I don’t think China’s that stupid. Canada’s not being asked to join BRICS just trade with China as I understand it. China won’t have forgotten the insult caused when Canada locked up Huawei’s chief executive for a very long period.
The idea of Canada’s new trade with China is that there will be no bi-lateral tariffs. BRICS is not at issue here. It is a straight up comprehensive trade agreement.
