Russia reaffirms diplomatic path as situation around Iran deteriorates – Kremlin

Russia continues to maintain contact with the leadership of countries affected by the Iran conflict, including the Gulf states, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Other statements:

🔶Russia continues communication with countries affected by the Iran conflict, including Gulf states

🔶Kremlin expressed disappointment that, despite reports of progress in US–Iran talks, the situation deteriorated into direct aggression

🔶President Vladimir Putin will hold an international phone call on Monday related to the developments around Iran

🔶Russia maintains its commitment to a political and diplomatic settlement even after the US strike on Iran

🔶There are currently no contacts with BRICS countries regarding Iran; BRICS membership does not entail mutual defense obligations in the event of aggression

🔶Following the US and Israeli strikes on Iran, Moscow is analyzing the situation and drawing conclusions regarding the negotiation process, while continuing work in Russia’s national interest.  (Pekov’s ‘drawing conclusions’ is directly aimed at Russian negotiations with the US – they are drawing conclusions for their own negotiation process.)

🔶Moscow relies primarily on itself, defending its own interests and will continue to be guided by that principle
