Feed the World: Europe’s Last Chance
First Chance Africa
The Russia-Africa Summit which took place in Saint Petersburg in the last week of July 2023 was a resounding success. It was attended by large delegations from 49 African countries out of 54. Others wanted to attend, but Niger, which has Western-coveted uranium, is in political turmoil and four other countries were not allowed to attend. Having said that, all the countries had been under pressure not to attend, but had bravely resisted that pressure. That had, as usual, come from the colonial powers of the USA, France and the UK. Despite such pressures, between 22 and 24 August the fifteenth BRICS Summit will be taking place in South Africa and several other African countries are potential members of BRICS, notably Algeria, Egypt and Nigeria, not forgetting Senegal, Sudan, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.
At the Summit President Putin cancelled $23 billion of African debt to the Russian Federation. President Putin also declared that he would support the African Union ’a million per cent’ in its bid to become a member of the UN Security Council and wanted Africa to be a member of the G20. How very absurd indeed that the UN still retains a post-1945 colonial structure and half of the world, Africa, India and Latin America, is completely unrepresented on the Security Council! It is clear that with such Russian support there could one day be a union of the Russian-led Eurasian Union and the African Union. Finally, the Russian leader declared at the Summit that his country would ship up to 300,000 tons of wheat to the six poorest African countries for free in the coming months, if they wished.
Here is the answer to the ridiculous Western claims that Africa could starve because of lack of access to Ukrainian wheat. This is ridiculous because last year 97% of Ukrainian wheat was taken by the European Union – only 3% went elsewhere. In any case, the Ukraine is a relatively minor player. Thus, in 2020 China produced 134 million tons of wheat, India 107, Russia 85, USA 49, Canada 35, France 30, Pakistan 25 and Ukraine only 24.
We are reminded that before the 1917 Revolution, the Russian Empire was Europe’s breadbasket, for some 85% of the land had been given to the peasants in previous generations. After Western Marxism was imposed on the former Empire by brutal force in 1917, there came famine and the deaths of millions, then disastrous collectivisation (the State theft of land from the peasants, very similar to the oligarchic theft of land in the ‘Enclosures’ in Great Britain). This was immediately followed by a new famine, which reduced some to cannibalism and caused the deaths of millions, as I know from family history. Even up until the 1980s the USSR was still obliged to import wheat. Today, the Russian Federation is the world’s third largest producer of wheat and has just had a record harvest for 2023.
The Summit was marked by its anti-colonialism, especially by vigorous statements from the leaders of South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Uganda, Burkina Faso and Eritrea, against the patronising, bullying and threats of the USA. This follows the Anglo-French destruction of Libya on US orders in 2011. African leaders said to the West: ‘We are not your property’ (the President of South Africa), ‘The West has exploited Africa for centuries’ (the remarkable President of Uganda) and declarations that Africans are no longer the slaves of the West.
Meanwhile, Chad, which has also been freeing itself from French colonialism, supported the popular liberation movement against colonialism in Niger, which is situated between Chad and Mali, where the government has declared that French is no longer its only official language. In Niger Russian flags were held aloft by demonstrators attacking the French embassy against its French imperialism, chanting ‘Putin, Putin’. France is preparing to evacuate its nationals.
All Africa is fed up with Western economic and social imperialism, and the continuous French assassinations of African leaders over the last sixty years. Why not sanction the West, depriving it of uranium? Then there is the promotion, notably by bullying US and UK ambassadors, as in Uganda, of sexual perversion and the threat of the usual illegal Western sanctions on Africa. Sanctions are threatened if Western perversions, practised by tiny minorities even in the West, are forbidden from taking over the mainstream in Africa, as they are doing in the West.
However, perhaps of the greatest significance is the support for the family and for normal morality that the Russian State and Church offer Africa against Western depravity, as expressed at the Summit. The Russian Patriarch also recalled his meeting with Nelson Mandela. The Orthodox Christian President Putin is called by Western critics an upholder of ‘traditional values’. What they mean by this is normal values, which were upheld everywhere even in the Western world fifty years ago. Russia is to help feed the world, not just physically, but also morally.
