Let me see if I get this right. The idea was a peace settlement. Donald Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and EU leaders is over.
The SMO continues.
Ukraine will pledge with something that they don’t have to buy $100 billion worth of American weapons, financed by Europe (paying the US for a Ukraine pledge from a president that is not a president, with money that they don’t have) as part of a deal to obtain US security guarantees (which they will supply how?). Ukraine and the United States may also sign a $50 billion deal to produce drones with Ukrainian companies.
Did we just dream or is Ukraine supposed to de-militarize?
Zelenski, who is not a president, will meet with President Putin, who is a president, and then Trump, who sells weapons and guarantees, will talk to both.
Trump also said he had a very good meeting with Zelenskyy and European leaders, emphasizing that everyone is “very happy” about the prospects for achieving a peace settlement between Russia and Ukraine.
Does the word bizarre do it for you? Do we have an accountant in the house that can draw us a simple T-Account? The talks continue, but the meeting is over Alice. We’re still talking about a lasting peace with a grand plan that is bizarre.
Let’ see what Russia is going to do with the weapons that may not appear: ▫️ MoD today: Operational-tactical aviation, attack drones, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groups of forces destroyed 16 motor vehicles, up to 100 UJ-22 and Palianytsia long-range fixed-wing UAVs at the pre-launch site, and inflicted damage on the drone pilots’ training centre, POL depots providing fuel to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, temporary deployment areas of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and foreign mercenaries in 148 areas.
There is a little good news. The incessant talk about a ceasefire is not in the conversations. A peace agreement is, for what that is worth. The Europeans are pathetic. But perhaps this war will end as the Americans have called in the proverbial helicopters to fly them out (Putin and Zelenski must fix this!). It does look like an exit, however bizarre.

The White House Asked Ukrainian Authorities Whether Zelensky Would Wear a Suit to Meet Trump, Axios Reports
🔹🔹🔹🔹
It is a slow news day.
Last week, before leaving for Alaska, Russian President Putin conferred by telephone with all of the key BRICS and non-BRICS allies; today, after Alaska, the western side similarly coordinates. All of Rummy’s “Old Europe” are in attendance at the Orange House alongside Zelensky. We shall see where the Kabuki leads, and whether the fast-narrowing off-ramp is taken
🔹🔹🔹🔹
Totalen Krieg continues.. NATO attacked and put offline a Russian oil pipeline critical to the energy security of Hungary; another suicide truck bomb run was attempted on the Crimean Bridge, using an unwitting driver – fortunately, it was foiled (the second such attempt in 2025 alone); The Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to attack the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant inside Russia using drones

Russian MoD: Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack drones, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have inflicted damage (https://t.me/mod_russia_en/22702) on a storage area of the Sapsan operational-tactical missiles and their components, ammunition and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles depots, temporary deployment areas of the AFU formations and foreign mercenaries.
▫️ Air defence systems shot down four guided aerial bombs and 300 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
A quick look at the election in Bolivia where we will most certainly lose leftist or Bolivarian status. You all may remember the name of the previous president, Evo Morales – The first Indian president and wildly popular and respected throughout the world, from the MAS party. Since 2005, the socialist MAS party has won every single vote with huge majorities but today they are set for a massive defeat. Bolivia was the region’s fastest-growing economy under Evo, but the 2019 coup ended that, and growth has never recovered since. The current MAS candidate, Eduardo del Castillo, was the one who led the factional war against Evo Morales and pushed for him to be banned from standing. After post-coup president Arce purged Evo-loyalists from key positions in 2022, the parliamentary party split and Arce couldn’t pass key economic policies. In this region we cannot afford to lose productive leftists countries but we’ve lost one. Ollie Vargas will keep us informed.

