“Friends, Romans, countrymen…” You are wrong about China and Taiwan
China is not threatening Taiwan. China is protecting Taiwan.
China to Taiwan – “The More You Provoke The Bigger Our Countermeasures. Taiwan Is A Sacred Part of China And Always Will Be.”
Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. When China does these exercises, they are showing unfriendlies what will happen to them if they touch Taiwan.
Did Beijing really surround Taiwan with a massive military exercise this week?
They sure did. And they’re not messing around.
At this point in the saga of Taiwan, It is almost pure amusing comedy entertainment whenever I read some report or article say that “China will attack or invade Taiwan”.
“But Mr Ma, look at this gigantic military exercise surrounding the island! Obviously they’re preparing and rehearsing to attack!”
No dear friend, they’re not rehearsing to attack, they’re rehearsing to defend. There’s a big difference.
Beijing would never offensively attack or threaten Taiwan, has absolutely zero reason to do so and has never threatened to do so. The island province governed by the separate Republic of China govt has decades of warm, rich & deep ties with the mainland including both personal ties between the people and critical economic ties.
A huge amount of Taiwan’s exports go directly to the mainland. Countless millions of Taiwanese and mainlanders do business with one another enjoying fabulously friendly and prosperous cross-straits relations. This has been going on for decades and will continue for decades more.
And frankly, like most of us, the vast majority of those people enjoying their friendships and business together couldn’t care less about the political “status quo” which can be summed up simply by saying “Beijing and Taipei have a yet unsettled internal affair going back to the 1940s that is absolutely nobody else’s damn business to butt into, manipulate or interfere in. We’re not interested in politics, we’re interested in our friendships and doing business together.”
See friends, the thing is, the majority of people are the same. Whether Americans or Chinese, the majority of people have common sense, wishing to waste very little time with politics because they know damn well there’s nothing they can do about it anyway. Most people well understand that if your govt is doing its job well, that’s great, they’re SUPPOSED TO DO THEIR JOB. If not, you’re screwed and there’s precious little you can do about it.
There are no two finer examples of this as polar opposites than the United States and China. As problems in the United States have worsened for these three decades, citizens have been powerless to stop it and they know it. While in China, as the country has remarkably improved during that same three decades, the citizens know it, appreciate it and have no illusions that they need to get involved in Beijing’s govt affairs. Everyone is supposed to just do their damned job.
With that background of understanding in mind, let’s understand that Taiwan’s new President Lai Qing De, rehearsing up as Asia’s Donald Trump, a bombastic, loud-mouthed populist DPP puppet who doesn’t give a flying f*** about whether or not the blood of Taiwanese people gets spilled next after Ukraine, Gaza, and now spreading further across the Middle East as the U.S. more than gladly creates, allows and supports.
Shooting his mouth off about “Taiwan independence” makes him look like the amateur he is at leadership with zero respect for ASEAN, for the Asia Pacific region, for China’s heritage and with an utter lack of understanding of history that makes Kamala Harris seem like a genius with perfect answers during every interview.
Beijing’s message to Mr. Lai, to the United States and to the world remains exactly the same and is simply being shouted even louder recently just to make sure there is no misunderstanding, which is to say…
“Taiwan is a sacred part of China and always will be. If you talk more about independence, any attempt of which would be entirely illegal, we will show you our ability to insure any attempt at sovereign independence will not be tolerated and end in utter failure.”
Folks, no matter what anyone has told you or what you have read, Taiwan is an inalienable part of the People’s Republic of China and always will be, as sure as Florida or Oklahoma are part of the United States and Sicily or Capri are part of Italy.
Or something like that. You get the idea.
BEIJING WILL RESPOND NEVER ATTACK. That’s the message to remember and that has always been the status quo state of affairs.
By engaging in Joint Sword 2024B this week, the 2nd such military exercise in the Taiwan strait, China is doing nothing more than exercising its rights as any county does according to the United Nations Draft Declaration on the Rights & Duties of States of 1949.
China’s “Anti-Secession Law” stipulates that the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces will never be allowed to separate Taiwan from China in any name or in any way.
Lai Qing De knows this is a fool’s game. The United States knows this is a fool’s game.
Most interestingly, Beijing is not trying to hide its capability or plans. On the contrary:
Beijing is showcasing their plans and capabilities in plain sight for all the world to see, fully capable of surrounding and controlling the territory around the island if necessary.
Thankfully, that doesn’t include dropping bombs on children.
Counterpoint China – Mario Cavolo
Couple interesting videos. The hand of China may be forced by several calculations. The theatres of this hybrid world war are linked, both due to having same antagonists (combined West) and alliances between the civilizational-states. The imminent attack into Iran proper will set off a global cascade China has an… Read more »
Perhaps somewhat of a tangent but I was actually shocked to read this total truth about all government: “they’re SUPPOSED TO DO THEIR JOB.” I admire the common sense that went into this attitude, and I think the author’s 24 years in China have enabled him to think this way.… Read more »
yes what the author says is correct, and borne out in China’s official white papers. Taiwan is to be returned by 2049, long after USUK or the western empire have ceased to exist in current configuration or capabilities, if not altogether based on current trajectory… if war can be avoided,… Read more »
The exact comment I was going to make (but I have a slow mouse today – a replacement is on its way!: “It didn’t stop them from instrumentalizing 404 which similarly enjoyed with Russia “decades of warm, rich & deep ties with the mainland including both personal ties between the… Read more »