China offers Africa economic support and since 2000 has been conducting colossal improvements in African infrastructure, building railways (13,000 km), highways (100,000 km), bridges (1,000), ports (100), large-scale power facilities (80), airports, dams and parliaments, currently in 35 different countries, in exchange for raw materials. However, Russia offers African nations political, military, spiritual and moral support. This means mutual respect, respect for each other’s cultures, which is what, after all, multipolarity means.
The events in Saint Petersburg reflect the increasing independence of the Non-Western world. Thus, bullying US threats in Saudi Arabia have been rejected by ‘MBS’ who has openly stated that Biden’s threats will be met by ‘jihad and martyrdom’. China condemns US arrogance and meddling. India, Brazil and Venezuela have said much the same. Cuba has stated that the US is a predator and there is also resistance to US bullying in Jamaica, which remembers its African past. One of the leaders at the Russia-Africa summit called for unity between Russia, China and India with Africa and Latin America. All over the free world there is resistance to American bullies. And in Europe?
Last Chance Europe
Where does this leave ex-Catholic/ex-Protestant Europe, which had quite different traditions from the US in the more distant past? This was before it set out on the path of its own bullying imperialism, which it bequeathed to its recent cowboy offspring? The economic and social fabric of isolated, ex-Catholic and ex-Protestant Europe is being torn apart by the American war against Russia in the Ukraine. The lives of the 490 million people who live in that Europe (we exclude from it the 240 million in the majority Orthodox Europe of East Slavdom and South-East Europe) are certainly being adversely affected. (Even if there are 40 million immigrants and refugees from US wars who are mainly Muslim among them, the native population of ex-Catholic and ex-Protestant Europe still numbers 450 million). These peoples of its nine regions on average of some 55 million each in size, at present divided into 31 countries, are:
The 84 million of Germany.
The 72 million of the United Kingdom (in reality three countries) and Ireland.
The 68 million of France and Monaco.
The 60 million of Italy, San Marino and Malta.
The 59 million of Iberia: Spain, Portugal and Andorra.
The 50 million of Central Europe: Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia.
The 44 million of the Baltic: Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
The 30 million of the Netherlands, Belgium (if it survives intact) and Luxembourg.
The 28 million of the Nordic countries: Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
Will these peoples be able to resist the American bully boys with their threatening and persecution of honest consciences? Seemingly, no, for so far their leaders have shown utter spinelessness and lack of any principle, integrity and conscience, but only hypocrisy and lies. Does Europe still have any guts to stand up to the world’s bully or does it want to be sacrificed to the American Empire?
There are hopes, ancient hopes, to be drawn from Europe’s roots in the first millennium, but for them to play a role, the US puppet elites and their media serfs in nearly all of the 31 countries (we except Hungary) will first have to be removed. This can be done both by elections, but also by popular pressure and the expulsion of meddling American officials and military (not ordinary Americans) from Europe. Only then can the countries of ex-Catholic and ex-Protestant Europe cease being vassals of the demented feudal Emperor who reigns from the apex of the American Imperial Pyramid.
Russia can help feed Africa spiritually and so morally. But who can help feed ex-Catholic and ex-Protestant Europe? For the Sick Continent of Western Europe has quite lost its way in the crimes of its past imperialism and in its post-modern desert of secularism, imported from the USA and its rules-based disorder, and is dying of thirst. As the American Empire declines in the wave of incestuous corruption of its elite oligarchs, drug addiction, gun violence and mass crime, we ask when Europe will return to its roots, roots which Africa has never lost and the USA has never had? Outside Hungary and occasional voices in Germany, France, Italy, Poland and elsewhere, for now we only hear the echo of our question.
“For imperialism it is more important to dominate culturally than militarily. Cultural domination is more flexible, more effective, less costly. Our task is to decolonize our minds.” — Thomas Sankara. Thomas Isidore Noël Sankara, the man in the banner photo of this article, is so apt for this week. Just… Read more »
I share your anger. What I see is the formation of two Blocs–RoW and NATO–roughly 150 nations versus 40. NATO can actually be more accurately described as the Outlaw US Empire and its colonies. What will occur over time is the dollar and euro will lose their purchasing power versus… Read more »