Zelensky’s requested a LOT of backup for tomorrow’s rematch with Trump. Rubio says that the US invited the EU leaders.
CONFIRMED so far:
— EU Commission Prez von der Leyen
— German Chancellor Merz
— French Prez Macron
— Finnish Prez Stubb
— NATO SG Rutte
— Italian PM Meloni
They really do not matter, but they do matter for Trump and for NATO. Russia has manoeuvred a perfect off-ramp for the US. The US will not let go! Do remember the pre-summit comments from Michael Hudson. Russia for the moment has time to deal with Europe. See comments following:
🔹🔹🔹🔹
1.There are conversations among the alternative pundits on the Alaska Summit. Some put forward a case that we’ve had a major change in US policy, and that the summit changed the stance of the US materially. Love and peace are on the horizon, and Trump will have the EU in his hands and make them do what he wants them to do. Whereas this has some merit, I say to those in this camp to change what they are smoking, please, and recharge their historical memory banks and check carefully whether NATO is repositioned at all.
2.Others keep to US policy and hold to the idea that this summit changed perhaps a timeline, a current shift in power balance, a hope for weapons treaties, but did not change the base objective of the US and its hegemonic arms for primacy. This makes more sense as up to now, the US has never altered its objective of owning the world. Some say the US is now so weak that, by definition, they are retrenching. To those, I say, please take a look at Syria, the attack on Iran, the current attack on Hezbollah, the continuing Tariff regime, and the continual meddling in the South Asian nations. That old empirical dog still has some bite left inside of it, as it does nothing but work for its own primacy. And if it does not immediately succeed in one direction, it seeks another. Case in point:
The US government has ordered the deployment of additional Navy and Air Force forces in the southern Caribbean Sea region to combat the “Sinaloa” and “Tren-de-Aragua” cartels, as well as the “Cartel of the Suns.”
For this event, Washington plans to allocate an additional 4,000 military personnel, along with P-8 anti-submarine aircraft, a group of amphibious assault ships, and even a nuclear-powered submarine.
Given Trump’s rhetoric on combating cartels and illegal migration, the increase in the contingent was just a matter of time. A similar thing happened on the border with Mexico, part of which was handed over to the US Southern Command.
But the question arises: why use useless submarines to fight drug syndicates? Because the real goal is to strengthen the grouping for potential increased pressure on Venezuela and the rest of the leftist-leaning countries, and the cartels are just a contrived pretext.
The expediency of the action is questionable: the same US Marine Corps forces are already deployed in the region, and the P-8s are constantly flying there. So scaring Nicolás Maduro with “additional forces” is unlikely to work.
But what this will really give is an excellent picture in the media, where the US military is valiantly fighting the cartels and threatening Venezuela. The Trump administration loves this kind of demonstrative action.
As for the drug cartels, these submarines, amphibious ships, and Marines are of no concern to them under the current rules of the game – they always find ways to deliver their goods.
THE EMPIRE HAS NOT CHANGED. IT BREAKS MY HEAD THAT SOME FALL FOR THE CURRENT SHIFT IN STRATEGY BECAUSE SOME PUNDITS WITH CHANNELS SING SWEET BEDTIME STORIES AT A TIME WHEN WE NEED TO BE AWAKE.
Also read The Delicate Exit where William Schryver expresses a similar frustration: “I cannot understand how so many people seem to doubt the resolve of the Russians to continue fighting western forces for years to come pursuant to their clearly enunciated objectives.”
And if you question what many of us say, here is Marco Rubio, telling you this and desperately trying to change the focus and pressure back to Russia. One word has changed and this is ‘ceasefire’ that has changed to ‘peace agreement’:
‘The ONLY way to end this war is to get Russia to agree to a peace deal’ — Rubio. And, ‘This is NOT our war. US is NOT in a war. Ukraine is in a war’
Rubio says Trump is the ONLY leader in the world who can bring Putin to the negotiating table

Dmitry Medvedev: Alaska summit
First outcomes
1. A fully functional framework for high-level meetings between Russia and the US, conducted calmly and without ultimatums or threats, has been reestablished.
2. The Russian president has personally given his American counterpart a detailed account of our conditions for ending the conflict in Ukraine.
3. After almost three hours of talks, the US leader decided to stop escalating pressure on Russia. At least for now.
4. Important fact: the meeting has demonstrated that negotiations are possible without preconditions while the Special Military Operation continues.
5. Main takeaway: both parties have placed responsibility for achieving results during future negotiations about a cessation of hostilities squarely on Kiev and Europe.

