BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) — China’s Minister of National Defense Dong Jun on Wednesday called for efforts to provide strong support for global governance, and to work together to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Dong made the remarks during separate meetings with the defense chiefs of Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Namibia, Rwanda and Senegal, all of whom are in Beijing to attend the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.
Extending a warm welcome to the defense chiefs, Dong said that this year’s forum is of historical significance and practical importance.
The Chinese military is ready to carry forward its long-standing friendships with all parties, enhance strategic communication, engage in higher-level security cooperation, and work collaboratively to respond to risks and challenges, he said.
During the meetings, the foreign defense ministers all expressed their willingness to strengthen military cooperation with China.

Zhang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), made the remarks at a welcome banquet for the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, which is attended by representatives of over 100 countries, regions and international organizations.
Zhang expressed hope that all participants would make good use of the forum as a platform to strengthen the bonds of friendship, undertake equal dialogue and consultation, hold discussions on major security issues and defend common interests.
The recent military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War once again declared to the world that the strength of the Chinese military represents a growing force for global peace, he said.
The Chinese military is willing to continue working with all parties to deepen and expand military exchanges and cooperation across various fields and at multiple levels, address new threats and challenges by promoting greater unity and cooperation, and inject more stability into a turbulent world, he noted.
BEIJING, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) — Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun on Thursday pledged greater efforts to safeguard world peace at the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.
“In a time full of challenges, cooperation is the best choice,” Dong said at the forum.
He said that the Chinese military is willing to work with all parties to uphold security with concrete actions, enhance military mutual trust, step up multilateral coordination, and promote high-quality and efficient cooperation while improving related mechanisms, so as to make greater contributions to safeguarding world peace and building a community with a shared future for humanity.
Noting that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Dong emphasized the need to uphold a correct view on World War II, safeguard historical justice, and foster the widest possible consensus.
The Chinese military stands ready to work with all parties to defend sovereign equality, uphold the post-war international order, bolster multilateralism, protect common interests, and jointly advance reforms to improve the global governance system, he said.
Under the theme “Upholding International Order and Promoting Peaceful Development,” the forum pools together more than 1,800 official representatives, scholars and observers from over 100 countries, regions and international organizations. It runs from Sept. 17 to 19.
The forum features four plenary sessions and eight parallel sessions. It also includes high-level dialogues, seminars for young military officers and scholars, and closed-door academic seminars, as well as interviews, special briefings, exhibitions, and visiting activities to enhance mutual learning between China and the rest of the world.
During the forum, participants focus on issues such as working together to uphold the victorious outcome of the World Anti-Fascist War and the post-war international order, as well as exploring effective ways to resolve conflicts.
