Doubling Down from NATO

In blackjack, “doubling down” is a move that promises a big reward, but only when the player takes a big risk. If you feel confident enough in your chances of winning after being dealt two cards, you can double your bet, but you’re only allowed to take one additional card. So when “doubling down” is extended metaphorically, that high-risk, high-reward strategy can be seen as admirably bold or woefully foolhardy — or perhaps a little of both.

But, the idea is you have to have some cards.  NATO is pretending it has cards:

NATO Summit Final Statement still in summary form, and my comments in red. It is pathetic:

◾️ An invitation to NATO will be extended to Ukraine following agreement among Allies and the fulfillment of conditions;

Please note that this is sometime in the future, there is no timeline and NATO is trying to avoid bigger war here.  It is said in the detail that the Ukraine must win the war, before they can even become a true candidate for joining the alliance. 

◾️ NATO calls on all countries to cease all support to Russia in the special military operation;

Sure!  Right on!  Immediately the 85% majority of the world will heed this call.  (NATO does not have a hand to play. They are busted!). 

◾️ The deepening of the strategic partnership between China and Russia is contrary to the values and interests of the Alliance;

So we will do more of this! 

◾️ Russia’s military integration with Belarus affects regional stability and NATO’s defence;

Of course this affects NATO defense.  This is exactly why Russia and Belarus did it.  Good! 

◾️ NATO intends to keep channels of communication open with Moscow and avoid escalation;

Did I say earlier that they are scared? 

◾️ Alliance does not seek confrontation with Russia, but cannot consider it a partner;

Sure.  No confrontation eh?  Yes, thousands would believe you, but many more thousands simply do not. 

◾️ China’s ambitions challenge NATO’s interests, security and values;

Good!  Let’s have more of ‘China’s ambitions’!  and challenge your interests, security and values more and more.

◾️ NATO will continue to strengthen cooperation with partners in the Asia-Pacific region to address common security challenges;

This will come to nothing.  China’s military has already said:  Bring it on, we will ‘kick your ass’, and in so many words, which is completely unlike China.

◾️ Allies agree to accelerate the integration of space into collective security;

There is this UN treaty that space is to remain a non-military domain.  But if space is all you have, by all means, try it.  (And check out who has a space station and who has one that is falling apart!)

◾️ Strengthening ties with Serbia would benefit NATO;

Is that all that you can threaten?  Serbia again? 

◾️ NATO countries will prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

This is so old, so hackneyed, so boring.  Iran has hypersonic missiles!  (I want to say you Cretins). 

There is this poem that was popular and my small children and I sang it with gusto!   I’ve re-worded it a bit