Nothing burger. The lunch between the U.S. and Russian delegations has been canceled. Trump is returning to Washington. Pepe Escobar: “Next time…in Moscow”. Putin invites Trump. In English. And that was the end of the non-presser presser. No breakthrough – of course. But at least after 150 minutes, they agree to keep talking. Looks like Trump is finally starting to get the picture.”
Putin: ‘Today’s agreements will help us RESTART pragmatic relations’. Putin thanks Trump for his ‘friendly’ tone and ‘results-oriented’ approach. He says this may ‘start us on the path towards a resolution in Ukraine’. After his meeting with Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the graves of Soviet pilots in Alaska.
Trump: The meeting with Putin was ‘very productive,’ and claims that they ended up agreeing on most of the points discussed. He Floats resumption of US-Russian economic cooperation, says that Democrats prevented him from normalizing relations in his first term. He will brief Zelensky and European leaders about his meeting with Putin.
(The word “deal” was a bad word .. No deal , until there is a Deal.)
Full press conference: The translations did not work too well:
Russian planes (3 if I count correctly) are leaving already. Putin is flying back already. In my view, the ‘man of the match’ is Lavrov and his t-shirt. We’re continuing – BRICS, SMO will continue, SCO in a few weeks, Putin going to China in a week or so .. Life Continues. Break the Tariff regime and break the siege on Gaza.

Trump is in, Putin is in. That flight that everyone was watching was actually only Putin’s Aurus Limo, and not Putin. When the limo landed, Putin’s flight turned on its transponder and came in to land. Good! The Russkies are not taking any chances and Plan B and Plan C is active. In the meantime, fighter jets did a flyby as Trump left his airplane for the Red Carpet Walk.

Also to file under “Games Summits Play”: The White House says the Trump–Putin summit in Alaska will now be a three-on-three meeting. Marco Rubio and Steve Witkoff will join Trump at the table, while Sergey Lavrov and Yuri Ushakov will accompany President Putin. This was planned for a 1-on-1, and then broadened to a 5-on-5. It is probably worthwhile to tell a story of the Sino-Soviet meetings, when, during the Cold War, Chairman Mao held meetings in his swimming pool to embarrass Nikita Khruschev, who had to wear a floatie as he couldn’t swim. Khrushchev felt insulted, and the incident furthered the deterioration of relations between the Soviet Union and China. There were many such incidents.
This is a must-see!

The Russian reporters have some problems. Much of it is trivial, (bad food etc., and to be expected, just stupid playground fake-out stuff). The real issue is that they have connectivity problems and very bad connections.
The expected false flag:
The Kiev regime’s accusations of the Russian Armed Forces launching a strike on a market in the centre of Sumy and other settlements on 15 August are a deliberate provocation aimed at forming a negative media background in order to thwart the upcoming Russian-American talks in Anchorage.
The Russian Defence Ministry officially warned (https://t.me/mod_russia_en/22617) on Tuesday, 12 August, about such a provocation being prepared by the Kiev regime.
The Russian Armed Forces did not inflict any strikes on Sumy and other cities.

