Wang Yi States China’s Position on First-Phase Agreement Regarding the Gaza Conflict
On October 10, 2025 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed China’s views on the first-phase agreement about the ceasefire and exchange of hostages and prisoners reached between Israel and Hamas when jointly meeting the press with Swiss Federal Councillor and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis in Bellinzona.
Wang Yi stated that China welcomes all efforts to restore peace and save lives. The humanitarian disaster in Gaza is a stain on the 21st century, and humanity’s conscience must be awakened. China calls for the three aspects:
First, joint efforts should be made to achieve a genuine, comprehensive, and lasting ceasefire, effectively alleviate the humanitarian crisis, and restore regional stability.
Second, the consensus reached by the international community on “Palestinians governing Palestine” should be fulfilled, and any arrangements for the future of Gaza need to respect the will of the Palestinian people.
Third, the major direction of the two-State solution must remain unwavering. Only through the establishment of an independent State of Palestine and the realization of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation can historical injustices and the root causes of violence be eliminated, achieving lasting peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel. China is ready to continue working with the international community, including Switzerland, to make unremitting efforts for lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
