a new way (China’s method and task), or declare war against nazism (Russia’s method and the resistance in West Asia against zionism). WE NEED BOTH METHODS.
The NATO bloc itself must cease to exist, and for it to cease to exist, the United States must disappear from the world map as a real player. Almost the entire NATO budget is supported by the United States.
The writer says: “It is impossible to defeat the United States in an open war, it is not even worth trying.”
I would disagree with that. If anyone had in mind a serious strike on the US, it will cease to exist in anything but a much less influential form, perhaps a normal country, and for that normality I hold no hope whatsoever. It will take a few decades. So we have to force them back into their box to have sufficient time to cogitate and restructure their philosophy of supremacy.
The writer dreams and says: “The only chance is to create a situation in the Western Bloc in which Washington will not be up to geopolitics: to launch a long enough bloody war of “North and South” in North America. The same can and should be done in Britain using the migrant factor.
Recent protests have shown that the British government has completely sided with the Islamists who live there against the local population. This vector should be pumped until Britain begins to fall apart, and the world’s financial elites flee from there like rats from a sinking ship.
Britain needs to be rocked from two sides: Islamic radicals have been thrown in to maximize the swing of the migrant environment. Weapons for migrants can be imported from Ukraine through Albania. The task is for local migrants to demand the creation of a state within the state. The Islamic State of Britain. As they are now beginning to demand in Germany.”
Dreams, my friend! This war must be won through positive means and not through devastation of the world. We have enough to repair and fix and build up again. Hence I believe it is time for Iran to play hardball and be willing to carry out a defensive strike and say so.
The only way for Russia to ensure its national security in the 21st century is to break up NATO from the inside, destroying the purse of NATO seated in the United States, and the brain of NATO. Do not trade with them and if they want anything from you, they can pay in Rubles or a BRICS currency. (Hear me China, you do not need a trading partner that you cannot trust!)
We do not need kinetic war for this. What we need is to fight it out, strength against a falling empire. What is this strength? How can we gather this strength?
Individual countries must become hardened against the west’s trickery. Individuals must work and our main objective is to teach with a secondary objective to feed back to the new world young institutional organizations, what we think and what we want. We’re looking at Kazakstan now, who cannot join BRICS because of western pressure. That needs to be removed, roots and all, inside of individual countries. For that, we need strong leaders, visionary leaders and they need their citizens to be with them. In addition, they need economic support from BRICS.
I look at North Korea, where 1.4 million just signed up for military service. And only to stand against the South for this moment (of course it is to withstand the west). We look at Iran and it still is not fully hardened. Iran just stopped all diplomatic, even backchannel, communication with the US. A further step must be taken and that is to refuse visas for anyone suspect or could become suspect. We need to draw moats around us as countries and allow in only the trustworthy. If Egypt welcomes negotiators for a completely made up ceasefire, Egypt must tell them to find another patsy. China with control over its financial system, and all financial transactions visible, stopped the incessant spying, as these spies cannot be paid. They are sitting in the US now, in think-tanks, and make up anti-China projections which they publish with glee. It is only a theater. As individuals we need to do that as well. Our strength is limited, excepting that I want a BRICS passport because the countries that I belong to, are not trustworthy. The change that we are going to go through is epic and personally, we should be strong for that change, prepared and ready to make a move if necessary. We should also take hands and help and support one another.
As individuals, we must decide how we are going to ‘walk this epic change’ and choose our poison because poison there will be. We need our countries to stop trading with the west, boycott them and divest from them. We need to remove western influence from the various shores, and we must be ready for a hard defensive strike.

it has become more commonplace to see this as the end of WW2 which is an extremely logical interpretation of events. The cold war was essentially the yankee empire spearheading the European colonial powers and adding nazi goons to their ranks to destroy the alternative. I suppose by the 90s… Read more »
I think you worry about a real thing Hank. It is happening now already, that cannibalization. Some German or European leader said just days ago that for money, if they are in trouble, they can use the savings of the citizens. I expected a full-court press crying to the heavens… Read more »
IN hindsight, the bitterness and promises of vengeance periodically expressed by Dmitry Medvedev (on behalf of Russia), along with Prof Karaganov’s stated need for the “destruction of British statehood,” as well as Iran’s similar painful forbearance in exacting appropriate punishment of countless acts of war — indicate the likely decision… Read more »
imho if the conditions set forth in the two draft treaties of December 2021 were to to come into existence, the dynamic of retreat and the resultant collapse of the nazi west would be vastly accelerated.
The Russians underestimated the viciousness and determination of Anglos to hold on to power at all costs, even unto thermonuclear obliteration. They will never countenance a rollback off the World-Island and an end to Vampire Balls. Even conventionally demilitarized (!!) Any disagreement is an illusion, I agree with you. Perhaps I was too subtle, too brief, “If the conditions set forth” does not mean “if the nazi west agreed to them”. Obviously the nazis will never agree and behave, because they cannot. Capitalism in the final stages can only exist… Read more »
Nobody is going to step back to those treaties. Russia still showed an amount of goodwill at the time, and that is decidedly gone. I remember so clearly a comment by Lavrov at a presser when a journalist asked him if Blinken understands what Russia proposed. Lavrov said: “He knows,… Read more »
I did not refer to the treaties, I agree nobody is going to agree to them, as I said. I spoke to the conditions they describe. When these conditions are achieved, by violence, not by an impossible agreement, the death spiral of NATO and the nazi hegemon steepens.. We agree… Read more »

While to be clear, I do not cheer any revolution, it involves the mutiny of the army, which has mutinied many times, in every war, though this is kept pretty quiet.