The day has come, and the world is almost at the hour for the much-touted Trump – Putin summit at a military base in Alaska. Much has been said about the venue, and it is true that every little issue counts. For example, Mr Lavrov rocked up last evening in a USSR T-shirt, but as always, he is nuanced, and it could be a soccer team shirt as well. The Russian advance team slept on army cots last night. RT has a listing of all the small but meaningful events, for example, the dinner for the Russian advance staff was Chicken Kiev. https://www.rt.com/news/622937-putin-trump-summit-surroundings/
The US took one look at the Russian delegation and increased its own. Yes, Hegseth will be there and this was announced just a few hours ago. Overall, I count 16 people, and this is not advanced staff. They all want to take part.
– Secretary of State Marco Rubio
– Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent
– Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick
– Special Envoy Steve Witkoff
– Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt
– CIA Director John Ratcliffe
– White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles
– Deputy White House Chief of Staff Dan Scavino.
Who else? NATO’s Commander-in-Chief for Europe, Lieutenant General Alexus Gregory Grynkewich, has arrived in Alaska ahead of the Russia-US summit to advise US President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on military matters, CNN reports.
The press is feverishly setting up.
President Putin, cool as a cucumber, made a quick stop and went visiting on the way to Alaska: Vladimir Putin is in Magadan on a working trip. The President visited the Omega-Sea plant, which processes and refines fish oil and makes capsule products containing high levels of omega-3. (Seemingly, Fish Oil will be Putin’s gift to Trump?.)
Putin’s plane is scheduled to land in Anchorage exactly at 11:00 local time, Peskov says. Putin, the GOAT (greatest of all time), will make them wait for him and walk in like a boss. The start time is advertised for 11:30.
At GlobalSouth.co, we focused on media and commentary from those with something to say and ignored the EU and Zelenski schizoid vibes and shouting into the wind – flat earth society commenting! Then we focused on the Russian professional commentary. Russia was tight-lipped. The summary of the comments that we found worthwhile is:
Michael Hudson: There may be an agreement that Russia will not shoot at the US, but that they will substitute Europe and shoot at them.
Brian Berletic, who made daily posts, said it is a trap for Putin, according to well-known US continuity of agenda principles. Looking at the fat billions that the EU gathered together for weapons for Ukraine, with the aim of buying these weapons from the US, he has a point.
My own analysis: This is about war. It could extend to War and Peace, but ultimately, it is about war. “The aim is to establish long-term conditions for peace not only between our countries but also in Europe and indeed globally — especially if we proceed to subsequent stages involving agreements on strategic offensive arms control.”
Ray McGovern: Lipstick on a pig to hide the actual defeat for the US, NATO and Ukraine.
Alastair Crooke: The pressures on Trump and the Ukrainian inflection point, which is now falling in terms of the front line.
Pepe Escobar: Elements of shadow play and Putin is talking for BRICS:
Dream Team: Putin, Lavrov, Ushakov, Siluanov, Belousov. Dmitriev ready to step in anytime
Rookies: Trump, Vance, Rubio, Bessent, Witkoff (now with an extended team)
Dream Team initial 3-pointer: “The aim is to establish long-term conditions for peace not only between our countries but also in Europe and indeed globally — especially if we proceed to subsequent stages involving agreements on strategic offensive arms control.”
Rookies: “?????????”
—
The rookies actually did have something to say, over and over again: “We want a ceasefire! And if Putin does not make a ceasefire, then he will be punished severely. Yeah! Russia does not care.
Now we wait. This may be a nothing burger in terms of outcomes, or it may shape the relations with the US for the totality of BRICS and SCO into the future. The summit will shape those relations, even if the realizable outcomes for the summit and into the near future are a nothing burger. Reminder, we do not know what ‘victory’ is, as a result of this summit. We may take a stab at ‘realizable outcomes’. If you know what victory is, don’t be shy to tell us.
🔹🔹🔹🔹
Ray McGovern weighs in: ALASKA SUMMIT: If Moscow wants to avoid its own Vietnam in Ukraine, Putin may accept a “negotiated solution” that applies copious lipstick to the pig of actual defeat for the U.S., NATO and Ukraine.
🔹🔹🔹🔹
The US has secured $1.5 billion in arms sales to Ukraine through European pledges, just hours before the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska.
🔹🔹🔹🔹
From 9 to 15 of August 2025, operational-tactical aviation, attack drones, missile troops and artillery of the groups of forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation hit facilities of the Ukrainian military defence industry and transport infrastructure used for the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ammunition depots, assembly, storage, and launch areas for long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, training centres and temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations, nationalists, and foreign mercenaries.
What is not specifically said in the Russian Mod’s summary, is that Russian security forces (FSB) and the Armed Forces disrupted Ukraine’s program to produce long-range “Sapsan” missile systems. A joint special operation successfully destroyed Ukrainian military-industrial facilities involved in developing operational-tactical missile complexes.

