Amid Thai-Cambodia Clash – Cambodian Military Visits US INDOPACCOM For Closer Military Ties…
▪️Even as the Western media claims Cambodia is “China backed,” the US has spent the last year building back influence over Cambodia since West Point-educated Hun Manet took power;
▪️This included US navy ships visiting Cambodia for the first time in years in 2024 ( https://www.voanews.com/a/us-ship-departs-cambodia-after-first-port-visit-in-nearly-a-decade/7911676.html );
▪️And a visit by US Sec. of Defense Lloyd Austin, and now this – amid armed conflict with neighboring Thailand ( https://apnews.com/article/cambodia-us-defense-austin-china-f05671e61c267f630b27b826a4e42d1f );
▪️Together with a US-backed political party taking power in Thailand, both sides conspired to trigger a conflict, destabilizing a rising, increasingly unified region, putting Thailand’s independent military in the middle, and creating an opportunity to not only blame China, but attempt to sideline it while “resolving” the conflict in Malaysia;
▪️When Obama, Biden, and more recently, Sec. Pete Hegseth, said they were distracted with endless war elsewhere and needed to focus on Asia – this is exactly what they meant – chaos, destabilization, and destruction;
