NED looking to destabilize Iran, Nicaragua and claims Bolivia
During testimony before a hearing of the House Oversight Committee, the head of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) Damon Wilson was interrupted by Democrat Representative and hardened Zionist Lois Frankel after revealing that his agency “began supporting the deployment [and] operation of about 200 Starlinks early on” amid the violence that swept through Iran in January.
Before he could finish the sentence, he was cut off by Frankel who is the ranking member of the House Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs. She said to Wilson: “You know what, I’m going to interrupt you – we’d better not talk about it.”
However it wasn’t just the unrest for which Wilson appeared to take credit. He also took credit for the media framing of the chaos, telling the committee: “What we’re seeing today, the Endowment has been making investments over years that have ensured that there have been secure communications, including Starlinks… that allowed information to go both in and out of the country.”
According to the New York Times, Starlink, an Internet network produced by Elon Musk, had been smuggled into the country by a “ragtag network of activists, developers and engineers [who] pierced Iran’s digital barricades.”
With Wilson’s testimony, it is now confirmed that the NED responsible for funding and coordinating that network, further proving that the uprising was not organic and part of a foreign regime change operation.
The NED, as confirmed by Wilson’s testimony, was also instrumental in bringing about the 2022 “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, which saw Iranians initially mobilize against the Islamic Republic’s mandatory hijab law before the protests deteriorated into violent riots, with Wilson telling the committee:
“If you think about the impact of our work in Iran, the reason the Women, Life, Freedom movement began with a simple headscarf – that story of Mahsa Amini could have been lost as a regional story in Iran. But NED partners helped cover that story, get it out to the world, and get it back into Iran.”
Mahsa Amini was Iranian an Kurdish woman who died in police custody from a medical episode resulting from a lifelong health condition after being detained for violating the mandatory hijab law. (This story is told differently in Iran. The woman was mentally unstable and taken into custody. She died shortly thereafter.)
The official death toll of the January riots are just over 3,000 and rioters were documented as having burned hundreds of mosques police stations, government buildings and local marketplaces. They even murdered a three year girl and forced her father to watch in Kermanshah.
It was only brought to an end when the authorities in Tehran imposed a widespread internet blackout and neutralized thousands of Starlink terminals. Mass crackdowns and arrests across Iran led to multiple US/Israeli intelligence collaborators and even Al Qaeda terrorists being taken into custody.
The riots themselves were confirmed by the Trump Administration, Mike Pompeo, and Israeli sources to be an operation spearheaded not just by the NED but also by Mossad.
However, despite the official death toll, US-funded “human rights” organizations such as Human Rights Activists in Iran and British media outlets like the Guardian maliciously overestimated fatality counts to as high as 17K, 30K, and 43K.
However, the claim that the Iranian regime killed 30K people in just two nights originated with a sketchy opposition activist and fashion blogger with no ties to Iran and zero knowledge of the Farsi language but close ties to the fake ‘crown prince’ Reza Pahlavi, the heir to Iran’s ousted monarchy which remains in league with the CIA.
This was heavily documented by Max Blumenthal and Wyatt Reed at the Grayzone.

In his testimony, Wilson also took credit for the election of a right-wing government in Bolivia with the NED’s role being to ensure that the US retains control over the country’s mineral wealth for the purposes of resource theft and profit: “In Bolivia, our partners prevented lithium from falling under Moscow’s control.”
Wilson also revealed that NED is funding and training media in Nicaragua in the hopes that it could undermine and destabilize the socialist-oriented and popular Sandinista government in Managua: “We have an incredible suite of Nicaraguan journalists with coverage networks inside the country.”
The National Endowment for Democracy was founded in 1982 at the direction of then-CIA Director William Casey to topple socialist and independent governments across the world through the direct sponsorship of NGO’s, media organizations and liberal political parties. NED co-founder Allen Weinstein confirmed the agency’s role as an arm of the CIA in 1991:
“A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA.”