Moments of beauty. The Il-96, the Russian advance staff, and pool reporters have landed in Alaska. Mr Lavrov is in. Ambassador to the United States Alexander Darchiev is in, and also Putin’s Special Envoy Dmitriev, with some sunny shots of Alaska from above.

The Russians are continuing with much humor:

Peskov was not far behind: Organizing Putin’s trip to Alaska on such a tight schedule was challenging, as “the Americans have simply forgotten how to issue visas.”
🔹🔹🔹🔹
Mr Putin had a meeting with his senior cabinet to update them on the coming negotiations. We still do not know anything as nothing is being revealed. BUT, the secret is in the last sentence.
“President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held a meeting (http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/77775) on preparations for the Russian-American Summit, which will take place on August 15 in Anchorage (August 14, 2025)
💬 I have asked you to gather today to brief you on the progress of negotiations regarding the Ukraine crisis and the bilateral talks with the Ukrainian delegation. Many of those present are already broadly aware of the situation, but I will provide more detailed information. That is the first matter.
Second, I will update you on the current stage of our engagement with the present US administration, which, as everyone knows, has been making what I consider to be fairly vigorous and sincere efforts to halt hostilities, resolve the crisis, and reach agreements that serve the interests of all parties involved in this conflict.
The aim is to establish long-term conditions for peace not only between our countries but also in Europe and indeed globally — especially if we proceed to subsequent stages involving agreements on strategic offensive arms control.“
Mr.Putin is being friendly and businesslike. I’m sure that there are people here who have taken part in major negotiations. Books are written about tactics leading up to such an event, and the prework can make or break it. I did post-graduate work on the art of negotiations, and one of the current African leaders was in class with me. We shared our lunches, as we were both pitifully poor, and the education was expensive and I paid the price. So, from that perspective, Mr Putin is being as friendly as usual in public, and it so happens that he is tactically in tune with his usual presentation style of being a reasonable man. This is tactical. I can guarantee you that much stronger words are being spoken in the parts of the briefing that we do not see. In reality (and I worked with men all my life, so forgive the depiction), the EU, the US, and the little green goblin had some premature ejaculations happening there, so they are now a spent force. Mr Putin and his team said nothing, which now leaves the balance of sheer negotiation power when walking into the room with Russia. That final sentence is a thing of beauty, which should scare any negotiator, as it takes the talks from the silly territorial exchange flat-earth type commentary that we’ve seen this past week, to a global perspective, well outside the range of Trump’s transactional style. I cannot think of anyone on the US side who can compete with this level of experience and knowledge that immediately raised the tone into the stratosphere.
The USA announced the composition of the delegation for the Russia-USA summit:
Donald Trump, POTUS
JD Vance, Vice President
Marco Rubio, Secretary of State
Scott Bessent, Secretary of Treasury
Steve Witkoff, Special Envoy
Not a single black belt among them.

A signal for those who interpret these things: Tomorrow, SHAMAN will perform at a concert in North Korea.
The artist joined the Russian delegation that arrived to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Korean Peninsula from Japan.
On August 14, the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces “Red Star” and other performers also arrived in Pyongyang. At the airport, they were greeted by North Korea’s Deputy Minister of Culture Pak Kyong Chol, as well as staff from the Russian embassy.
🔹🔹🔹🔹
The BRICS news is not ending: China and India have begun negotiations to resume cross-border trade, which was suspended following border clashes in 2020. The countries have mutually decided to move closer amid the U.S. imposing tariffs on BRICS nations.

