Is Hegseth delulu?

About the word delulu:  It is a valid word, added to the Cambridge Dictionary this year, and a play on the word delusional, meaning ‘believing things that are not real or true, usually because you choose to.

So my question is whether Hegseth really believes his own killing rantings, or does he know the Venezuela issue has nothing to do with drug traffickers?  Does he know it is an attempted regime change, or is he delusional?

Secretary of War: “Kill them all.”

A new Washington Post investigation reports that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth personally gave the order to “kill them all” during the first U.S. boat strike in the Caribbean on Sept. 2.

According to multiple officials with direct knowledge, U.S. surveillance confirmed a suspected drug-running vessel, and Hegseth’s spoken directive was to leave no survivors. After the first missile strike, two men were seen alive in the water; the Special Operations commander overseeing the mission ordered a second strike to finish them, reportedly to comply with Hegseth’s order.

SEAL Team 6 carried out the operation. Law-of-war experts and some U.S. officials say the campaign is illegal as the suspected traffickers posed no imminent threat, and the U.S. is not in a lawful armed conflict with them. One former military lawyer called the killings “murder,” adding that an order to kill incapacitated survivors would constitute a war crime.

The Pentagon denies the report, calling the narrative “completely false,” but internal briefings to Congress have frustrated lawmakers, who say the explanations don’t add up and key footage has not been provided. Since that first attack, at least 22 more boats have been hit and more than 80 people killed, with little public evidence that all were combatants.

A direct order to kill everyone onboard, survivors included, and a growing debate inside the U.S. government about legality.

There is no comment needed on this article, as it may be true, or it may not be true.  If I were the type to make a bet, I would bet on valid.

Hegseth has assured everyone that what they are doing is legal.

Take that sentence:  “Every trafficker we kill is affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization.”  That is delulu.  How do they know from high up in the sky?  These guys don’t wear T-shirts with “Affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization” printed on them.    Hegseth may just be so delusional that he believes his own lies.

The absence of a Designated Terrorist Organization is, of course, no problem.  Overnight they made one and, by themselves, declared it a cartel.  But this so-called cartel does not exist, and they were fully informed.  The Cartel of the Sun is not real.   It was created by the US itself for this purpose, just as they try to create Presidents for other countries.  The term “Cartel de los soles” was first used in 1993 as a journalistic label following a political scandal involving Venezuelan military officials who were implicated in a CIA (Cocaine Importing Agency) plot to smuggle cocaine into the United States to infiltrate Colombian cartels.  The term was inspired by emblems on their uniforms that looked like the sun.

This terminology has never been used since.  The Cartel of the Sun is and has been non-existent on every drug-trafficking investigation since, from private groups, NGOs, the US, and the UN.   Both Nicholás Maduro and Gustavo Petro told them so.  The first real action was to infiltrate Wikipedia.  The Cartel of the Sun is now front and center on Wikipedia, with made-up employees and all the accouterments of a fully fledged cartel, in Spanish and English.

Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Paraguay, the usual line-up of US lapdogs quickly followed suit and declared the Cartel of the Sun as a terrorist group.

So the legal cover that Hegseth talks about is that the US may act against terrorists, and Hegseth seemingly needs no approval from the US House or Senate to Kill Everyone now that they’ve made the Cartel of the Sun.

There are media reports that Nicholas Maduro and Trump had a telephone conversation.  LULA from Brazil is pushing hard to be a mediator; there must be no war in the region, and the killings must stop.  Mexico adds its voice to this.  Apparently, Maduro needs to go to Washington for a face-to-face.  Would you go there if you were in Maduro’s shoes?

Besides the sense of incredible anger, there is also a sense of dread hanging over the Caribbean. I would say that at this time, the US is holding off from more serious kinetic action.  We have to however bear in mind the level of delulu.