All the peace agreements that Trump has made – Another one bites the dust. HARARE, August 13. /TASS/. Democratic Republic of the Congo and the March 23 Movement (M23) rebel group aided by Rwanda took control of major chunks of the country’s east, the La Nouvelle Tribune news outlet reported. On July 19, a declaration on a peaceful settlement was signed in Qatar’s Doha, confirming the desire of Democratic Republic of the Congo and the March 23 Movement (M23) rebel group aided by Rwanda to cease fire, as stipulated in the agreement signed in Washington on June 18 under Trump’s auspices. The US president presented the document as a significant accomplishment for Africa and the world. He also presented himself as a successful peacemaker who secured US economic interests in the region and access to critical minerals in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was also assumed that the agreement would create conditions for the return of refugees and attract American investment to the region.
However, all these expectations have not been fulfilled, and fighting in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo continues.
Are there any so-called peace agreements left that Trump made that are still standing?

Russian sanctions: There are so many that US has to issue a ‘General License’ to pause some anti-Russian sanctions. So both sides can pay for Putin-Trump summit in Alaska.

FM Lavrov will be part of President Putin’s team in Anchorage, Alaska. We have reports that this summit will take place on a US military base.
AHH provided background at our Salon:
“So the POW-WOW will be held in Elmendorf Air Force Base, just off Anchorage, Alaska. Its full name is actually “Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson” which the Russian wiki has, unlike the carefully curated crap on the English version.
Richardson is the omitted joined part, the consolidated Elmendorf AFB and the Army’s Fort Richardson. Most interesting about this Richardson, erased in the English wiki, but prominent in the much briefer Russian version:
“The military base “Fort Richardson” was named in 1940 in honor of the brigadier general of the U.S. Army, a participant in the First World War and the foreign military intervention in Soviet Russia …”
IOW, this “Allied intervention in northern Russia” was during the 1917 Russian civil war, when the US invaded along with other westerners under failed British command to try to take their portion of Russia. Got it? Putin is being hosted on a base named in honor of one of the men who stormed his nation, to try to finish her off and dismember it and plunder it forever and ever more. What days, and what lovely symbolism given the continued intent to repeat history.
Commenting on a “territory swap” with Ukraine at the Russia-US summit, the Russian MFA stated that Russia’s territorial structure is enshrined in the country’s constitution
Serious weapons are being spoken about:
The West-2025 strategic exercises in Belarus will be used to practice planning for the use of nuclear weapons and Oreshnik ballistic missiles: Belarusian Defense Minister. The Russian-Belarusian exercises will take place from September 12 to 16.
Kim Jong-un to Putin: North Korea will unwaveringly support all decisions of Russia’s leadership
This summit is about war.
Today the Europeans and Zelenski will have a meeting with Trump. Bear in mind from that part of the world, everything is optics. We are in “post-truth”. Ukraine? Quote Dmitry Polyanskiy: ‘Ukraine is nothing but a private military COMPANY run by the West’.
NATO is a question mark as Russia needs NATO gone from its borders and it is one of the Russian requirements to end the Ukraine SMO.

Either they cannot sail or read a chart, or they’re doing this deliberately:
This morning, China’s Navy intercepted the U.S. Navy destroyer ‘USS Higgins’ (DDG-76), which entered China’s territorial waters off Huangyan Island (Scarborough Shoal), while the U.S. claims its maneuvers were in accordance with ‘international law’
This incident marks the second instance of the U.S. Navy violating sovereign territorial waters since July 23, when the Iranian Navy intercepted the ‘USS Fitzgerald’ (DDG-62).

Relentless demilitarization and denazification continue. “Shoigu” (Gerasimov) still does the talking. All else is secondary.
Goldfinger team now understands, before the rest of their huevos are fed into woodchippers, they need to bring Europe & 404 to heel. Main takeaway??
“Marco Rubio and Steve Witkoff will join Trump at the table, while Sergey Lavrov and Yuri Ushakov will accompany President Putin.”
Contrary to what sold as economic sweetener, the priority of selecting Ushakov over Dmitriev signals Russians’ priority of detente, the clear sane imperative. And Yanquis of Hegseth.
Once the 1on 1 changed by the US to 3 on 3, the topics focused away from economics and labored the entire time on Ukraine. That’s what Rubio insisted. It took power from Trump and marginalized Witkoff. Trump was unhappy, but the neocons control him through Susie Wiles. And Rubio… Read more »
Let’s see what eventually leaks. The entire was weird. A sad let down given fanfare. Trump’s defensive body posture highly revealing. Russians humored him with “a summit.”
A stopped force cannot browbeat, or gaslight, an immovable object. It remains “root causes”, and Retreat off the World-Island…
Yes, I thought Trump was almost powerless with this 3 on 3 move. Things may change tomorrow for sure (it is Trump, ya’know), but there is a positive in that the ‘cease-fire’ talk has changed to talk of a comprehensive peace agreement which brings Russia’s requirements squarely into play. They… Read more »
I agree, Amarynth. The Russians are under no illusions that Goldfinger is an imbecilic clown suffering from malignant narcissism, plus rapidly deteriorating cognitive abilities, and that he, along with his war council, are extremely unpredictable and dangerous. I think it is a case now of, well, let’s just humour him… Read more »
Lavrov in that CCCP sweater is epic.

this meeting is a huge test for Trump’s regime, and they will fail. Still, at least there is a meeting and a discussion between human beings in the real-world face to face.
Posted at MoA: As I suspected, Putin did make a stop in Siberia on his way to Alaska–in Magadan–it just wasn’t the multiday trip I envisioned. For those unfamiliar with Russian geography, Magadan is due West of the Kamchatka peninsula and is a major port city. Putin did convene a… Read more »

The United States has announced the composition of its delegation to the Russia-US summit in Alaska:
President Donald Trump
Vice President J.D. Vance
Secretary of State Marco Rubio
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent
Ambassador Steve Witkoff
For protocol’s sake, to balance the opposing side, US War Minister “Temple Mount” Hegseth should be there as well. Perhaps he can provide the entertainment, including the glowering Cro-Magnon look, lol
Everyone is going on record with the certainty of who thinks what, and what is planned. So I guess I’ll join in. Put me down as saying this is a pivot to Russia. And this is a move that has to balance against several very heavy domestic interests. It will… Read more »
The empire is incapable of not trying to expand its sphere of influence into every corner and every mind. At best this is an attempt at a temporary peace because the west cannot fight so many wars on so many fronts and the regime needs something it can sell as… Read more »
“This summit is about war.” Disagree. Trump wants a Ceasefire. But there is no preparation for such a thing. What they prepared for is open business talks at a higher level than Witkoff and Dmitriev. And diplomatic talks for Lavrov and Rubio to pursue. Trump is there to listen. It’s… Read more »
They cannot address root causes. That means abandonment of hegemony, forever wars, and feeding MIC troughs.
More likely stratagem: leveraging selling out Europeans for “normalization of diplomacy”, Arctic investments, and splitting Russia from BRICS.
IOW, Russian war momentum MUST be halted. Meanwhile, war moves are underway against Iran-China.

Hi amarynth.
I wrote it earlier today… after looking at the RT post of what AHH pasted where Rump said Russia was a warring country.
It was something I thought was funny…. Sorry for the confusion.
No problem .. thanks. I’m too serious these days.
We know what Trump wants? I say we don’t. His people have been saying this past week that they don’t want to pay, but Europe can continue if they buy weapons from the US. The last substantive info from Russia is that the US made a ‘suggestion’ or something ‘acceptable’.… Read more »
What Trump wants is irrelevant unfortunately. There are trillion dollar forces pulling the strings and frankly he does not have the historical, economic, geopolitical know-how to broker anything other than a bs pause to the war so he can attempt to pivot to Asia without breaking his hip while taking… Read more »
I think its weird how people claim they “know” what Trump is doing. Such as he “wants” a ceasefire.
Don’t you think the leader of the free world and supplier of arms to Ukraine could simple make it happen with or without Russia by just stopping the arms and $$$?
“Trump is there to listen.” – give me a break – Goldfinger’s ears are painted on, apart from when one of his sycophantic Zionist appointees is whispering to him. He has two goals – self-aggrandisement, and self-enrichment – that’s it – PERIOD. This baffoon gambles with humanity’s very existence. You… Read more »
